All we need is H3's seam-sealing decals, and we're done.
If this gets released, I'm using it for CE and never going back.

It'd actually be interesting to see what results you could come up with for Lumoria, consider it a challenge

How many of the bitmaps in Lumoria are stock?
I think they would auto apply to Lumoria if they are the stock ones that he edited.

I'd like it if he did lumoria, because my campaign uses a lot of bitmaps from that and I wanted my mod to look good on its own but also be compatible with his texture pack

I'm so selfish hurf durf

The bump is very very detailed. I kinda made that choice, I could easily go back and change the bumps to be extremely smooth with just the cross sections receiving the bump but I didn't want it to be "metal". I wanted to have a weird alien bump effect as well, it looked good to me in game... but maybe I have been staring at the project to long and need to take a step back.

I agree, Forerunner structures are supposed to be ALIEN and ADVANCED, else it just looks like some plain human architecture with lots of sharp edges. Though I think the texture itself could use some work; I like it, but from what I have seen I think it could do with some more intricacy and detail.

Quite frankly alot of the custom textures used in Lumoria were edited Valhalla bitmaps from H3.

So all this talk about the main Forerunner texture on the Beam emitter as well as on a few other surfaces being too busy finally hit home. I was looking at it the other night and it just felt "off". I dunno I really liked the feel and grittyness to the texture but it felt like too much was going on. I got some free time tonight to work on a few more textures and decided to go back and try to fix it.

Better, worse? let me know, I can't trust myself anymore lol

Next up I'm going to try to fix the grass. I really like the deep green tones within the texture, but right now it barely looks natural or anything like grass.

Looking mainly at the third picture I'm having a bit of a dilemma...I really like the grass (or at least the general color palette you've used) but the trees don't fit. However, both of them individual fit together well with the Forerunner structure....

It seems like the grass is too bright in some places... looks really funky.

I think your textures don't line up in the first picture on the forerunner structure.

No matter what I do they never will. I'm working with Bungie's original texture wrap on that model.

Anyways, I went back to the drawing board with Halo's ground textures to make it look less like throwup. I tried to preserve the original color schemes of where dirt and grass were and work from there. Here are some WIP shots

Its funny that I changed that, and now the flowers look out of place. I'll be changing those too as well.

Ground for the last shot looks nice, but the other ones look like they have too much fake bumping (or just really bad bump mapping/etc).

Looks like ground is made of sponge. =/ I preferred the older ones.

Hmm those look better.. But the thing about the bright ones is that the bright ground made everything so much more bloomy and pretty.. :O

i like the graininess, but the cliff-like texture type of feel on the ground seems a little out of place for a place that is supposed to be lush and fertile looking when it comes to everywhere else

I think I fixed the problem and found a nice middle ground. The issue was with the detail map mostly (it was too greyed out) I'll post a quick video of it in motion and more screen shot's when I can.

Messed around with the detail map some. I added some color to try to work in the effect of dirt in the ground. I also changed up the main color map a bit. Still very much a work in progress.

I know everyone will hate on me, but I like the rocky-looking grass. Halo 1's grass lacked depth and roughness.
Perhaps if there was more grass detail, though?

Actually, now that you mention it, the grass texture looks like scaled up avocado skin layered next to each other, slightly overlapping.

I'm gunnah go out on a limb here and figure people don't like the direction I want to go with it. I was just tired of the flat green grass. Taking a break from it for a few days to clear my head of it, come back with a fresh eye.
