Hey guys, I've been grounded until I can get my grades back up. I won't be able to work on this at all. As it is, I'm typing this message from my itouch. If you want the flentinels you can ask Gamma, he has the latest version.

We don't have to scrap it. If you want it in, then put it in and get it working. We can add the model in later when I'm ungrounded.

lol i'm grounded from 3dsmax and photoshop because of my grades too... but there are ofcourse those small chances to do so... lol but i'm not working on it full time anymore, just to let you know

i guess we're all human afterall

Sentinel looks good, Elefant. The way the Flood biomass attaches to the Sentinel actually looks quite flood-like and 'natural', the way Bungie did it. The only thing I can point out is that some of the UVs on the biomass look rather weird and the biomass overall looks a little round. You could consider adding tiny bits of biomass on the protruding sharp bits of the Sentinel. Other than that, good work! I'll be happy to help on the Flentinel tagging and stuff if needed.

@BeachParty: Sad to hear about your grades. Hope that you get good grades and get back on modding this ASAP. You bipeds so far were actually quite good, despite what some people thought.

i'll make it up for that joke some months ago, i've sent you the same map in a pm with the h3 huds and whatever might be in there =3


'bout the modelling and texturing, i'll try doing some stuff whenever i can sneak to the app, but for now i'm just stuck with HEK and scripts, since the F.load of numbers and scripts don't mean a thing to anyone here at home lol so i'll make the effects for the briefing moments and post that whenever i got it perfect, i'm going to "animate" the hud by faking you with a dozen of scripts triggered microseconds after each other, i've got it planned out already i just have to write it now

oh and i think i now replaced about every texture in the bsp's with h2/h3/crysis/and a lot of other new gen games like bioshock to make it look good, i should post some pics soon for feedback... the bsp model is still unchanged though

i just did 2 exams, latin and math, if they went well then i'd be saved for a bit, keeping my fingers crossed =3

I'm going to PM CLS_Grunt if i can already have the weapon tags he has so far so we could use that perhaps, waiting for the final release could take a bit long for the movie i was making

so far, i filmed this for the trailer:

Crewman (I replaced it with the doom 3 engineers, i downloaded the demo yesterday) cutscene where MC gets outta cryo, custom flythrough for some film like moment. focus is on the crewman, the crewman is done, goes outside, long creepy corridor with sputtering ceiling lights. he walks cautiously, using a uhh, custom animation (you don't wanna know how i rigged it for that move...) and grabs a pipewrench while he walks and the cam makes those "haunting views"you know where the cam is in the hidden creature view with a nice overlay. the creman looks into a dark hallway, and 2 eyes light up (video transitions ftw) some epic music wich raised the tension now bursts and the flood model jumps to it's throat, right towards the camera ofcourse so it slams to black screen

well that's all i filmed, took me some time already and for the action cutscenes for ingame action i will need a few of cls_grunts models, like the AR using disasters texture and the pistol, the textures just look very good for machinima

Ok then. I was expecting another look for the crewman though, but this looks the same. Ok, you've change dmy mind. But from now on, only stuff thats in the campaign will go in, or stuff that might. Stuff that might covers the Doom3 crewman.

lol yea i havn't done much drastical changes without saying, really, but i'll tell the idea next time before i make work of it, taking things more slowly, but that part is filmed already, so you can thaw it in or not, depends if crewmen appear at all in the campaign

i didn't meant to change it much, that's why i chose that, the closeup on a crewman is just butt ugly

well i could make several permutations and add various faces, but then again, i would have to get the faces from somewhere, and that's either from doom 3 or crysis warhead, so you either gotta love making the credit file or have to deal with the same face all the time, as making new faces takes a really long time =P

i did model my own face some time ago though lol, maybe include our faces aswell, i can model our faces if i have enough pics of everyone for reference, and use a generator to make a correct face texture from the pics

i'll post a pic of my face that i modelled tommorow for the lulz so you know what i mean

it's a funny way to have the credits in the game, just using yourself in the game lol

you take it too seriously xD it was a joke, to state the obvious

yesterday i made some new needler tweaks, for starters, in the map you have from me you can see the needles ontop are fluctuating with plasma, i've replaced the needler now with the h2 model and texture aswell as the FP animations, needles still fluctuate though, but by hardly, do you mean no new weapons (wich i don't want to do) or do you mean keep it as standard as possible? ofcourse, it's about playing as a flood in h1, but i like to spend time with the detaills

Weapons as standard as possible, no halo3 weapons, no halo2 weapons. And Unholies Ar only needs a change int he settings in guerilla for it to be a Halo1 AR. Changes to make the plasma rifle more h2 like is no problem though, as that didn't change over the years. Basically, make the cotnrail smaller, cahnge sounds, and increase speed.

Ah. I set it's preferred firing range to 0 - 0.1, and I set it so that it shoots a rocket that detonates after 0.01 world units. Then I swapped the effects to the flood carrier explosion, and tweaked the damage.

about the gravemind idea...

there was no gravemind in H1. period. however, that doesn't really matter, a gravemind would be cool. I thought it would be cooler though to have the initial objective voices in the first few missions to be either floodified human or covenant voices. then as the campaign progresses a dominant voice comes out that is like the gravemind, but with splotches of other voices, but then at the end it is total gravemind.

I think all of that could be done using a sophisticated sound editor

Besides, we're using a Proto-Gravemind, which did exist. As I said before, every proto-gravemind is established with a task in mind. The one that was made up of Keyes and a bunch of engineers was meant for flying a capital ship. The one that you'll be taking orders from will be oriented towards the capture of the Pillar of Autumn.

the only reason there was a Gravemind in Halo 2 was because the sentinel systems were taken over and dysfunctional. The monitor was taken over. On the first Halo the defense systems were almost in perfect working order, and a Gravemind would have no time to grow, because there were only a few day from when the Covenant released the Flood and when the ring was destroyed.

yes, a proto-gravemind is not as sophisticated as a real Gravemind, and is only built to guide the Flood in a single task, often too complex for a single Flood form.
