haha... so does your avatar! jk.....
(dont hit me im being random)

seriously though the idea is based off of a mod called bastila's revelation robes..http://knightsoftheoldrepublic.filefront.com/file/Bastilas_Revelation_Robes;66244
which was the idea to forget the near skin color tight mesh and make her stand out a bit more..... i will say i have quite a thing for bastila, as a character... the story has stuck with me throught my life as a star wars fan..... i played this game as a kid and was i guess..... inspired by it.... thus the reason for it. this is supposed to be a post kotor mod with revan and bastila...... before the time travel....

note revan was a sith lord.....

also note that she is NOT of that scantaly type.... just has a bit of a flair to her personality as a sith.... imo

There's no real reason to have a rail in front of the ammo counter because you wouldn't attach anything that close to your face.

sure there is... if you were to add a 45 degree adapter and such you could put on a lazer sight or other various things... do we absolutely NEED the ammo counter all times every day? might give yourself away on stealth missions (as a marine without active camo) also we could make an ironsights dmr.... theres a spot for ironsights and there is a notch at the end to the gun.... weapons today are extremely modifiable..... think about the variants....
you would have to be a noob to not know when youre out of ammo. XD you got a hud and you got the click of the empty mag and so i doubt you need 3 indicators if you were actually worth your weight as a marine.i get that this has an ammo counter reguardless but i might be making a less futuristic dmr variant.

None of those things would need to be that close to your face, especially considering all the rail length you have at the front of the gun. The ammo counter seems to be integral to the weapon, and doesn't look like it could be removed. You can put the rear iron sight where the scope currently sits, you could mount a laser module on the front, but anything that far back, where you've added the extra rail, would either just get in the way or obstruct the charging handle, meaning you would no long be able to fire your weapon.

Echi is correct, a inset rail such as that would be rendered completely useless.

In fact the only conceivable option would be to mount a very fine cheek rest, which still wouldn't make sense since you have mounting portions just clear of the butt.

great! thanks for the boost in support for my idea. :/ also thanks for supporting the idea in that: im being creative. and also the idea: that we have no idea what weapons could be using 500 years in the future. please.... remember that people put time twoards their work. also thanks for being open minded to the fact that we put rails on practically every gun nowadays.... is it *sensored* blanking useful to put a rail on a revolver? no! do people do it anyways? yes! fact: there are some very useless ideas that go into the weapons of today. who cares. this is 500 years in the future. what should we expect? this is HALO CUSTOM EDITION.... make it your way. thats all im going to say about the rail. but i got more to be posting soon.

Working hard on something doesn't mean your creations are above criticism. You're free to do whatever you want to do, but "we have no idea what weapons could be using 500 years from now" doesn't really justify something as simple to figure out as rail placement.

The DMR already had rails on it, in an ideal, sensible location. Adding more rails doesn't make it better. If you're trying to be creative, there are countless, more original things you could do to the weapon. For example: a belt-fed, conventional (non-bullpup) configuration variant. A countersniper model optimized for range and accuracy, sporting things like an extended barrel, improved optics, and a bipod. You could mount a grenade launcher to it. You could turn it into a full-auto carbine, or you could put a BR55-esque carry handle on it. If you truly want to be creative, try putting a bit more thought into it than "I'll just throw another rail segment on there wherever."

It can be useful to put a rail on a revolver if you mount it on top for optics, or on the bottom for something like a flashlight. If you were to mount the rail on, say, the side of the cylinder, however, it wouldn't do you any good, 500 years in the future or not. There are very few "useless ideas" that go into modern military small arms, because if they were silly and pointless, they'd probably have been omitted in favor of cutting costs.

Again, you're free to do whatever you want with your own model; I can't stop you, I don't want to stop you, I'm not trying to stop you, but there's no sense in trying to use logic to justify illogical things.

You have to learn to understand that sometimes people just don't care, Echo. It's cool and all that you have the knowledge, but exercising it in a manner that imposes on others (conscientiously or otherwise) isn't something that anyone really welcomes from my experience unless they're in the same OCD corner.

If I were to give a suggestion, try to be less dogmatic in your criticism.

They don't have to care, but this is a public forum on the internet. Everything is open to criticism, and everyone either voices their personal opinion or makes suggestions based on what they know. But I don't know much about shaders, bitmaps, 3D modeling, scripting, lightmaps, sound design, or AI. The two things I know are Halo canon and small arms. Fortunately, Halo and small arms go hand-in-hand, so whenever I see UNSC-themed weapon, I try to make suggestion as to how it could be improved from a sensible perspective, because that's all I really have to offer. It's no more imposing than any other forms of criticism, and it's an aspect of things that's often overlooked. It's no less valid than any other aesthetic-based criticisms.

If I didn't talk about guns, Halo, or Halo guns, I'd never get criticize anything here. If they don't care about what I have to say, that's fine, they're free to say "Yeah, I guess I can see where you're coming from, but practicality isn't high on my list of priorities," and that'd be that. It turns into a lengthy exchange when they try to turn it into a debate instead of just accepting, ignoring it, or dismissing it outright.

You blame any conflict of interests on the other, yet to criticize is always going to beget a defense on the part of the maker. In almost every case I've seen you seem to interpret this as an invitation to unceasingly press your point as fact until you become ignored or reproofed enough to let the 'debate' fade; I can't recall an instance from recent memory where your thoughts were accepted outright.

Not entirely sure to what end I'm saying this, but that's just what I've seen/thought.

And a defense on the part of the maker is going to beget a defense on my own behalf. Many of my points are based on fact and can be reinforced with examples and evidence and realworld counterparts, which is why I view them as, at the very least, equally valid to the opinions and personal preferences that are so often touted as fact by the other patrons of the forum.

I'm perfectly aware that not everyone cares (but whether or not they care about criticism doesn't necessarily invalidate the criticism, much like I can't brush off any and all logic behind your argument simply by saying "lol ye well i dont care lol"), but there are enough people who've accepted and implemented suggestions I've made, both on and off the forum, that I feel comfortable with continuing to make them for the sake of the few who might have done something a certain way simply because they didn't know any better.
