this all looks verry good, when will be the first releace.

and with the grifball, how are you going to make 3 different areas (or more) because then each person will have to download them all, alot of dling. and like someone hosts 1, and you have only downloaded the other, then you wouldent be abil to play...im just saying

unless you can scrip into it somehow that each time u open it changes, but i dont think you can do that.

From the first and second tests I've played, the map wasn't very big. 20 MB maybe, but that was just a plane in space. It shouldn't take long to download the maps because there are only 3 custom tags (Sword, Hammer, and if someone animates the ball) and a little sort of arena which now they'll have more details so it might be bumped up to 30 MB. Still not so much, even with my crappy internet I can download 30 MB files in about 2 minutes from Halomaps.

Could you possible make a grifball map that was themed after the fight arena of a coliseum? I think it would be pretty cool if you could play some grifball in a map that had that as a background. You could even add in some random broken down columns or Greeco-Roman walls.

No sorry, all of our griffball maps will be halo based. The map thats in progress right now is quite coliseum-like; in a forerunner way.

CMT made alot of maps...and people still downloaded each one. Since this has no vehicles, or any fancy stuff it will have a small size, and people will end downloading every map too.

now about the release, it will probably be after the release of downfall, since currently the whole team (including my self) is focusing on this.

As Geo said, every court will be Halo themed, being the first one on the icey Instalation 02, after this one probably a covenant court could come up, and so on. Most likely a court per faction (Covenant, Human, Forerunner, Flood)..of course, this doesnt mean there will just be 1 of each type, so probably expect more than a forerunner court and so on.

I think there should be an arena based on a human map, a covenant map, and a forerunner map.
So that you have 3 different arenas, all set in the time of Halo

All of the weapons but the athenian laser (the concept works, the model just isn't compiled yet) are ingame. We won't be posting anymore pictures of these until they are skinned.

I was hoping to somehow implement it for defensive areas in the map somehow. Especially because I want to start working on a new flamer particle effect.

in retrospect, i can see the flame thrower on downfall as either being TOTALLY and utterly whored in some of the small areas, or totally and utterly useless out in the open. there isnt much middle ground for it.
i personally would love to see it in the map, or at least have it so a certain gametype will allow it to spawn. i love the flamer.
perhaps on a different map

im thinking about it though, and the flamer on blood gulch is never really a problem. myself and one other person are the only 2 people i have ever seen use the flamer on that map, and its pretty much all open. downfall might actually have a use for the flamer if we tweak the damage, range, effects, and find a useful spot for it.
if i could get an unprotected build of the map guys, i could try a new layout of weapons

Its not supposed to be a remake of the halo sniper. It just uses that style. It is supposed to look like that.

then it means you havent seen it ingame...it looks like a toy sniper.

The new one is just great, and the silencer feature makes it aswome! everybody hail the LW50-SAM (Light Weight 50 cal - Silenced Anti-Material) sniper rifle!!


Edit: There shouldnt be a reason for making it longer...its an LCD screen like the one the halo3 sniper uses, so this means it works with some sort of a camera. Nowday web cams dont need to be uber long to view stuff, so this one shouldnt be either...also that its 500 years into the future lol

The first sniper also had alot of bad angles on it. The new has a much lower tri count, and the model is clean and neat.


Edit: I took a side shot because that angle is a bit misleading.

probably when you want to steal the flag or something without having 8 guys from the other team from noting you are there you will love it.


with the stuff we are introducing you could get in and steal the flag by your self without getting killed:

silenced SMG: kill any guards near the flag without the rest of the team hearing you from afar
silenced sniper rifle: kill other players guarding the base with a silenced bullet with less contrail and muzzle flash
Flare: blind everybody inside the base and get out so a team mate picks you up in a hog.

Edit: nah, i see your point really, i just don't like their lack of detail, but i suppose when you skin it it will look better

alot better, a nice example is the skinned spiker and the SMG. And no, they cant do the same since there will only spawn 1 flare at a time, so it wont happen.

Now to counter this stealthy-1man attack you could go classic shotty camping:

Assault rifle or Battle rifle: shoot and kill the stealth guy from a distance using the montion tracker in case he blinds you.

Shotgun: best defensive option, blast him away from the flag!

bubble Shield: If he uses the flare, then protect the flag with the bubble shield and get your team mates inside it. Incase the enemy snipes or shoots with a SMG, you will be waiting inside with your shotgun...just guide yourself with the motion tracker since you will be blinded by the flare.
