a demo level should be released at least, to show that all of your work was not in vain.

And new bsps. I hate the fact that we're reusing 90% of the bsps in the game.

In this campaign, I was wondering. We are playing the part of Pvt Jenkins as flood or some special infection form that has already infected an elite?

The campaign is basically meant as motivation for people to make new, more interesting tags.

That was one of the reasons but can that statement not include a purpose to include more interesting and working tags for Halo Custom Edition?

Yes that might be what you think, but however that might not of been Lone's intentions?

Yes. One of the biggest arguments you guys had was over what pistol model to use. You and BP both wanted the H3B magnum, but Lone pushed for the classic one. If we were to use completely classic tags, then would that fall under "making more interesting tags"?

Your statement is now correct. And the most major arguments I had with Lone over was the fact that playing the mod currently, it doesn't feel like we're a member of the flood. Of course the fact that we don't have flood fp anims or even at least human anims with flood arms doesn't help (b/c bp would only show off what he 'did' but wouldn't give to anyone) but my point was still there even ignoring that slight backstep.

making the game 3rd person would fix the whole "not feeling like a member of the flood" thing, but hey that's just my input. I'm not sure I like first person flood arms idea.

Maybe because the Halo 1 engine wasn't designed for the player to feel like flood, it was designed to make it seem like you are a super-soldier, so the movement and stuff is all off.

That's all easily configurable via tags.

So.......

Yeah. Public alpha time. Since it's just me and Dwood working now, and we're oddly short-handed on testers, I'm releasing a small public alpha which I need feedback on with how the level is progressing, what needs changed e.t.c. It is part of the level StKft, and only goes for about 60% of the map (I'd rather not finish the map and potentially muck it up, so feedback first).

A few things however:

1) We know about the lack of music, I removed the looping music due to a problem where the music continuously loops then exceptions the game.

2) Lack of content. After everyone left, I've been kinda picking up the pieces per se, but still wish to show something to denote that progress is still being made.

3) Don't expect it to be perfect, this is used for Public feedback, it is not in it's completed format.

4) FP arms, yes they're MC's, placeholders.

5) I KNOW IT SUCKS AND IS NOT BP'S PREVIEW VERSION because as I said, picking up pieces.

Without further ado: http://www.filefront.com/15521015/Public%20Alpha%201.zip

Credits in readme.

Now goodnight it's 3 a.m

Rather nice for something that you've done just by yourself. My only suggestions:

  • At the beginning of the warthog run, add some dead marines or something. That would add to the effect.

  • For most of the rest of the level, you should add a lot more allies. There's little to none starting from the Warthog run. Have a dropship crash down and release more allies, some flood banshees, or have some rocket launcher flood come out of that cave that you filled with two gigantic boulders.

  • Sentinel part needs more allies as well.

I love the effect you had at the beginning of the map. Made it seem like you weren't the most important part of the battle, and you were just along for the ride. That's absolutely perfect in my opinion. Later though, you lose this effect. Overall, rather nice.

Missing animations for the rocket launcher. Other than that, map's not too bad ;P

Nice map so far, although you are lacking afew things.

1. You need animations for the Rocket Launcher and the Plasma Cannon (Fuel Rod Cannon)
(Gamma Mentioned This)
2. The Sentinel part could have used allies, and possibly a battle on the bridge? I felt that it was lacking, you only fought 2 groups of sentinels.

Thanks for the feedback so far!

I've added in everything I could from what you've told me. More Allies, made it feel like you were just another flood more, and added more sentinels to tunnel area.

Keep the feedback coming guys!

found an exception, if the flood banshee gets low enough, and you push e to enter, you get an exception. other than that, great concept, i love how you just join the fight instead of start it. my suggestion is to add some human marines or even spartans, to make it more intense.

You're using perhaps one of the greatest, largest, and best level Bungie ever made for Halo 1, but in your recreation of it with flood, you really missed a big big point: massive battles between many combatants.

Add some marines, edit the AI, and take advantage of the large spaces. When I played, I pretty much just took a vehicle and plowed my way through, because there was no set objective I had to complete in the area, so why bother staying to fight?

I think that's a good point actually, I'll edit the AI so you must kill them in certain areas to progress. Sound better?

No, that just adds a minor annoyance, as you're forcing the player to take part in every minor battle on the way there. Scale the battles up. Have humans and covenant enemies, making it a 3-way melee. Give the marines tanks, the covenant ghosts and wraiths, and have an occasional dropship or two fly overhead, raining down fire while dropping off troops.
