This is what I've been working on in the weekend, very early WIP, not done with the model on itself, tentacles and some custom clothes etc.

So the UI is covered, as I've had that discussion with lone before, or someone else, I think lone though, and I already compiled it as working, have to replace the scenery with the new models though You sir are on your way to breathing new life into the flood and i like that. I really think you have taken the flood and turned it into what bungie had originally envisioned the flood as being (scary). It will be interesting to see what you have in store for the rest of the flood units.

That looks really nice there. I would suggest a few things though, make the torso smaller, right now it looks not porportioned right to the rest of the body. The mandibles look like they are from an Elite, and it doesn't look right on a Human. Definately keep them on there, but don't make them so much like an Elite. That's about it. I can't think of any next gen game that uses them real time :|
You can't even begin to texture well enough to even use that resolution for a 5 year old game engine. Look, theres several uvw errors on your skin, theres a lack of material definition, and is just overall bland.

what's wrong with making them that res? for starters, i hate every inch of blur, secondly, halo can handle it, that's what i showed but it only appears when you're... really close up yea i didn't made them for the heat of combat, what i do is for the cause of my movies, so it does have some use and what's the big issue? I'm the one making them I'll release a test map soon to prove that it doesn't have such an impact on your gfx card, untill then let's refrain from that
about the model, I did use the halo 2 marine armor parts (obviously) since it still has to look a bit like the halo characters I didn't knew the marines had a new armor in halo 2, like the mark 5/6, as i didn't really paid attention to that, nor do i care other then that it's looking more realistic, but whatever I could, start modelling the halo 3 marine armor, and let caboose texture it (he's hardcore UNSC fan lol) or just make totally new armor, or use GRAW 2 armor, or look at the current american army... or just keep the halo 2 armor and finish the armor parts... well the little update here, is that I rigged it and put it ingame, so that'll save some work afterwards, i still have to edit the skin when i modifie the model, but anyways that's for my convenience
I'll change the head a bit to make it more human, as the pic posted above is what i sorta imagined it to be, but yea it looks like worn out mandibles now lol, so i might shorten it or whatever will look good I've also added the 3 tentacles to the hand, starting from the wrist so that it fits the bones of the original human flood, my rig on the tentacle still look weird, but i'll solve that later so bit about the armor, it's half naked anyways, i can still change it in any way as i'm working on the body, what armor should i make for it?
for the rest... I've just got myself a flatscreen xD yea I'm happy with that
How's the flood infection form? I'm working on a model, for my movie I've planned, and will post a render of it soon, but it totally doesn't look like the original, more spider like, we could use that, or not, but what's the thing of new flood infection form? never heard of it again

Most of us already know what our graphics cards can handle, and i can tell you right now, mine can barley handle that.If your using it for movies then make a lower res one for gameplay and use that for cut scenesThere is absolutely no reason at for you to keep those textures like that. Don't get me wrong, I love what you have there, but I want to make sure I can play with it without making my computer cry.

And yeah well "handle it", I wanna see how it can handle it when you get alot of those guys running around shooting rockets with a high poly and full of shaders background with lens flare and dynamic lights. @BP Yeah our gfx cards can "handle" it maybe, but not well. I could run Halo with 4096x4096 textures, but I'm not gonna get nearly as good of a frame rate as with normal textures. Do what Drillinstructor said and use detail maps to make it look better if you need to.

I'm pretty sure that GRAW 2 armor isn't halo armor... Yeah, no GRAW 2 armor. I hate modern stuff in Halo. It just feels out of place. If you want to put modern stuff in, make everything modern so it all fits, but don't put GRAW 2 marines fighting covenant and flood.

true true, thanks for the posts, i'll stick to the marine armor from halo 2, and if caboose got the time remake the ones from halo 3 I didn't thought of detail maps, that's interesting, i'll do that yes and make seperate models for the cutscenes, very good idea the models are high poly, but i'm also using bumpmaps that can be used with specific shaders, so don't worry it's 'baked' as some name it =P I could aswell floodifie the crewman, make it more realistic and add some tools like a crowbar, half life idea, or like doom 3 whatever, add new weapons, meh that can be in some extra level idk, for when i'm bored, i'll try keeping it as halo-ish as possible though I've been thinking about something to counter the hunters with, remember Left 4 Dead? the Tanks are just people with alot more muscle tissue, wich equals biomass or whatever, like how the random tentacles on the right arm appears, that's how the muscles could appear. Thing is, I could model something like that, and rig it as hunter to let it behave the same but just without the shooting, only the bashing would that be a good idea to counter hunters?
