your both wrong. If you half an area, you dont half both dimensions, you half the overall area. Since 1024 x 1024 = 1048576, that is the area. Half that to make 524288, of which the square root is 724.0773439. so half of 1024 x 1024 is 724.0773439 x 724.0773439.

Actually, you're right, but you're applying the wrong concept to the situation. He's not trying to find half the area, he's merely scaling the sides down by half. 1024/2 is 512, so the area would be a quarter of the original.

Enough with the maths already, cant you see your hurting people lol.

Anyways, hopefully if we get a 3p animator we can get some custom or Halo2 similar anims in-game for certain parts.

Update: I'm gonna add a berserk feature for the flashlight button, but as of now, I'm not sure what to make it as. Any ideas what to make it do?

So I'm going to say this one more time:

The pics on the last page posted by BeachPartyClan are to be ignored.

This is not intended to be cruel or anything, but it seems they're are causing massive flames towards BP and others. So its best if they are to be ignored for now. I've sent BP a ffew pm's concerning it. I'm sorry if this seems harsh BP, but its the only way it'll get people to shut up.

:O Wow! That's some great Flood stuff you got there. The only crit I can give you is that some of the lumps look like they poke out too much.

It needs to look like the flood infected something, right now you just got random flood blobs, without any parts from the original structure the flood infected.

and make it suit the floodies you are using's colour
ie. if your floodies skin colour are yellow, make the overall colour yellow
P.S. i'm only saying this because i'm quite outdated as in which models you are using>_<

Well if Myth hasn't already found some good textures, then I'll look for a few also. Btw, infection form pod things will most likely be on the wall.

So much for showing early WIPs, I throw some pics in, and it comes out burned. I ask for productive feedback, and the only thing I get is just plain BS, grabbing things from other games, comparing stuff with things totally irrelevant, saying stuff is not logical about stuff that is total fiction and other non productive posts that would actually help me, and eventually everyone working on this, to progress.

This is no forum anymore, it's a shoutbox without cause.

I seriously am considering now to move to another forum and leave the 3 projects as-is with the half done stuff i've provided already, as I'm not being taken serious anyway.

However, I can show this, further progress of the wips that are still wips, that I've made a few days ago:







Lone, I want to thank you for the tentacles on the back of the infection spider, as it was a great idea! I've rigged it that way so that the spikes move seperatly for a more organic feeling, i wish i could upload a movie to youtube, but that's not possible on a mobile phone.

Yes I got carried away on making monsters, and I have had no experience with making flood themed models before so things are going slowly, the textures now are still a product of learning to make new flood like textures and should not be taken as final.

I am not asking for feedback anymore or opinions, this is just to show you the progress, nothing more.

I would like to work as a team, however this doesn't look like it. If this random crap is going on much longer, then I WILL stop working on it. You can have fun with the maps I've sent some time ago, with the hud and stuff, but that's just a tip of the mountain as you know what more could have been done. If i can't post anything without getting some productive feedback on the wips, as nothing i posted is final not even the hud, and just get flamed, you know what will happen, the same as the covenant campaign. now i'm not saying that it will go that way, but this seriously is looking like it right now and it's showing simalarities more and more. think about it.

Anyways, back to the topic, I'm still trying to make flood like textures, floodifying my other models just test it and try if i can get it looking more like flood. currently all my models are textured ofcourse, so actually what i'm trying is to floodify my current textures as that could be more time saving than retexture them from scratch (yea ok from UV then... lol) so here's an example, this is to make the surface more floodlike, and i'm trying to make the wormlike stuff like the halo 2 human forms later on.



the model has nothing to do with this campaign, just the texture i'm trying to floodify.
especially look at the left part of the pic, just to mention

I would like to get a poll started or whatever on what do you think is looking like flood: what things, markings etc. make you think it's belonging to the flood?

1: that my stuff happens not to fit this project doesn't give you the right to just shout noob to me without posting something productive other than just calling me noob

I'm expecting another few pages flaming BP's stuff... Can't we all just get along? I know that the stuff doesn't fit into canon, and I know that Lone Warrior probably won't want to use this in the campaign as well, and I know that that isn't the correct shade of green that flood use, and I know that the stuff is pretty ugly, but can't we just leave this alone?

How should I say this... People don't really non-flood stuff to go into a flood campaign. I don't like non-flood stuff to go into a flood campaign. So if you're going to post this, please don't post it here. Post it in another topic.

However, I can show this, further progress of the wips that are still wips, that I've made a few days ago: The hunter is a no. However, if you make model changes on it then we can use it. Listen, I like the idea, but its causing hassle. For the model changes add blobby bits so it looks flood like.

For the spider thing add a total of six tentacles to the front, remove the eyes. And I can still see the mouth. Get rid of the legs, and place the tentacle things the infection form uses.

For all the flood textures make it dark yellow with green and add patches of blood e.t.c.

After looking at the pictures again, I'm actually liking the spider. If not as a biped, remove the legs and it could be interesting scenery.

if only you could understand how much work is involved in making these things. Modelling objects is just the beginning. All together, it's a huge undertaking to make a series of campaign maps. Halo would be the new Pong by the time the project was finished if everything were made from scratch, especially when made by a couple amateurs, as opposed to a team of career game designers.
modelling, rigging, gbxmodel, bitmaps, shaders, collision, regions, permutations, LOD, animations, animations, more animations, tag tweaking & testing, populating & testing a series of maps, cutscenes, dialogs, scripting... theres probably a dozen things more i'm not thinking of that'd be involved in making something like this. Time saved modelling means a more thouroughly developed campaign
besides, it'll be fun fighting along side them gnarly beasts :p

oh right, bring back ripping stuff, didn't we go over this like, a long time ago? remember halo 2 rips were ok and whatever? i think some people still don't know what ripping is, they think with 1 press of a button it magically appears from 1 game into another, wich is just not true, same with scripts.
but i'm not gonna argue about that again, several topics died of it, so think about it, as it's not worth it, especially not for me, to fuzz with kids between 12 and 14 years old, wich most of you are, about things you don't know crap about. don't even start about ripping, it's not that 3DXripper is magic pixie dust, go produce some good stuff if you think so and start your own topic.
and to be clear, before DEEhunter comes and start talking random crap, using programs like ADI or Entity is NOT reverse engineering, you're just a scriptkiddy who likes to believe so.
seriously, don't go over this again, it's just spam by now as you can see.

PM if you don't agree with anything that we already have been over with.

i see 2 groups forming: 1 handfull of people (i can count them, not that much) that want to have fun flaming me, just me, and another group that want to have fun playing this campaign.

anyways, i'll post my raw textures tommorow so we can see how we could be able to make them more floody like.

wow hardly 2 lines that i'm gonna do something tommorow and the rest is just frustration about kids way younger than me... where did it go so wrong?
