Ok so i just made this familie shot in sapien,

and yea i vote for retexture too, the ranks can all be done through recolouring the shaders in guerilla, no big deal, ranks solved. the only thing it needs it more detaills, and i don't mean detail maps (the bitmap) but a real overhaul, it can be done later on though

P.S. If you will be able to through grenades, it will need to be fixed. As an elite, when you through them, it simply falls straight down at your feet for some reason.

EDIT: Also, you should include the weapon-on-back mod where you can see your secondary weapon. With 3rd person, I think this will add that extra bit of realism and quality.

first of all, the nade falls at your feet? wtf? you're not looking down i hope? every elite model throws it, it even has it's own animation, just takes a bit longer to thaw them compared to MC =P

yea some backpack would be nice, but if it were that easy then we'd all done it i guess, i've looked into that and concluded it would take some time to do that, first we've gotta decide wich models to use, the standard ones? Hdoans elites? rip them ourselfes? model a new one?
after that we should look into that yea

PS: gimme some reasons to post screenshots, i'm gfx addict <3

Yes, when you play as a grunt or elite and throw a grenade, it just falls down at your feet, no matter where you are looking.

As for the model, I say you keep it Halo CE. Using new models will just leak away all the fun of being an elite - keep it as the Halo 1 model.

And with the backpack script, I got as far as to adding the new nodes to the biped for a small and large weapon. As for the actual script, I guess you will need to do some research on that, or try and find a tutorial on that. I'll try and find one if there are any, or ask some people whom I know have already made such a mod.


You import the model of the weapon on your back, put it where you want it to be on the rigged biped model, make it a new region, and repeat with all the other regions, creating new permutations.

It's hard to notice the Halo 2 corroded metal detail map that i replaced the default one with, but anyways, if someone wants to reskin it with more details (doesn't have to be CMTish) then that would be great

I recall this happening when I played as an Elite using bump possession in campaign. I saw a video where this was fixed. Look at this video and scroll to 2:42.

The grenade toss there seemed to work fine. I'm also okay with not being able to move and throw grenades at the same time. I think that this mod should try to imitate everything the computer Elite do when you fight them. The game should be made in 3rd person perspective and you should have the Elite melee that they do in campaign as well, it's much stronger than Master Chief's melee attack...if you noticed in when you play campaign the Elite melee seems to dominate the flood.

And about how the plasma sword works. It should work and look exactly like the sword functions in that video above. It should definitely have those sword swinging animations...it looks like it would be so satisfying to use. PLEASE don't make it like the halo 2 sword with the super speed lunge attack...that's not in Halo 1. I think that using the sword when someone gets close to you automatically is fine, I think it's interesting. I also like how the melee attack worked that way using bump possession on an Elite.

If I remember correctly the sword in that video above ANNIHILATES the Flood...I remember theres this one part where you're on a bridge and Flood jump from the bridge across from you. Theres a Gold Elite with a sword and if you zoom in you can see him fight the Flood that get in his way. They just get torn apart with one swing; it looks awesome.

To be quite honest, reskinning the halo 1 elite is nice but not necessary. What matters to me is gameplay and a good storyline. This project wasn't said to be a conversion or of the sort, so I don't think these skins and little details are a primary, nor a secondary, or even a tertiary objective. Of course I wouldn't mind the elite being reskinned, as well as the backpack mod being implemented, but as long as the story is consistent and the gameplay is good, I couldn't care less.

The one from halo 1 was just pure light, could hardly see a shape in it, it looks more like a beta-beta to me, but if more people think it's cool i'll make some action shots with that instead of the halo 2 sword ^^

Maybe we should make a custom UI that goes along with this campaign?

The covenant had an AI too, like cortana, the books didn't tell us that much about it, so we could have some freedom in thinking of one, it also helps narrating some hints and stuff on certain points, like cortana did.

I vote for Alma as hologram, since we don't know if it's male or female, lol
