pitch-black shadows from direct sunlight with no transition and dart-style bumping sounds like a downgrade

It's pretty obvious it was Brazilian Creek from H2, unless you have never played H2.

Halo 2 ports are good, because all the current ones are garbage. "Lets make 7 or 8 half assed ports of popular halo 2 maps (including duplicates) and that's good enough to move on to halo 3 ports" and then it's worse with Halo 3 ports, and so on until the community finally dies.

I have to agree on that one,

We used to treat these people like the aristocracy for incredibly crap ports with drab-grey lighting, fakebump that looks bad at every angle, halo 2 and halo 3 BSPS that were all diffuse and no detail//bump, etc.... The fact that we have like 6 Zanzibar maps but nothing else from halo 2 except headlong... which is also on the buggy side...

But now we have better tools and user skillsets, porting a halo 2 BSP can be done in a godly amount of time and people are so proficient at using the HEK that making a map look good SHADER-wise can be done in like a day :D . No more poorly-lit halo 2 BSPS with bad weapons and bipeds

(I bet that now that I actually BOTHER to read 3dsmax's documentation, I could probably make something godly with max5 :) Halo's original modeler lololol )

what we really need is weapon balance on all the levels, any can make good looking maps, but bullcrap is at making decent maps with fine tune weapons
