i thought of a way to make the typical damage effect work pretty well on multi player, make it have an incredibly small area that it reaches, then make it do however much instantaneous acceleration you need to make it go as far as you need, and since it's not hitting you constantly with a little bit of damage and instead it does all of the acceleration at the one small point, it sends you flying, it might be a little laggy just as you hit it, but since you aren't constantly being pushed and your just flying, it would be like on multi player with a team game and one of your teammates hits you with a warthog, you don't really see it happen, but after that your free to aim\shoot\be shot, as you fly


opinions?

The crashed pelican is not scenery, so sadly, it isn't rippable.

I don't like the damage effect method because it's super laggy and only work when created on a case-by-case basis. The vehicles are the way to go, I think.
and you can shoot with my method, too... I think the best way to explain would be a video. I don't have the time this week to record it, but definitely this weekend you'll all be visually up to date.

The firefight bsp is pretty small. There's no real scenery, just a complex of platforms and angles, holes and doors meant for firefight. I don't know if people would even play it.

i don't see why it would be that laggy?, the old style that stretches it out and puts it over a longer amount of time i could see, but if all of the acceleration happens at the same time. and thats when you hit the small point that it can reach, so it might lag just as you hit the..(lets call it push point), it might lag just as you hit the push point, but then you would catch up to yourself and be able to shoot\be shot ect. not contradicting you, just asking why it would lag for the whole time even though it shouldn't

just find a friend to play asgard and go on the mancannon and see how it lags when you're in mid air (it might of been the connection but the last time i used a mancannon online it lagged in mid air

your not getting what i'm saying, that (most likely) is the normal way of making them, like in sandtrap?, what i'm suggesting is that you make is to all of the push at the beginning so it only lags the second you hit it, and then you catch up and it only takes about 1 second, haven't tried it but i'm asking why it wont work, and the reasons your giving only apply to the other kind

Damage effect cannons are laggy because the server might tell the client to go somewhere that doesn't match what has been happening on the client's screen in between pings.
Vehicle cannons don't lag as much in mid-air, because it's basically a vehicle entering animation.

oh, so your vehicle teleporters are only entering animations, and you.v got a script on them to make you exit just as you enter, is true, how can you shoot while your entering and exiting?

You'll see. It's a combo of the player's enter animation stance and the vehicle idle animation combined with creation time and player number.

um, i believe the two things that come across the bottom of the mask are supposed to be white :/

wait, slappy. is that BR on the left side a weapon or equipment?, if it's an equipment. how did you get it to stay up?

hmm, i'm not sure if it's the detail map or what but i'm seeing a tone of dirt, i know it's supposed to look old and used, but it looks like he is dirty not battle worn, sorry for posting so much but if you could make the reflection map look fogged, add a few little dents and divots to the actual bitmaps, and make it look less dusty then i think it would look more like in h3, sorry if i sound rude i'm not trying to, it's just one persons opinion

Actually, it should shine a bit, if you played halo 3, when light shines on the rubber, it gives away a bright silver/white tone.

Oh, I guess they're "mine". Bitmaps are bungie's, of course, but the multis were made by me. Still getting the hang of it. I am trying to mimic some good multi maps I have seen.
Still to-do is getting the regulator helmet to have white-only cheek-plates, and making those rubber parts more bright or whatever.
Some really specific instruction would be cool. Xfire still doesn't work in this laptop.

The March update has kept it from working on this windows 7 laptop. I keep trying different things, but to no avail.

march update seems to have given a lot of people problems.
i had a problem myself a soon as that update was applied but i just uninstalled it then ran ccleaner to clear the registry and reinstalled xfire.works like a charm now.
i reckon you maybe already have done the above but incase not,give it a try.

I don't know if this was mentioned, but I know some people were discussing the pelican scenery about 2 pages ago, but just so you know, there already is a pelican scenery in Halo. It's in 343 Guilty Spark. I believe the directory is tags\scenery\vehicles\pelican_crashed

Just so you don't have to go and remake something that's already done >_>

they want a halo 3 crashed peli, not halo 1 so it makes the map look like it's more professionally made and like it's in the right time period

It's already professionally made, what did you think? Almost everything was made by bungie and ripped by others. o.O

nooo. if you put a halo 1 pelican in a halo 3 style map it looks thrown together and "unprofessional" I.E if your making a halo 3 map use halo 3 tags if your making a halo 1 map, then that peli would suit it, if it's halo 3 it needs halo 3 tags to look like a halo 3 map, hence, H3 pelican

but it's made for custom edition, whats so custom about using the wrong tag? he's using a halo 3 pelican so the map looks more halo 3 and has no tags from the wrong time period

What's custom about using the wrong tag you say? It makes it custom by mixing things together.
