Well I tried using a sky box method instead of a sphere or dome. And for some reason i get this distortion along the edges of the box.

I know it isnt the uvs for sure.

It is not in the bitmap either.

There's no need to quote his pictures. You were only the second person to reply. Anyways how did you add the skybox? Did you just make a box with the material id +sky and put the map into it or did you connect the box to the map? [-] or [_].

It is its own .sky tag. Each face has its own material.

This is why you don't use a box.

I said. It isnt the uvs. The uv coordinates are perfected.

Just import bloodgulch's sky into max and adjust and add or remove planes. Change bitmaps and mess with shaders.
There is no reason to use a box.

And its edge bleeding :)

So because you can't do it right, you're going to do it wrong instead?

Why would it be my fault that it will not work. I'm not the one that made it edge bleed or what ever reason the skybox is like this. I want to fix that problem which is why I made this thread. If your not going to help then stop posting. I want to fix this problem.

There are 6 textures, each face unwrapped over the whole texture.

DEE, have you tried making each face its own object?

dont do that.
unwrap the cube and use the grid snaps, then use the grid snaps in photoshop to place the textures on the unwrap.

The simple parametrization flag is only in the shader tag.

Does this happen with any other sky?

No, usually skies use a hemisphere for the model rather than a box.

I told you the problem and you refuse to accept it. How can anyone help you if your not willing to try it a different way?

I'm pretty sure he means that he can't do it the right way because of a technical problem, so he settled for this method, which is also causing him problems.

No, there is nothing stopping him from using a sphere/hemisphere instead of a box.
And he has known for ages how skies are done properly but just refuses to do it.
Choking Victim told him how to do it right, i told him how you can use a box and Masters has told him a bunch of times in the past.

No, he doesn't want to do it the right way because he doesn't want to use a normal sized texture. He only wants to use an unnecessarily large texture size, which halo ce has a problem with.

He just wants to experiment to see if he can get it to be higher res, that's why he doesn't want to use a hemisphere. He made this thread in hopes someone could help him do this. No need to freak out everyone.

case solved, detective corn out.

On the 3 maps I released the skybox a was box and this has never happened. Not sure what caused it.

You made the custom sky a box or the skybox in your bsp was a box?
