Well advancebo wants me to make a h3 shade turret. So far it's taken me almost 6 hours to make tho I owe a lot of that to how hard it is to tell how parts are shaped. Refrences don't get good enough angles and the damn thing is too shiny :-/. I'll update this when it's done.

2178 triangles so far

So, I was thinking of using this in the mod, but the only problem is that I have to see if he will let us use it in this mod, and that it needs a texture/unwrap. He says Sigma might be using it, so thats a little problem. Of course, if the mod is being protected, then it might be okay. Dont know for sure though.

Can't we protect just the turret then if we are going to use it?

Can't you only protect a single tag type, as in .vehicles only? Or am I just picking up the wrong ideas.

I honestly have no idea on how to protect things in halo CE. I'm pretty sure that you can protect single tags though.

Yeah, with the new HEK+ there is an option to protect single tags.

*MP2SPMT* Polamee [GRA]: Well
*MP2SPMT* Polamee [GRA]: You should model the scarab in as part of the BSP
*MP2SPMT* Polamee [GRA]: I'm not insane
*MP2SPMT* Polamee [GRA]: That's what you should do
*MP2SPMT* Polamee [GRA]: If you want AI on it
*MP2SPMT* Polamee [GRA]: However
*MP2SPMT* Polamee [GRA]: At first
*MP2SPMT* Polamee [GRA]: You can make the scarab actually move
*MP2SPMT* Polamee [GRA]: The player sees it move in like a cutscene or something
*MP2SPMT* Polamee [GRA]: But cannot hop on the moving vehicle
*MP2SPMT* Polamee [GRA]: Then
*MP2SPMT* Polamee [GRA]: After a certain point when the player cannot see it anymore
*MP2SPMT* Polamee [GRA]: The moving scarab is deleted
*MP2SPMT* Polamee [GRA]: The player walks on
*MP2SPMT* Polamee [GRA]: And reached the BSP scarab
*MP2SPMT* Polamee [GRA]: Which is stationary (of course)
*MP2SPMT* Polamee [GRA]: And hops on
*MP2SPMT* Polamee [GRA]: Killing the Ultra Elite or whoever else is on it
*MP2SPMT* Polamee [GRA]: Ok
The Uneven Elefant: oh god
*MP2SPMT* Polamee [GRA]: Feel free to post this idea on the thread

You can't put AI firing positions on a giant device.

That was the first thing I suggested, and you shot it down. Remember, in the very beginning? When this was first starting?

The only way you can do anything, is making it like Halo 2, except the scarab isnt moving.

No. Firing Positions and Move positions, basically AI in general, freak up on device machines.

look the scarab is easy.

if you want it moving and you have to board it, then just make it a vehicle with a driver, and attach turrets. then attach a device_machine to the floor so you can walk around on it while its moving, and then you just shoot off gunners and pilots, and maybe plant explosives?

another way is to have to shoot the legs to get it down. At this point you can spawn AI on the broken down scarab, you have to fight them, and then you plant explosives and get out.

*sigh*

HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO EXPLAIN THIS?

AI Move positions and firing positions don't work properly on device machines! Then the AI would function weirdly.

*sigh*

IM SAYING DON'T PUT MOVE AND FIRING POSITIONS ON A DEVICE MACHINE!

The whole point it it would be independent AI gunners, which do work, and AI spawning in a stationary environment. Did you read my post at all?

And what kind of tag do you expect the stationary environment to be?

@Gamma, its just a scenery tag that is a broken scarab. The scarab breakdown would be staged in a way where the death zones would only be two or three possible zones. Thus the AI spawn zones and positions would be pre-set

You can't exactly just put firing positions and move positions on top of scenery. If you try to put one there, it'll go underneath the scenery. That way, you'll have to elevate each and every move position manually. And who knows whether the AI will react well to scenery.

if it has collision geometry, it should work. And yes, the spawn points would be raised to the scenery. Of course, the scenery may actually go to ground level inside.

Movable scenery? Sheesh. Might as well model it into the BSP. We want AI that move on the scarabs.

Polamee, you are not understanding what I'm saying. It is not moving scenery or whatever. What would the point of having AI walk around on top of the scarab while it is moving?
