Hey all, Its been a while since I last posted anything on the Guardian Forest map Ive been putting together.
I have been having an extended break from Halo CE and have only recently came back. naturally, (along side various other small mapping projects I spontaneously started) the first thing I did was pick up where I left off with the map. The map has been upgraded a lot since the last alpha release some of you tried out. Its now got a working fog system, the AI are much smarter, the second BSP has been added (there will be more BSP's) most of the nasty fall/jumps have been taken out/ modified and a large amount of minor things have been fixed. all in all, its a great improvement from the last version.

yes i got it, if you check the previous forum there's a reply for you. Oh yes, forgot to mention, I haven't finished placing all the AI on the second BSP yet, so there is only about a third of the total that will be in the BSP. I have fixed all of the crits you gave me. the first BSP doesn't have a huge amount of free roaming and path choice, but the second has plenty.

the addition of fog really has given it that spooky guardian MP feel. but I don't have the background sounds from it, currently im using the swamp noises bk sound and the bird bk sound, its pretty good, but if anyone could give me the bk sound files for guardian MP it would improve it heaps.

I have deliberately left way points out of the first BSP, the second has one out of necessity, but I want this map to have the feeling of you don't know where you are, You need to get to grips with the surrounding area, so you will need to carefully assess your surroundings before making a move, there is always an easy way round (to maneuver that is) you just have to find it. (although its pretty straight forward which way you need to go.)

looks good, the fog isn't so great though. But that is probably down to the engine.

Hey that's great and all, but could you give me a link for the BSP/map, I cant do much without it. (mootjuh)

the fog is almost exactly the same as the fog in H3 guardian. im trying to make this as accurate as I can, and to be fair, it works.

Darkzealotx, all you seem to have done on the forums these last few days is insult people. If you don't have anything constructive to say, put a sock in it.

lol, well, progress is continuing, Ive now got the guardian mp map, however, I am having extream difficulty compiling it because of this:

Also, Ive finished the third BSP, I will upload it sometime this week.

If anyone has a copy an error-less guardian BSP or knows how to fix these errors please tell me.

what do you mean by optimizing exactly, do I use the Gmax optimize function, or do I remove and remake parts of the BSP, and darkzealotx, shut your trap or I will find a way to make your life on this website a living hell!

ok, so i've found mesh optimizer, what is the best setting for me to do do you think.

as in face thresh, edge thresh ect?

What... Why? It can't possibly take that long to compile the BSP. Lightmaps, maybe, but compiling? Do you have a 56MHz processor and 128MB RAM or something?

well, a bit too late for that, though the simplified model doesn't look that bad.

I did make sure that I saved a bk up before I simplified it though.


there are two types of people in this world, those who make back ups and those who wish they had!

update of the map is now available here:

bug fixes including a slight tone down of the gold sentinels have now been included.

there are now a few more enemy's in the first BSP.

third BSP has been added.

PS splinter cell.zip has nothing to do with the current map, its just a campaign I finished a while back, not very good. (its a bit boring) I was sharing it with a friend over one drive, but If you want to try it out feel free.

Enough picking on Johnlex. He makes maps because he has fun doing it, if you don't like his maps you don't need to make him miserable because of it.
