I would start by checking if you removed the references to unused weapons and other content.

I will see if I can cut it down then.

I have attempted to cut down some of the items but I still cannot remove that much, however I was able to remove enough items to replace the covenant carbine with the H3 version, so that is a small victory.

however, It would appear that further cuts are impossible. you will just have to deal with mostly H1 weapons for now sorry.

I've just found out that some of the Zteam weapons such as the H3 assault rifle cause the same problems as the engineer and pilot when put in the game. this means that putting h3 weapons in just really isn't an option, sorry.

quick update. I may not have been able to import the halo 3 weapons, but I have upgraded the HUD on the Carbine, SMG and battle rifle so that they are the h3 versions.

I was using Z-Team h3 weapons, the problem is that with the guardian BSP and the sheer scale of BSP 2 along with over 1 500 different object tags (im talking about types here, not individual placements) imported I am reaching maximum supported polygon count for objects, the more complex models crash the game.

Also, VKNG was unable to finish rigging the final boss biped for me. Is there anyone else that is willing to give it a shot?

here is a link to the zteam tag pack http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?fid=6654 and take a look at the guns huds someone put the h3 visor bit map in the gun hud so there a lot bigger if you don't take out the h3 visor form the gun hud. and put it in the biped hud so you can keep it

I told you, I already have the zteam weapon pack. that is not the issue, The game it's self simply will not allow the weapons to be added and actually crashes if I do so. I have genuinely tried, with the Zteam weapon packs but on this particular map, they just do not work. I have however replaced the huds on some of the weapons with the ones from the pack and tested to make sure they work on the map.

I think there is a odst hud in there two just so you no. well you could make a os map as well as a normal map
.and you could have the halo 3 guns in the os one.

yes, I have already tried the ODST hud, but it seriously screws the game up because I built it from square 1 for the H3 hud. I could have ODST guns in the OS one, but there is a guy I know that is planning or redoing my map after I release it with better everything and OS, so I will leave it to him to make that.

In the world of game weapon assets it's usually firing fx and textures which are the most intensive on any game engine.

I suggest.

You open each and every weapon diffuse bitmap texture.

Use fireyscythes bitmap extractor to extract the bitmap, then open it in photoshop or gimp and down res the bitmaps from 2 or 1k down to .5k (512x512)

Recompile the downres'd bitmap make sure it uses the same name as the higher res one then overwrite the high res one with the low res one by placing the newly modified tag into the same directory of the high res tag.


Might work.

no, that's not the problem, the game crashes the moment the final BSP loads. It has nothing to do with firing weapons, It just simply crashes, the polygon count suddenly becomes too high, or at least that is what I am guessing is happening. The game does not crash when I fire the weapon. Anyway, this isn't helping the biggest problem here. I need a rigged biped of the final boss model. (the old one, the new one crashes the game the same way as the h3 weapons.)

here is a list of what causes the game to crash so far:

1: Engineer model. (not just the biped, this is how I know its not the effects, the model itself can be put in as a scenery object and the game still crashes.)

2: Escape pod pilot.

3: H3 Battle rifle, H3 SMG, H3 Covenant Carbine, H3 Magnum, H3 plasma rifle, H3 needler, H3 Plasma pistol. all from the ZTeam pack.

4: The ripped H3 guardian model.

For some reason the ZTeam major sentinel gun does not crash the game, not sure why.

I come bearing fantastic news! I have just got the biped and actor for the boss into the game, after much research I finally found out that I needed to export the model from Gmax with Blue-Streak rather than chimp. It works very well, there is only one problem...

The model is using the monitor animations so it can't fire its weapons and it cannot die, as you can imagine this is quite annoying to say the least. does anyone have a solution they know of?

No, Although I have succeeded in killing it by enabling the omnipotent cheat.


Update:

the boss is now kill-able and can shoot.

BIG UPDATE!!!

This version is the final beta, it features the final boss, several minor bug fixes, a fix so that your facing the right direction at the beginning of BSP 3 and some other small features.

unless something happens this will probably be the final version of this map.

Enjoy.

It's pretty hard, one word of warning though, the guardian sentinel boss guy no clips sometimes, I can't seem to stop it happening, also, hes very, very fast at turning and as a result, extremely hard to hit. He's also armed with a very powerful sentinel laser (the same as the gold sentinels, but no drop) and 3 times the health of a enforcer.

Well I myself have played through the whole thing (aside from all the times I've played through it incomplete, which is quite a lot.) 4 times now, once on easy, twice on normal and once on legendary (ouch, just ouch...) and I can truthfully say that there isn't really anything wrong with it, so unless someone has something to say that doesn't involve new HUD's or Weapons (or weapon HUDs) then I'm going to upload it. I'll leave this up till this time next week. I would say that I'm eager to hear your responses, but in this case I'm probably not.

I'm actually stuck on the part where you're teleported, then you platform down onto the giant ring thing that's above the whatever-machine-ai-sentinel-thing. I'll clear the area out and have no idea where to go.

you didn't think to perhaps look at the arrows on the floor that point to where you need to go next?

If you follow them you will find one last arrow that points off to the side of the ring. If you follow that one then you will find a stair case, repeat this until you are onto the next BSP.

for a start im going to give you new textures ones that would fit the map well that is up to you if you use them.
but it is better then using the old h1 textures . and killing the boss is not even hard
it seems he is mad for a boss . 2nd you need to put more guns in there it's feel like theres not much to get . that's all for now in 2 days or one day well see

everything but the textures I can do. I no longer have the 3d models for the first 3 BSP's so I cannot modify what is there already (as much as I wish I could) I will try to put more guns in, but where do I add them, any ideas? (I cannot just leave them lying around the map pointlessly, nor can I add any UNSC weapons other than what you start with because no UNSC forces save yourself are in / have been in the area.) as for the boss. any Ideas on how do I make him harder, do I just give him more health, make his weapon more powerful or something?

OK, Ive left the guardian's health pretty much the same (It's just right how it is so that your able to destroy him on legendary without running out of ammo, I added another 150 but that's it (about the same health as a sentinel major has))but I have tweaked his weapon so that is does more damage, causes a flaming death and blows up grenades if it contacts them. that should make it more difficult. I have also included some weapons in an open supply canister where the crashed spirit drop ship is.

yes but you can put new textures in even tho you have it in game . next is some guns seem to have two visor I did say something about this before but o well ill put it up in 2 days as to how to take it down two one visor. and im going two be looking at a odst hud this would work
for your map like gold. more soon. and before I forget im a games master so it may not be hard for me it will be hard for some to kill the boss you well see in the next video

so, I've changed the textures to the same bark as is in the final BSP, that looks very nice. I've also changed the floor BSP to a scrolling fog texture that moves, that looks very nice indeed. a huge improvement.


I've also finally fixed the no texture problem in the final BSP. that's looks absolutely fantastic now that It's textured.


Also, that Guardian now strips shields off like a boss. (lulz, see you see what I did there)

umm, about the double HUD or whatever your referring too... what have you actually changed?


Also, I already ripped all the textures out of the Halo 3 guardian mp level a while back, and so I have already replaced the bark texture with the one in the final BSP. here are some pics:
