yeah it looks well modeled to me, but the polygon count could be reduced a good bit still.

Gravemind, are you going to release an update where the application has the ability to extract tag data? (Actual tags from the maps themselves, not raw models/bitmaps)

Quick question to someone here. Any idea on how to correct reach's dark bitmaps? I know that they go through the shader process, which they are lightened up and whatnot. Look in the model viewer, the diffuse textures are really solid compared to looking at it in 3ds max, they're really dark. Edited by Ki11erFTW on Nov 15, 2012 at 04:41 PM

Make sure you're looking at "render_model" tags not "model" tags ("mode" if using short names).

Quote: --- Original message by: waffles May just be your viewport/render setup? if its dark when extracted, its most likely supposed to be that way, the viewer doesnt really have a solid light source, its all lit completely. maybe. It's not max, I've been working with max since I was in 6th grade lol, I find myself brightening a lot of the textures manually. I know h2-reach have the "Texture blending" system, where they will add a 50% grey overlay on the diffuse, or a over-all solid color specular, I'm just having difficulty on how to accurately bake it all into one, when I'm using things on CE. E: figured it out, finally. Edited by Ki11erFTW on Nov 15, 2012 at 10:26 PM

Another ghost render. Using Autodesk Showcase 2013, a program useful for making photo-realistic realtime renders. I am new to it, but learning more about how it's shaders work everyday Liking my results, but it's possible to get it looking VERY real, I'd need an environment though. Any particular things people want me to render using this? I wouldn't mind the practice. EDIT: (Copy URL/Right-Click View Full Image for HD res) Edited by iHalo on Nov 17, 2012 at 03:12 PM

It's awesome, I am publishing (showcase's word for render) a 30 second orbit around it, with an environment and raytracing in 1080p. i will share when done. The raytracing looks amazing, but my PC isn't quick enough to do it real time, so I am rendering it.

but I have better things to do than get into an argument with them over the internet. and so should the rest of you. Edited by t3h m00kz on Nov 17, 2012 at 03:12 PM Obviously you don't have better things to do, or you would have made no comment at all. Only once have I shown off one of my applications, and I had every intention of releasing it, as I have stated multiple times. The other time zteam as a whole showed off an application was for the h2 animation injector, which was never released mainly because people complained and threw a fit about not getting the extractor to go along with it. You can't bite the hand that feeds you and expect to get what you want, plain and simple. I love how the mentality around here has not changed at all. I have not posted anything that I have worked on in almost 2.5 years now, so I would love to hear how I am "flaunting" my stuff. Quote: --- Original message by: Disco Banana I can't believe ShadowSpartan join CMT, he will acknowledge the CMT members not to release the latest tags and let the placeholder tags to be used when releasing a map. No clue what you are ranting on about, but I think you are seriously confused. For your information, I have no say in what CMT does or does not release. I only do a few small things for them here and there. Quote: --- Original message by: Disco Banana I can't believe CtrlAltDestroy have to work with someone like ShadowSpartan, why would CAD use ShadowSpartan's rips he if can model, animate, script and almost everything Halo CE modding related. What brought CAD into this...one of our goals was to create fun and exciting conversions using existing assets. Quote: --- Original message by: Disco Banana ShadowSpartan your programming skills is not for showing here, it's for getting a job and a life and not for showing off it here. You know that we're going to fap on the super rips, i admit that i need supreme rips like the Halo 3 animations. Yet again, I have shown absolutely nothing in the last 2.5 years. Quote: --- Original message by: Disco Banana I'm not doing this because i want rips but to the attitude you use here in the internet, the way you reply to the respected member Lodex ( even though he's a ironic guy ) Even you have more skills than him, he's more respected since he contributes rather than show-off a special application. Respected member, wow. He starts a fight with myself and others any chance he gets, and he is like talking to a brick wall. From what I hear, he is causing quite an argument in the Delta Halo thread as well. Is it really that hard for you people to leave this thread alone with mentioning myself and zteam, it is getting ridiculous. Let gravemind do his thing and stop cluttering up the thread with this crap.

By extractor, I meant the animation extractor. We were planning on providing a proper model extractor along with the animation injector.

Very rudimentary question, but I can't seem to find the means to do so within the program for the life of me. Click on render models on the side, then click a model, then click raw extractor, extract model. Easy as pie.

For models: - Select the Raw Extractor tab
- Open the render_model folder
- Select desired model
- Select desired pieces of the model from the checkbox list
- Click Export Model
- Select the format you wish to use in the save as filetype list
EMF scripts are in Tools > Generate MaxScripts. The EMFv2 script can open v1 as well. For bitmaps: - Select the Raw Extractor tab
- Open the bitmap folder
- Select desired bitmap
- Select desired submap if there is more than one in the table
- Right-click the desired submap and select Extract Bitmap
- Select the format you wish to use in the save as filetype list
The Model Viewer tab is for previewing the models before extracting, and may not work on all computers. If you have problems you may need to install .NET Framework 4.0 if it isn't already installed. Edited by Gravemind on Nov 17, 2012 at 11:59 PM

It separates it into submeshes rather than just permutations. This makes it far easier to flip backwards faces as well as preventing extra faces between the meshes. It also made it much easier for me to do the material importing.
