Yeah, it's confirmed that OS will need to be updated by Kornman to be compatible with the new version. He wasn't expecting Halo to be updated when he planned his dev cycle and he will have to "gracefully cut" some of the features he was planning in order to get an update out the door for users running 1.10. It is unsure if it will be ready before the auto-update.

Btcc22 and Sehe, on the other hand, have confirmed that they are planning to push an update to their mods (HAC2 and SAPP, respectively) before the big 1.10 auto-update.

I hope that it is soon because leaves a message asking me the patch 1.09

and I do think that OS is a program more serious since it forces to have this version of the game (1.09)

Sapp still works on the CE3 server even on 1.10.

Skip, mapvote, events are all still working

Is the server patched to 1.10? Or the client? Or both?

I'm awaiting confirmation on whether a client using 1.09 + HAC2 can join a server running 1.10 + SAPP.

If I understand correctly, running 1.10 + OS will still function, but OS features will be disabled and that message will be displayed.

What kinda stinks to me is that they had this in the works for a while but refused to collaborate with one of the third party projects that add tons of useful things to the game. Maybe it's cuz they felt pressed for time and/or didn't feel like doublechecking each one's respective code and long-term stability, but still. Sucks that this opportunity couldn't have been capitalized on to bring either or even both to a bigger audience by packaging it in an official update.

Quote: The patches have been announced on bungie.net and are available for manual download.
Now is the time to encourage everyone who hosts dedicated servers to migrate to the new version, so that we have many of them online when the auto-update goes live

I'm kinda concerned about Open Sauce and Halo CE v1.0.10/v1.10.
Will Open Sauce support Halo CE v1.0.10/v1.10 in the future?

Umm... you realise Btcc and Kornmann were working on the patch, right? They knew about it from the start, as they're the ones that convinced Roger to do it in the first place.

They just had to get it out before the Gamespy master server goes down, so they haven't quite had time to patch OS and HAC. It's not their fault, it's kinda Gamespy's fault for giving them a deadline.(though don't go screaming at Gamespy, because they kinda had no choice either)

May 31st can't come soon enough. When it comes, hopefully a whole load of pirates won't bother updating, so it might be easier to find actually decent players that don't act like dumb *insert derogatory title here*.

A lot of the inactive servers'll probably go away as well, so there won't be an epically long list of empty servers.(or, ideally, due to all the media cover this is getting, they might... uh, stop being inactive)

Of course, the whole stock maps thing seems to be sticking around. For some reason, most of the newly updated 1.10 servers still use stock maps. You'd think that if they have the patience and knowledge to update their servers, they might also try to use more modded maps.

(Oh, in case you didn't know, HAC forces you to see 1.00 servers from the Gamespy lobby list, hence why I have to wait for May 31st to get rid of all the old servers -.-)

The Halo CE and PC 1.0.10 (aka 1.10) patches are also available through my torrent mirror now. They're small though so downloading from the official sources shouldn't be a problem unless they go offline.

They're there if you want 'em though!

Apparently Bungie refused to let them add anything feature-wise. They had to stick to fixes only. Any content additions are forbidden for an official patch. (probably because MS doesn't want Halo PC rivalling Anniversary)

That or maybe there is some legal technicalities that doesn't allow further development based on that they no longer "own" the franchise. So anything that would add a feature would be considered too grand an alteration to another parties property? just throwin' ideas out there.

Plus, it's in Bungie's better interests to keep community-made mods the "property" of the community rather than themselves... otherwise, you can't update them (and therefore, have an incentive to keep the community alive).

Okay, I think I screwed something up. I've checked the HAC2 Troubleshooting page, and I've tried every suggestion, but I still get these two pop-ups every time I start Halo CE.

Is anyone else having this problem?

Hey, isn't it funny that the game doesn't recognize the commands "chat" and "optic" as an invalid function?...

Do you have any other mods? e.g. enbseries, optic, sweetfx, etc.

Check if you have a file called 'd3d9' in your Halo install folder. If you do, you have a mod, and it probably doesn't support the new patch yet.

I solved my problem. I just typed the file name into google, and I got this link http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-gaming/system-error-the-program-cant-start-because/261e2bb5-2e75-e011-8dfc-68b599b31bf5 .

Then, I just downloaded the Web Installer and now Halo CE works normally.

Is it just me or Optic stopped working after the new HAC 2 update? Also, my max resolution disapeared from the settings :( (not using 1.10)

A lot of people have both PCs and Xboxs. If Halo PC has new features, especially graphical additions, that make Anniversary seem pointless, they'll lose customers that would have otherwise bought Anniversary for Xbox. (a lot of people probably would have also considered buying Xboxs just for Anniversary and it's mp if CE hadn't been so well supported)

Or, if they ever released Anniversary on PC, they'd hit the same issue, unless they decide to release HEK for it and give it the same level of support as this Halo.
