I maybe recommend not giving out a name publicly yet so then there won't be another event like last time.

How close to release is this? That particular section of the BSP is super sexy. Is that all that's finished, or all that you're showing off right now?

Map is currently in beta stage, been working on it for 1.5 weeks. I need to create portals, smoothing groups, etc...It should be done in a week.

Somebody should do like H3 Gridiron

I love gridiron and all but it would be EPIC if we had H3 tags

Liking the new low center part, and looks really good too! Is the rocket launcher gonna spawn on that "cliff"?

Also, I like the more dim lighting in the first version:

Compared to the dull all bright in the public beta.

Yeah, I liked the dim version too. And yes, the rocket launcher is going to spawn on that middle ramp looking structure.

Am I missing something? Is there a custom tagset out there that's as well-balanced, as consistent (visually and performance-wise), and as easy for players to use as the stock tagset?

H3 Foundry are really good, and if one is going to be picky about the BR they could use the H3 MLG Amplified one, the stock tags are boring and sometimes can kill really good maps.
I just tired of the same old guns, that's all...

I don't see how the stock tagset can kill a map, especially when the map's aesthetic is more remniscent of a Halo 1 map than a Halo 3 map.

i think it should go with stock weapons, though i think it would be cool if we had some higher detail stock weapon models to complement the quality of these maps. id jump on that idea but i have too much to do atm.

I've yet to see any map (aside from a select vanilla ones) with the vanilla tagset actually get played past a gamenight or two. There simply isn't anything interesting to propel it into a maplist. Simply put, the vanilla tagset is over-used simply by virtue of being the default everyone's used to time immemorial, and the novelty of using a shiny weapon or two over those often gives the level design a chance to shine.

I would like to respectfully disagree with you. I find that the most active custom maps are the ones with stock assets. Yoyorast Island and Delta Ruins being prime examples. The Delta Ruin servers seem to be the most played and most full custom map servers too.

Custom weapons have there place, but I connect more with Halo 1 in terms of my art style and what I enjoy. You can call the stock assets 'vanilla' for all I care; in fact, I enjoy the taste of vanilla.

I was going to write a huge rant explaining why the stock tagset offers a much deeper meta-game than custom tagsets and how (most) designers of said custom tagsets are nowhere close to having the expertise/conviction it takes to properly balance a weapon-set for a multiplayer game, but it would fall on deaf ears in this place.

The real reason that maps with custom weapons get more hits is simply because the vast majority of people that play custom maps are casuals that have no interest in Halo's meta-game and fancy the shallow sensation of fresh new guns and visuals over a balanced high-level match.

If you're arguing that PopeAK49 should sell out and cater his map to the plebian masses just to get more exposure, then just say so - but don't try to justify it by stating your opinions as facts.

Remember folks: PopeAK49 isn't making this map for you - but you're more than welcome to play it.

(PopeAK49 please correct me if I'm wrong - it's just an assumption I make because I can't make sense of people that work for the benefit of others - especially gamers)

I don't think the default tagset is some pinnacle of perfection. It certainly works, but it shouldn't be placed on some pedestal of, "This is the most balanced weapon set in CE and no one will ever come close to rivaling it with anything custom."
