i had a look and noticed that the forge bsp parts are exportable, i did however expect this since the parts are just models the same as any other model in reach.
anyway this almost stopped me finishing a reach map i've been doing in spare time.
2 nights ago i was close to cheating by just fixing all these bsp parts up and joining them all together (sounds easier than it actually is) to make my own map look better but this would render my own time spent as wasted so i'll just continue with my own version of it.

one thing i did notice when these models are exported is that things like glass and decals show as flipped faces, i guess the material isn't being exported as part of the textures, or special rendering materials are not being seen when exporting the models.

to make things easier click view on the top menu of adjudiant and select folder heiarchy this will list off the models in their actual folders. then search for an object that you want. then click on the .mode file within the folder, it should work fine after that

also make sure that you have campaign.map (for extracting from campaign maps) , manimenu.map, and shared.map in the same folder of the map you are extracting from. this is crucial because if you do not the extractor will exception and crash because it could not find those map files.

@ally I can't really fix the flipped faces, but I made it as easy as possible to fix them without spending too much time on it.

that's cool, i was happy enough with seeing the models as refs, that made it a bit better for seeing where certain smoothing groups needed to be, i never really wanted an exact replica anyway. :)

Do you have Mainmenu.map, Shared.map and Campaign.map? If not, get them, and that will fix your exception.

hey, I'm running on a french computer and I have issues which I believe to appear because of the regional settings, adjutant works fine when I turn my PC on american parameters.

I think it's because we use the comma as a decimal separator or something like this, could you fix it for any language ?

Regional settings shouldn't affect Adjutant, so I don't know what's causing it. What's the error?

Just a quick warning, that site's very unreliable. It goes down for days at a time sometimes, and, in my experience, some downloads become corrupt. The best way is to get them from the disk yourself.

you could do that but a majority of the textures and models are shared between the maps so downloading them all is not nessecary.

i would suggest starting off by downloading waste and citadel (the ark, and the covenant) because they will have the majority of the textures you need. and i would also suggest downloading the sidewinder mp map (avalanche) because it has all the snow iterations of the vehicle textures.

basically watch footage of game-play on the maps, and if you see something that you like download the map.

I was looking around at some files the other day, i noticed that some vehices that are supposed to have illuminated parts dont have a bitmap for them, but a shader called indicator_holo. Does anyone know what this is and where the bitmaps for the illum are? For example, the spirit dropship has tons of glowy parts but the only bitmaps it comes with are tuning_fork_diffuse and tuning_fork_bump. nothing about an illum at all

I think i mentioned it already that i uploaded the Reach elites with every permutation, every texture, a fixed bone rig and IK constraints, likewise for the marines, if you want them, you can PM me and i'll be glad to hand it off to you.


On a side note. Any new updates gravemind?

Normal modifier as far as i know just controls how faces are oriented in respect to the view.

However, if you want to figure out how it'll help you when using the imported EMF files, here's how. If you have an object with inverted faces, all you have to do is check (or uncheck dependingly) the "flip normals" checkbox and everything will be set. Nothing extra is required to fix the faces

That's an error with your max file, nothing to do with Adjutant. It looks like you moved/deleted the images from the location they were meant to be in.

Look in the meta of its shader tags, if they don't reference an illum map they don't use one. I still need to update the internal Reach shader plugins though, I'll have to do that next update. Not sure when that will be though, because I have exams soon.

The normal modifier was an attempt to fix some of the flipped faces, and also makes it easier to fix the remaining ones seeing as you can just tick the "flip normals" checkbox instead of flipping them in the editable mesh modifier.

Hey, I notcied there is a problem with model imports :
When you import, the weights of the skin modifier aren't applied for the main bone, which creates a set of 0 weights vertex which is hard to fix without re-rigging the whole model
And re rigging is a big pain since there are thousands of vertices...
It would be cool if that can be fixed

Hey guys, when ever I try to open a model in 3ds with the EMF Importer, I always get some error like "No "*" function for undefined". Any ideas why that's happening?

This should only happen with a few Reach bipeds, everything else should be fine.

You may be using the wrong script. Adjutant exports EMFv2 by default, so unless you changed it you'll need v2 of the script. Go to "Tools > Generate MaxScripts" and select the EMFv2 importer script and use that to import the models.

it was with the spartan laser, but I re-rigged it yesterday...
And I have another problem, don't know if you'd like to look into it but the JMS exporter is slow as hell, could you think a way to make it work faster ? that'd be cool :D :D :D

That depends on the model, Halo Reach models are like in a ridiculous amount of polies, try to optimize the poly and triangle count. Also it depends on your computer.

Some reach models I found export in a few minutes...while some take a few hours ._.

Have anyone tried this Adjutant with the new HALO 4 Xbox Iso ?


Would be Reaaly cool if there is some possibility to Start looking for ways to view Their Models ... It seams that is using the Same Engine As REACH inspite of heavy modified The models format should be near same .
