I had to play (forced!) halo 2 to get the flood models (you can check the converts out in the flood topic) but i also came across something less relevant to the flood:

Now I'd like to rig it aswell with my horrible rigging skills, but what finger should i leave away (no weights at all) when I have to rig 4 fingers instead of 5?

I didn't use entity because this, is easier for me. If you guys can't handle dxripper, and use tools that are easier for you, well too bad, you just have to learn how to handle it =3 can't help it you can't work with the tools provided.

Do not say a tool is bad because you suck with it.

ohohoh, here come the wise guys

I do it my way, and this is a WIP, what's the pathetic part of that? >.>

You're just being mean, and can't even produce a productive post without being pointed out, what's the matter, a tad too much pointless posts? i've seen you're last posts, only mean and nothing productive, people like you demotivates people.

When your ripping using 3DRipperDX, it rips in the position the model is in. And since its rigged to bones, the bones, if they were there, would be rotated and moved in ways you could not know. So rigging it in that position could mess it up.

Thank you for your concern and for a change an explanation, but I'm fully aware of that, so I take multiple shots, so that I can pick the best ones out to rig, and believe me, it works

plus, for all the games I rip from, there are specific tools, like crysis, there is a maya plugin... that means I'd have to get maya, and the plugin, just for crysis. same for halo, to get that tool.
So I'm kinda very good with DXripper as I've used it on a huge ammount of games already

Custom animation graph anyone?

You dont want to know how to rip. it is pathetic. Try and learn to make your own stuff instead of wasting time ripping. Which will not help you at all in life.

I do this for fun, who was talking about helping me in life?

If you want to talk about that again, the topic that had this discussion just got locked

I was pointing out. If your doing to do something that makes you a pathetic ripper. At least do it right. And you cant be good at 3d ripper dx because all you are doing is pressing F12 at some frame with all the stuff you want. Entity ripps the models with UVs at there dorment, pre-animated style. But ripping using 3d ripper dx and refusing to use entity just shows that your mind cant take anything more complicated then pressing F12.

I was thinking it best to make a somewhat plain biped and then add things (more armour, belt, etc) as objects or primitives or w/e, then i can make permutations i think.
Is that a good idea or bad? coz i really dont know.

it would be a good way to make lod's, especially if you unwrap it correctly. like if you have a plane with a box coming out of it, unwrap the box onto the plane so when you paint the texture, the plane underneath gets the color too, so if that box geometry is gone, from far away it looks the same

Good idea that, thanks Donut.

Yea those vents on the legs maybe are protruding too much i will make them a bit less obvious, actually they would probly look better if they were umm .. inverted? and indented into the armor as opposed to extruding from it. (armour is spelled armor?)

Intruding could work.

Armor is the American English spelling
Armour is the European spelling, like Color and Colour.

Maniac, it is a good idea to model that way, and (to my knowledge) the way bipeds are meant to be modeled, especially with organic bipeds. You should block out the basic shape, and continue to add edge loops, elements, etc. and define shapes as you go.

IMO this thread should be a work in progress for bipeds actually made by Halo:CE community.

Not biped RIP in progress! In other words gtfo with rips, pathetic.

Seriously, there is nothing wrong with rips. I know they annoy you because the person cannot be bothered modelling their own models, but that's the way some people are. They want to help the community. They can't model. So they rip. Makes sense to me.
