I've working on the spartans shaders (still need multiporpose) but now, looks better :D...srry if i cant' show all spartans atm, idk why rogue and scout dont appears :S....still with collision problem D:

Use a multimap on the visor's so they can be brighter and the reflections be better :P

yeah i know, im just waiting for mangenkyo's multi maps to do it, and yeah, the shoulders, the chest and the helment change individually :D but im having problems with the collision :S but don't worry we will fix it

The spartans are, in fact, part of this project. Same with the peli. Not the tank. Stop threadjacking.

in the first picture, many of the black lines are way too pronounced, the top of the mark v and security helmets are good examples. any lines like that on the armor should be toned down. big black lines do not equal complex details

the "bump lighting" on the second image I'm guessing is baked into the diffuse bitmap. it looks good, better than most "fake bumps" (should be called ambient occolusion) I've seen, but there are many areas where the light source seems to be coming from different angles. look at the leg and arm armor, it appears as if the armor is being lit from the bottom, where as the helmet seems to be being lit from the sides. the "holes" in the hand plate seem to be being lit from the front of the spartan. you want them to be lit from the top, downwards, based on the position the spartan will usually be in. if the lighting is baked into the diffuse via bumps or normals or whatever, I'd say get a spartan in the standard assault rifle position, cast a light, and then bake the bumps. because right now it's all over the place

on that note, anyone who does "fake bumps" should freaking just bake the lights into the bitmap rather than screw around in photoshop to get big black lines

the armor color is way too flat. it looks cartoony and like plastic. there is no variation in it, it's the same shade of green everywhere. there's no way armor would ever look like that unless it were taken directly from a factory and polished to a mirror sheen specifically for display purposes

Slappy the Mark VI and Mark V look good. I'd cut the permutations that have a lo of visor though. Tends to look awful in the Halo CE engine. If your looking for help on your shaders I can refer you to someone?

Whist we all dislike the shaders, nobody is willing to teach, share, or work on them. Soon it will be time to actively ask for help or tags, rather than continue to fail at shaders.

Also, I'd just like everyone to know that the BSP has been scaled up to a more Halo 3-ish size already. The BSP update vid has been postpones until I can get some more stuff to show off, like new waterfall bitmaps or tripmine effects or something.

hey slappeh... still kinda confuzlled as to what a shader is but is it the overlay that determines what spectrum of light gets through? [the wierd colouredy thingy?] cuz ive done those before and they were kinda easy... also what file format is a "shader"? id love to help i really would im just a little new to teh haxlo modding

It would be great if everyone would put aside their egos and worked together, we all have the same interest, and the quality of maps and tags would be awesome and continue to improve. But instead it seems like they just keep getting redone.
I guess in the end it's the immaturity of some of those who frequent these forums, spread negativity and start flame wars over nothing that makes people not want to share their knowledge and creations, it's a shame really because it's those negative people who are holding CE back and may very well contribute to its' downfall.
Meanwhile, excellent work on the map slappy, I hope some good people offer you all the help you need, I'm looking forward to the release of the map :)

I'm glad that people want to make the map look better. It takes more than one person to judge how something looks.
These are the different areas of shaders:
-Cyborg (imo could look better)
-Bases (imo are ok)
-Grass (imo is easy to fix)
My xfire is slappythepirate... however xfire has stopped working for me since the March 1 update.
