What I meant to ask was, does 3.0.3 eliminate the CD key check?

A pirated CD key is no different than a regular one. As long as the game is installed correctly, OS should install. I could be wrong though, but I have yet to be proven by someone otherwise.

OS installer just looks for the registry. As long as you have correctly installed the game, regardless of what the key is, and have updated to 1.09, it will install (Although in the 3.1.0, it checks if you have modified files in your HCE folder, like strings.dll, and im actually thinking this will be the biggest problem people are gonna have when it comes out lol)

Chances are, his problems are completely irrelevant to the key, but that hes using a hacked copy for USB, that doesn't use the registry. So, since he doesn't have the registry, the OS installer can't find his halo install (since it isnt installed).

Then... I'm sorry, but I gotta prove you wrong, then.

I installed my CE game correctly (at least, I think I did...), but the OS installer still gives me an error.
Is there a way to check my directory, manually? (or... how else should I fix this?)

Yeah, now that I remember, my friend "installed" Halo PC from a USB drive onto this computer.
(I would've gotten a legitimate install if I got the game myself, but sadly, I got the illegal version as a present, so there's not much I can do about it...)
That would make a lot of sense...

Yeah download the installer off this website for HCE.

I installed HCE from this website... just not Halo PC (regular) (though... does the installation for that game affect Custom Edition, too?)

My Computer has 4GB RAM, 512 MB Video Card, and an Intel i3. It runs SPV3 absolutely beautiful. My old computer had these specs, and how much? At the most $400.

Theoretically, your Halo PC installation does not affect CE, but they use the same CD key. You can even uninstall Halo PC without a problem (I did).

If people got the word around about OS and HAC, a lot more people would be playing custom maps. :/

OpenSauce/HAC, custom maps and Halomaps/Halomods/Modacity/CE3 (essentially our community existing).
Those are what we have to make sure that more people playing Custom Edition know about before it's too late.


-Besides, it seems like less people are running into HAC problems than OS, so that might be a good sign for custom map distributions? :D

Sorry for the lack of updates, I've been away/working/sick. Yesterday I made some progress, Finished the implementation of that one sweet new feature I've been talking about. It works, perfectly as expected. I'll be able to announce that soon.

I'm having yet another beta testing tonight, hopefully the last of script bugs are gone in this one. If that is the case, I have only to add weapons and the map is Final.

Ah, the RPG_Beta series of maps, many fond memories of my Halo CE experience lie within them.
It'll be interesting to see the completed product of this map, it seems like it's going to be one of the funnest maps to have ever been about on this website. It'll also be interesting to see what the community can come up with in terms of roleplaying on this map, aside from your given story in the OP. I might have to return to it if the community still has the sort of creativity it had a few years ago.
I await it's release with anticipation, if only so I can shoot things with big guns from large vehicles just because I'd be able too.

Half Jaw, the community seems to have less creativity than a few years ago. It's ridiculous I know.

We've made some good progress yesterday. So much that tonight I will officially announce the new feature. I have one last script element to fix and then, the map will only need final weapon placement before entering Final Beta testing

Also, as for the announcement I've been delaying for some time, here's one of the new features included in RPG_Beta7.

It's one of the worse kept secret around that the map will feature a BIPED SELECTION feature allowing you to play either as a SPARTAN or one of 5 different ODST characters. This is made possible by R93_Sniper's providing of biped samples to play in and tune the options in.

Every time you spawn, you will have the opportunity to go and pick your biped. Once you die, it resets. Everything is tested and syncing. This is intended as a proof of concept which I hope others will use to improve on and bring many new things that the RP community has been waiting to use for years. I will also reveal at a later date the details behind this, what allows it to work.

You could take bloodgulch.map and rename it to rpg_beta7.

The server you saw was probably Opsy testing the map.

The Shock Response Team / RPG_Beta official server, yes. He had a group testing tonight.
