I took inspiration from the Rhino, but I mixed the Halo Reach and 4 design for the textures. Firing sound is the H4 one.
Next thing is the Hornet, and then I'm done with the vehicles.

All the three ranger ranks (Grunt, Jackal and Elite) will have a cameo in a10.

My tasks for CMT are taking a lot of my time, and I'm near to the next exams session, so I don't know when I'll be able to post updates. I'm considering to submit a video for CE3, but right now I don't have a name for the mod yet...

in all seriousness the front of the hog being sloped down like that would cause it to dive under the water, why not edit it a little more to make it more like a boat on the front

I don't think it's floating, I'm pretty sure it's just sitting in shallow water.

so the only thing I can really say at this point is this.

Concepts: A+
Gameplay Variation Plans: A+
Modeling: B
Texturing: E
Overall Execution: C

Its not bad but I feel like your concepts and planning are better than your execution. It could just be because you're so limited with the engine or that you don't have enough experience doing these kinds of things but damn there's a lot that could be explored visually here

I think what R93 sniper is implying is to fully highpoly model each custom vehicle and give it his unique normals, ambient occlusion and a better texture and overal model shape.

Believe me or not, I thought you would have been more cruel... I never expected to see such good opinions about something that looks like a simple, poor version of SPv3 for non-OS users. Most of the models are not stellar, for various reasons: 1) I started them a long time ago, and kept them as they are 2) I started from the H1 or H3 models 3) I had to optimize everything as a beast. I'm not happy either with the result, I've learnt a lot of new modeling and texturing tecniques since I'm part of CMT, but some of them, without OS, aren't praticable. Fake bump mapping will always look worse than actual normals, good multipurpose maps will never give the same effect of OS specularity effects, and of course I can't use high-res bitmaps or models. I could give an overhaul on some models, but I'm gonna be honest: the mod is basically finished, apart from few things, and I had already to cut some stuff here and there in order to include everything in the whole campaign. a10 right now has only 0.03 MB free, and amount is quite similar for all the other levels. I had even to scrap out the lods for each model, something that I extremely regret to... but after all, the main goal of this mod was to give my tags to everyone and let them do whatever they want with them, so one day someone could give an OS-touch on them...

I'd really, REALLY love to make you get your hands on my shaders... I remember the fantastic work you did with the vanilla shaders of the Evolved Spartan biped, and I'd love to see something similar for me too... but keep in mind that I can't up-res the textures, for the reasons above :/

realistically, when you're done with what you're doing concerning this campaign deal, you can make a few highpoly models for a portfolio and show those off to us too, show your true potential.

Actually I've already planned to start a full immersion into modelling from scratch for a custom game project, not Halo related, that I'll start once the mod is out... so hopefully you'll see better models in the future

The mod is in the polish phase. I'm fixing the issues found during my walkthroughs (I've played the whole campaign so many times that I'm almost sick of it), and in the meantime Nex is enhancing the shaders and the bitmaps. I can't say when you'll see more progress, but I can guarantee that we're closer to the end than you think!

Despite what some people said with regards to the CE3 trailer for your mod, it is actually the project I'm most looking forward to playing. It seems like a retro halo ce mod with original concepts, focused on gameplay mechanics instead of solely graphical improvements. It's good to see you taking your time with polishing your mod off as opposed to rushing it like other recent sp mods.

...what other SP mods? So far every map I've played except for one creators work has been quite fantastic.

So, surfing the Internet I found these pics:







It seems that 343i wanted to use Drones in Halo 4, but then they changed idea. I'm using Drones in my mod, but they are just fixed Halo 3 Drones with better actor_variants, and are used only in b30 and b40. I think that's a good chance to revamp them, and maybe implement some new features as well, like editing their animations in order to look more like the H2 ones. I'm gonna mess with them when I have some spare time.

Any ideas about something that I could add to them in terms of behaviour, in order to not be just "fly-and-shoot"?

Well there seems to be a concept for a Drone sharpshooter there, and the ability to fly up to a perch from which a shot can be taken seems like a helpful trait. That might be something to look into. I'll see if I can come up with anything else later.

It is officially a thing now:







So far I changed only the idle animation, I hope to remake all of them... plus, since the tail now is a sort of sting, this gives me the opportunity to implement a melee attack. I'll see how it turns out
