October 26th and TSC:E isn't out yet, i think RabbitFood's prediction of TSC being released this month might be wrong.

The stream did get boring after a while, but to me that was just because the player insisted on using the same two or three weapons over and over again instead of branching out to handle different encounters. He didn't play SPV3 how it was meant to be played.

That and the streamer's lack of memorability of the original CE was astonishing. The streamer was also not prepared nor entertaining.

One thing that really got me was the fact that he always killed himself with the Gravity Grenade.

@teh lag So is there a testing or beta testing sign up for TSC:E or..
Edited by mvandam753 on Oct 25, 2014 at 11:10 PM

They pick their testers. Asking to be a tester almost certainly guarantees you aren't chosen, last I heard. Besides, they need to make sure whoever they pick won't just take the game and play it instead of looking for bugs.

You know I would ask, cuz boredom and I could tell you that I am very good at findign screw ups cuz I do all the time. but I have no evidence to back it up, so I should get some. *tells stormundblackbird to give him the old takedown beta*

Honestly, I don't even know why you guys would want to test this, besides your impatience.

Watching the SPV3 stream, while interesting, really brought home the fact that you can only mod a game so much before it gets boring.

But B30:E, that's an entirely new bsp, an entirely new experience. Why ruin that experience with an unfinished product?

You know beta testers are there to improve the experience of the people who get the final product, and I'm not part of this> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eE3WmxOMDCw for nothing

To be fair, I find most of the parts of Halo CE campaign to be not so memorable. Only things I remember fondly were the beginning of a10 and a30. b30 as a whole, c10 because of how atmospheric it was. The rest... not so much.

I guess it's just me but I memorize games quite well.

Some Hunters and a Brute Chieftain use it, but for an assortment of reasons (some technical limitations, some design limitations) the player won't be able to.

Some of the remaining items can necessit a lot of work, depending on how much have already be done... And I don't think Teh lag is in charge of most of them

eg :
- Apply cluster sound env properties to updated BSPs : terribly long and boring, even more boring if the level have been extended and cut in many clusters (which are certainly seeing the amount of detail added)
Pelican :
- Import redone body, textures : shouldn't take long ( 1 hour ?)
- Create busted crashsite model : could take like 5 hours of work depending on the quality and detail.
Hunter :
-Model is done, yay !
-about the textures, it coud take a very long moment to be done, i'd say around 6-10 hours depending if UVs and cage have been done, but less if it's made by an experienced mudbox/zbrush user through sculpting.
- VFX for back-armor destruction : shouldn't be hard for someone experienced, around 1-2 hours
- Merge in upgraded foliage tags : No idea what this means exactly.

Now you have to figure out who can work for this and how long by weeks and you can estimate release date, I guess. I'm speaking from my experience, so I may be wrong

Yeah, it does make sense canonically too. In the books, when an Elite let go of his Energy Sword, the failsafe would activate and it would permenantly shut down. With a Fuel Rod gun, once it overheated, it would explode any remaining fuel rods and destroy the launcher mechanism inside it.

On the list I see that the new Hunter Model is done :)
Just that it has to get textured. Just realised that 5 items remain on the list, holy crap.

Okay, the Hunter Fuel Rod Gun I understand, but, what technical and design issues prevent a normal Fuel Rod Gun from being used?

This is taken directly from the Halo Wiki: "The Type-33 is extremely powerful, and as such the Covenant went to great lengths to ensure it does not fall into enemy hands - it was originally equipped with a fail-safe that would activate under certain conditions, either when the user drops the weapon without first engaging a safety or if the weapon runs out of ammunition and is not reloaded within a certain amount of time."

Design: the only non-Hunter FRG appears at a point in the map where giving the player an FRG would throw a wrench into the map's current progression. It wasn't part of the original design for the surrounding areas for the player to have that sort of weapon. As a result, the question of "will it improve the map to let player use this" was answered with "no probably not".

Technical: we don't have enough room in the map for another gun, nor do we have a high-quality FRG model suitable for the FP view, nor do we have time left in our development cycle to free up the necessary space + develop the requisite new art assets. We're maxed out on basically every relevant limit there is: model data, number of tags, tag size, total map size... And a one-time-use gun (since there's only one non-Hunter FRG unit in the map) just isn't high enough on the priority list.

Between you and me, if certain technical limitations are cleared it's not out of the question that the gun might make a limited appearance in a certain secret manner.

Not a fan of the FRG. It bounces instead of exploding.

I like the color scheme, but it does seem weird on a military vehicle. I understand that it was done to give players a quick means of distinguishing between standard Warthogs and rocket Warthogs in multiplayer, but none of the other games use alternate paintjobs for their Warthog variants, so I think we've reached the point where we can handle identifying vehicles by their turrets alone.

In early screenshots, the rocket 'Hog was green with yellow decals, as opposed to black. Perhaps this could be something to consider.

The rockethog is pretty overpowered in MP. It needs an obvious, "oh crap here is comes!" paintjob, so that footsoldiers can instantly spot it and prepare for it.

In campaign, yes, I would prefer for it to have a more subtle coloration, like the green/yellow.
