The rocks in that pic should be a bit further apart from the forerunner structure wall.

Valhalla looks a lot prettier now. Despite how I don't like being told what to do in an update thread, of course, I know all of you will be like OMGZ ADD A GROUND MAP. So I'll say that I'm making a ground map.

Looking pretty good. The only thing I have an issue with is the grass. Is it a ground bitmap or just a tiled bitmap with no ground bitmap?

At least make the textures a higher res than what they are now.

Tile a detail texture at like a .13 scale of the base texture for the bases in the shader. It looks a bit too tiled and that might work well to fix that.

Waterfalls are just planes with a sliding texture applied to them, so I'm not sure how they could have "physics"

They're already using halo 3 stock bitmaps which is 1024x1024, pretty "higher res" if you ask me.

this is looking fantastic! I like the fact that you mad this from scratch too and not ripping it. It shows you have true skill. Keep up the good work!

Also, fix shaders. Textures look kind of blurry.

okay i'll specify, look here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pzJFFUN6FZ0 and you see that i have made a beta version of it, it bathers me that people don't add detail when they could and should, it would make they're maps far more popular and way more fun to play, and for all of you wandering if it will make the game run slower, the answer is no, in that video my computer wasn't the one lagging it was the recorder, so tell me what you think of the idea, and as always sorry for no sound and pore quality

You mean detail object collections? Yeah.
I also don't think the geometry needs 'a lot of work.' It needs 'some work,' of course, so we'll see.
I've had mancannons to work before. The system I used (for narrows) was a bit laggy, honestly due to the lack of a proper script
As long as I'm updating, I'll tell you my priorities list:
1-Add pelican
2-Work on ground pattern map more (you guys always hate my grass?)
3-Make snow seamsealers
4-Halo 3 scenery
5-Mancannons
etc

I think the grass needs to be smaller, but other than that it looks amazing.

Just one question, can you make scenery permutations? that randomly change each time the map is loaded?
For example:
A small bush has 5 different perms, all different bushes around the same size.
Every time the map is loaded, they change between the perms.
Geddit?

that wouldn't look too bad in this, for sure. it'd have to be placed around a lot more and smaller, but it's got potential

okay guys as i said this is a beta, i am taking your suggestions and am putting them into action, olly12345, yes.i can make the grass smaller, the only reason i made it that big was because i wanted it to look like it had been uncut for a while, as for it changing. i will look into it, i will be observing the small bush tag, i hadn't seen that that one changed. but i knew that the rocks did

HIAHG,i don't see why the finished product would look to bad, in modeling i could make it so it's smaller and so it isn't one patch of grass per one piece of scenery, it could be done easily, and something for me, i am planing on making it less 2-D, if you sough in that video that if you look at it from the side it disappears for a moment, than you know what i'm talking about

Yeah, you can make scenery permutations that load randomly each and every time. That's how I do backpacking weapons, too.
I can't tell if your 3d-grass is a detail object or scenery. Either way, you'll see some scenery grass and detail object grass in valhalla.

honestly that stuff would look bad with lots of them together in big open spaces, just use detail object collections.

and slappy, your ground geometry needs to be smoother. you can tell from all the pictures so far that the ground geometry isn't very smooth.

There is actually brush in some places I should try and use scenery for. We don't know until we test it out.
I know about my geometry, thanks. You've said that already.
