Thanks guys :) Sorry I've been kinda silent but I've been working on fixing up a few textures and I started working on the snow levels. I'm still kinda iffy on some of the Forerunner textures, anywho here are some work in progress shots.

Be back soon with more updates! Thanks again <3

the ONLY thing that could make that look better is smoothing on the cliffs model.
ONLY THING!
Those textures are so awesome. Please don't change them.

The 4th picture from the top. Is that the new snow texture right next to the old one? The ones we've been seeing are there and then next to it it's all white. Is that an error?

A rare sight, indeed.

The new snow textures aren't exactly noticeably new, but I can tell that there's much more detail compared to what original Halo 1 had.

And hey, any improvements are good improvements :P

Well, that's the basic idea. I'm trying to keep the same feel the game has and just put more detail in. There is A LOT more detail packed in which is hard to see from these small screenshots I suppose.

I think you are talking about the snow bump right below the mountains where the developers used a completely different texture between the mountains and the ground. If you are then that really isn't an error, just the way Bungie originally built the level. As this is currently only a re-texturing mod there isn't much I can do about that now except to try to work with the way every level is built.

I'm aiming for the first release to be out in the beginning of December. I'm not sure I'll have everything finished but a good chunk of environment textures should be done by then.

I just want to say this looks impressive. So you say the POA will be ready for release in the begging of december? I personally can't wait to see things like the Library. I'm so curious to see how those textures look.

this is a great mod ya got here... but i gots a question; are yuo going to to change the tagset when/if you release? and if you arent are you going to release this unprotected so we can modify it?

He's using Texmod for editing textures so it's not going to be like a map.
Anyway, are you going to re-skin vehicles, bipeds etc. as well?

So hes using the textmod kind of like what people did for hog mods? you open a file and it replaces one texture with another so on your screen you have a flame hog and on the other screen people see just a normal hog.

Thanks guys for the interest :D. Sorry I've been unable to really work as much on this as I wanted to lately with work and the holiday. Real soon I'll get back into the swing of things and get motivated again and work faster. Over the past week or so I updated a few textures and have been messing around with Forerunner textures, its all still a work in progress. Let me know what you think.

Be back soon than later hopefully with real updates :P

P.S. if those branches look similar to the ones in project lumoria its because I think we used the same exact reference photo lol http://www.trees1.com/images/fraser_fir_branch.jpg gogo google search

care to elaborate on ":("

Are they too "busy"? because I may have to resort to a much more plain design. The thing that sucks about working with these textures in the campaign is that the texture has to fill so many different roles. A lot of these textures are repeated on many many surfaces.

Really?

I like the forerunner textures, it's the grass textures that are really bugging me.

I think the problem with the forerunner textures is that there is too much detail-it becomes too mindboggling. I prefer it simpler, with smaller details.

Well not necessarily "too much detail" but the fact that those lines are too pronounced. Just fade them away a bit and do a quick showing so we can judge again.

Higuy probably doesn't like them though because he's into the stock textures which tend to be shining with shades of blue/brown and mainly white/gray, with details not as pronounced.

Personally I'd say keep the color you have now, but just do what I said before about all the detailed lines.

My input for this would be to keep the Forerunner textures simple and shiny. I always loved H1 Forerunner alot more due to it's simplistic shapes and aesthetics (though they still are beautiful in all respects). For me personally, simplicity is win.

I respectfully disagree, but I do feel the lines on the panel textures are too detailed only because the lines stick out and to me sorta look like theyre cel shaded

other than that I think they're great

of course I'm an art lover so just the mentioning of simplicity to me is a sin
