no updates, yet, I am working on something for the third BSP but unless anyone can supply me with a working BSP for the H3 map guardian then its not going to be able to get much further for now, I do have a bsp for H3 guardian, but it has too many errors in it for me to bother fixing involving co-current triangles, it also takes 9 hours to compile to tell me about these errors, so you can see why I haven't got any further currently.

looking good doom899!
I have some good news! after much deliberation, smacking heads against walls and other such complaints sourcing from a rather unusual problem with my map I am proud to present the probably final versions of BSP's 1, 2 and 3 in this map file, enjoy, all I have to do now is get a working version of the Guardian map BSP (Which I am making progress on at last) and I can finish this project. here is the link to the updated map:

indecently, doom899, don't know if you noticed, but there is a sentinel laser leaning up against the door near where the second lot of sentinels are (the door next to the second stair case) also, this map fixes some other bugs present in the first 2 BSP's.

yeah I did see it
but I was doing the video as fast as I could at the time so I didn't have time to get it.

.I like the map it was hard and fun but some of the tags needed fixing. but thanks I do the best I can it's good you like it

yeah, I know what you mean, Its the custom scenery objects that don't fade into the fog, Its easy to fix that, but it is also time consuming. Its not really something that messes with the game play currently so I'm not going to fix it until after the BSP's are all done. also, Ive fixed some of the problems with unit fire points so that they follow you around a bit more making it harder to hide. (such as if you try to run away from the first enforcer)

as for the music, I only really want music for the banshee chase and possibly the final boss fight, the music I have currently works fine as far as im concerned, but I might add some H3 stuff in the final BSP. I want the first and third BSP's and most of the 4th one to be absent of music because it makes it more eerie.

well you did say this is a halo 3 map or off halo 3 sp that did not get done

looks like I better give it a go if it's harder ..o yeah

Ok, will do the zipping in the future, also, Ive just gone ahead and finished the shader models, so now the fog works properly, for the most part anyway, funnily enough its actually some of the Bungie models that don't render fog properly now.

Anyway, if you want to see the changes for yourselves, here is the latest update:

Also, Ive just added some more sentinels and some sentinel marauders (those flying gun turrets off halo 3 (see forgotten exile demo)) to the second BSP to fill in some of those gaps where there are no enemies. not going to release this as an update yet but stay tuned!

Hey, this is just a quick call out to anyone who wants to help with this map, Ive got the Gmax file for the final BSP and the WRL for the BSP in this link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5dpnl-i3riAaXRTdWwwRXd5OGM/view?usp=sharing If you want this map to be finished any time soon I would greatly appreciate someone to fix all the co-current triangle errors on the map (that's the same as a concurrent surface error, its mainly glass overlay that's causing it, just delete the doubled over surface and fix any holes that still exist) I would do it myself but quite frankly im terrible at doing this sort of stuff and each time I make a fix it takes 9 hours to recompile the map to check if its fixed or not, there are 63 errors total. any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks you guys, but I already have 3ds max, I just don't really use it. (i have a student license) anyway, I'm pleased to announce the release of my fourth out of 5 bsp. (this is NOT the guardian map bsp) this bsp is probably the tallest bsp I've made in this map, it centers around a stratos sentinel holding bay there will be a large covenant / forerunner battle raging on through this BSP. there is also the stratos sentinel model from the Lumoria campaign in the center of the map (its the real version of the hologram in my first bsp.) funnily enough I actually dream-pt this one up one night and it looked so cool in my dream I had to make it.

I will post an update on the map when I feel I've got this BSP to the sufficient level, maybe sometime next week.
(as in, not finished but good enough to look around and shoot some people.) so far Ive finished all the primary scenery decoration but I haven't added any hostiles or hostile style (covenant) scenery.

so, watch this space.

also, Mootjuh, there are some serious problems with that BSP you gave me, does it needed to be exported from 3DS max because it sure as hell won't work from Gmax. Ive got a ton of pink T-junction errors as well as some orange surface errors and that's when im using a hacked tool that ignores the 67 red edge errors that are present, even when I run it with OS_tool.

hey mootjuh thanks for the BSP, ive finally got it to work, now ive got a question however, is there any way to relocate a BSP to a different coordinates, because currently its at the same coords as my first bsp. if not then Im going to have to script out every single item in the first bsp.

Its not that simple, I don't have the origonal .3ds file, and I don't want to export the bsp as an obj because then I would have to go through texturing hell to get it to work again, I do have the JMS file. anyway. while im working on the guardian forest map, here is a port of the halo 3 map guardian that I will be using for the final bsp for guardian forest, its missing a texture and the gravity lifts don't work, but its still fully playable. (the rest of the textures are still there) anyway, ive figured out a way around moving the bsp, I simply need to script it so that all the scenery items and devices in the first bsp load out so that they are not there when the 5th bsp loads.

the jms file you sent me had no such errors.

here is the latest build as promised. It is by no means complete. I have only placed the non-hostile scenery objects in the last BSP and some of the hostile objects in the 4th BSP. there are saves at the end of each level of the fourth BSP but they can only be obtained once all enemy forces in that area have been beaten. the guardian sentinel model is only a scenery object for now. I am going to make it into a biped, but for now, you must deal.

If anyone knows of a really good theme for the final boss fight that is better than the one that I am using currently and is from Halo 2 or later, please link me the you tube video for it.

the fourth BSP is about 1/4 complete, I have finished placing all the items for both hostile forces and scenery on the top ring, there is not a huge amount and it is possible to get through it without killing most of the people on the top ring, however, this is where it gets interesting, if you don't kill everyone in the top ring then you won't get a save until the end of the bsp, so its sort of a choice, either you go the hard way, kill everyone and get the save, or you don't and as a result suffer later on.

obviously this BSP, and in fact all the BSP's are not yet finalized so if you run into any problems don't hesitate to contact me on this forum. Indecently the next update after this one will feature saving even if you don't kill everyone on the previous ring in the fourth BSP. (It's just too hard in some parts otherwise.) Also, If you encounter some weird behavior by flying creatures such as the Enforcers or Drones there is nothing I can do to fix that sorry.

could you be more specific. where did it happen? I haven't tried this map with OS, so that might be what it is. If its right at the beginning of the map where you first spawn then Ive never had a problem with that.

Also, does anyone know a good character creation tutorial for a monitor style character that has no moving parts?

I'm really struggling right now in regards to that, especially with placing markers, could someone please explain to me in intricate detail (including if you need to texture the markers) where to place them, what to call them (as in body, head, ect) how to link them to the model and things like that. thanks.

oh yes, and before I forget. does anyone have a good loop-able sound track for the final boss fight that is on you tube or something so that I can download it and use it?
(preferably off halo 2/3/4/ODST/Reach/Wars)
