Get the hell over it. You do realize that this is a 7 year old game, and half the people here are only here to do this for fun? The people that actually want to get somewhere in video game design wouldn't be ripping, and they'd probably be in a better engine by now.

imo ripping is ok if you give credit to the author, they made the tags.But Dennis is right when he says they are nobody's.That doesn't mean you should rip willy nilly and steal everything in sight.And usually if people can't rip something they want or can't find it, they will decide to learn how to make it themselves. And when they do that, it opens a wide variety of windows for them in the community.Plus people might learn things by modding with ripped content, like they might become breilliant scripters. And if none of this happens most people play this game and mod for fun anyway. Also if the author doesn't get credit they shouldn't throw a big fit like a five year old because what have you lost?None of this stuff will affect your life in any way outside the computer.You should be happy someone is using your content.And it's not like you're ever going to meet these people in real life so stop fighting with them. This game is just a game, so model, animate, rip, idk what the heck you do just enjoy the game.

Not once have I ever heard of someone becoming a brilliant SCRIPTER as a result of ripping.

As I've posted before, it's not that I dislike ripping, it's that I dislike the FLAUNTING of rips (cough pakar cough), and the bragging when people rip. I remember back in 08 - 09, rippers tended to keep stuff silent, and they didn't try to brag about ripping. Late 09 brought in HCERipper, which made everyone seem to think that ripping was ok and bragging about ripping was cool. For whoever-I-still-hold-sacred's sake, stop showing off screenshots and videos of ripped stuff and stuffing it in the original creator's face. Go ahead and rip, if you want, and learn, but I see no reason for you guys to show it off just to annoy the original creator.

If any of you say that if we don't want our stuff ripped, we shouldn't release, THEN STOP COMPLAINING when we don't release. As delicon and countless others said, we should do what we want to enjoy the game. It's hardly enjoyable when you guys brag about ripping and flaunt rips in front of us.

"Ripping" is bad if you don't give all of the credit to the original creators. With that said, any work you have done can be credited as your work. If you didn't do jack and said the ripped work was all yours, then it's an issue of social and potentially legal matters (if you go for profit).

Why are you guys arguing about ripping? It's your choice if you want to do it or not. There's no reason for flaming each other just for a simple little subject.

They prove you have 'fun,' yes, and prove you're a rule breaker as well.

Halo CE had a similar timeline as Gmod. The first few years it was out, people were making original content. Maps, game modes, models, animations, the works. But now people are ripping content and calling it "effort" so that they may have the same experience from another game in gmod. Saying that it is "only a hobby and I don't care about creative effort" is no excuse in any case. It just shows laziness, and the fact that the user is only in it to isolate the crowd of people who want "the halo 3 experience" in halo CE. We have seen it all before, stop ripping, it doesn't make you look any better than before when you ripped yet another asset.

If your calling me a rule breaker for being offtopic I can agree, but it was to prove the point everyone is happy when you aren't debating over something. In which case would improve the community when you forget about past issues and move on with the future.
