A few animation glitches aside, game play and artwork is king here. I think I had more fun with the gun play here than in any particular section of halo 2... maybe even halo 3. Congrats guys, the hard work really paid off.

I really can't praise you guys enough with how you set up the maps to give the player really interesting viewpoints. I also love how you baited the player on more than one occasion then flanked the position with another set of enemies in a hard to see location. Great great stuff here, and you really captured the essence of halo with the map.

Artwork and map layout is on par with anything else in halo. If your on the fence about downloading and trying the map, don't hesitate!

10/10

Thank you

Halo 2's gunplay was terrible. The game was so unfinished that elites would often stand in one place and act dumber than Halo 1 elites. And then there's the Jackals. There's no point in even trying on legendary when they have 1-hit kill snipers and ridiculous accuracy and reaction time.

Cutscenes were buggy. Simple errors too. :( Should have waited longer before you released
I was looking forward to those being a guy who likes SP cinematics and story more than anything. Gameplay and BSP were amazing though

I'm gonna start on heroic simply because playing legendary first ruins any game. I want my first playthrough to be challenging, but also sensible. Legendary basically has double the number of enemies with double health, you and your allies with half health, and ruins the game because the enemies aren't much smarter anyway.

They're legitimate cutscenes, with custom animations and voice acting.
It's pretty awesome.

I didn't mind the times when the sky obviously changed, but a few models just clipped out a bit. Especially the pelican. Other than that, crazy gameplay you got there. That bridge near the end was a blaze of green blobs firing at me while I ran across.

Cinematics 8/10 (points off for buggy)
Level design and appeal. 9/10 (cliffs were pretty flat, bump not visible, a few uv errors. This all only really on the cliffs tho)
Gameplay, I rate it :D/:D

Seriously none of you have watched the Halo CE Chronicles? Voice acting should be good.

I'll play this when I get a chance to turn my speakers loud...

Played and completed.

My opinion?

I wasn't very impressed with this, you've created a complete single player mission, which i give you props for... However whilst playing it, bipeds disappeared, a random warthog spawned and the ai were just as stupid as bungies... The BSP's and most of the scenery placement was brilliant, yet it looked like the lightmaps were done through tool :(.

The voices were emotionless, they sounded as if you just discovered Text to Speech... this in my opinion affect the game play (made it duller). At one point, the AI didn't load for the rest of the level due to not clicking a switch. Also a lot of the cut scenes took a while to load, i remember walking through half of the temple area at the end, then reloaded from checkpoint to make sure i hadn't missed anything. Some scenery looked as is it was randomly placed, but they;re was a lot nice playing.

Blah Blah I felt that it was a wasted download.

Random warthog? I have no idea how that would of happened or could of happened.
AI were just as stupid as Bungies? Well guess what, they are Bungies.
Lightmaps were done through tool just like all the other maps.

You get what you get when it comes to voice acting. Trying to find voice acting was like trying to find that 3p animator.

Also, that part about the AI not loading is total BS. Want to know why? 80% of the AI placing scripts were ran from startup, if you miss one it dosent matter (also impossible unless you cheated), the next one would just load after it and so on.

The cinematics also take very little time to load, no idea what your complaining about. You computer must be really crappy.

All of the obvious bugs have been posted at least 3 times.
Sorry that you didn't like it, but other people did.

tell your voice actors to stop sounding like they're sitting around talking in an inside voice and make some freaking noise. there's nothing more bland and dull than someone reading off lines emotionlessly. give the actors an idea of their motivation.. why they're saying their lines. the very first line "HERE THEY COME!" sounded upbeat and cheery, not like they were being chased by frickin aliens that wanted to disembowel them in the rivers

^

I loved how you had such intense combat scenarios such as the huge forrunner wall right before you enter the structure, with all those jackals and the turrets

also it was great how you made the ai's line of sight much farther, the combat was more realistic and you'd have to take cover a lot more

I'd kinda have to agree to Higuy when it comes to finding voice actors. But I kinda have to agree with the others that some moments were (really) bland

Okay, I'll say this honestly: it was one of the greatest SP maps I've played in CE. Great Job TM. So let me break it down.

The Good
-Interiors, vistas, and general BSPs were fantastically well done.
-The encounters were solid and fun for the most part. The only one that I thought was somewhat irritating was the chain of encounters of the Rocket Warthog mainly because the Rocket Hog's Rockets randomly homed in on random targets and not the ones you pointed to. In the future, I think it be best to leave it relatively normal. Also having the marines die made it a bit tedious, but that's because I have a crappy computer and am a bad driver in CE. :P
-The -withheld- towards the end surprised me greatly and were generally enjoyable to fight.
-Weapons were classic and didn't deviate too much in terms of consistency. The only inconsistent one was the Rocket Hog. Oh well.
-ALLIES WERE ACTUALLY USEFUL!
-May's voice-acting was great.

The Not-So-Good
-FALLING DAMAGE. I SWEAR I FELL 10 FEET AND DIED INSTANTLY. FIX THIS PLEASE.
-Voice actors need lessons and the lines/scripts for the voice acting need to be improved for Episode 2; not only were most of the lines said without much charisma or emotion, but at the same time most of the lines did not fit general personnel and character profiles nor military protocols. For example, when ScareCrow radios-in, he needs to say "This is ScareCrow" et cetera. ScareCrow sounded good at times though, but was missing the key turns in his voice to make it sound consistent and great. Brandon also needs to sound less adolescent and more battle-hardened and older; for an ODST leader, he definitely seems less a commanding officer and more of a college bro. The minor roles were good however. Dennis needs to sound more convincing in terms of the situation with some lines, but I think that's generally a Director's failure in writing a decent script. The marine that talks to you about having friends needing help was decent too. But generally speaking, the cutscenes and what-not in terms of writing were hardly adequate. Even with the fluctuating resources at your disposal, it still could have decent instead of mediocre.
-Brandon needed an AR instead of a Shotgun, mainly because he is invincible and can wipe out enemies without much repercussion; he may be stunned, but he can immediately recover and blast the enemy that attacked him with ease.
-FALLING DAMAGE.

What could be improved....
-I'd like to see more creativity when it comes to interiors throughout the next episode. Until you reached the Shadow, the interiors were unoriginal and that didn't honestly match the flow of originality in my opinion. However, that's not to say it's bad neither because the level was still a lot of fun before the Shadow's point.
-More use of spaces on the level. It didn't make the mod bad at all for not using all of the space available on the level, but I would enjoy playing and exploring more of the level instead of passing by like it hardly existed.
-Waypoints would be nice.
-More use of the Shadow next time.

So the final rating...... 8/10!

I'm a stern critic though. I'll let you know what I think. As the rating suggests, the game's pros definitely outweighed its cons; in this case, gameplay outdid story. However, next time I hope for the bad to be fixed. If you want help with story, character, and custscene scripts you know where to find me (PM, Xfire, XBL....). It was a lot of fun though. After the Shadow, the level became so much greater. I'll definitely anticipate Episode 2!
