Quote: --- Original message by: Nickster5000 Does single player crash? Describe how it freezes in more detail please? No problems with single player. When it freezes, it just straight-up freezes. The screen stops on whatever frame is currently being displayed. It also loops whatever sounds are being created at that time. Then the match quits out and it says I lost network connection.
Specs: Intel i5 5200U hyper-threaded dual core CPU @ 2.2 GHz Intel HD 5500 graphics, running on a secondary 1680x1050 display 8 GB DDR3-800 500 GB Samsung 850 evo SSD Windows 8.1 Internet speed: http://u.cubeupload.com/ReconNinjaEle7en/Interwebs.png
I know these specs are mediocre, but this game can run on much worse hardware just fine (it came out almost 12 years ago). I am using ethernet when at my desk, but even when I'm not my internet connection and speed is pretty stable. I get the same match disconnects whether wireless or wired. I was able to play the game perfectly on my previous machine, again regardless of wired or wireless connection. I did a full drive clone both when switching computers and when moving over to the SSD I installed yesterday, so I am running HAC 2 on CE 1.0.10 just as I was before. I will try ensuring my graphics drivers are up to date and see if that does anything. Edit: updating display drivers did not fix the issue. Edited by ReconNinja117 on May 13, 2015 at 12:51 AM
I switched computers a couple of weeks ago, and this is the only significant change that happened recently as far as I know. Now, in most CE multiplayer the game freezes after 10-30 seconds, and sometimes it unfreezes after a while and says I lost connection. My internet is fine (consistent pings, 15 Mb/s download, not in the middle of nowhere), CE is allowed through Windows firewall, I can graphically run the game okay, so if anyone has any idea what could be going on/has troubleshooting suggestions, it would be helpful.
Maybe this map wouldn't be so bad if the team didn't spend all their time on fish AI. Joking aside, did anyone else see this?
I don't know if it's possible or not, but I'd love it if a future version of OS could remove the mouse acceleration inherent to the game. I've tried every fix I could find (even a registry edit to flatten out the acceleration curve within Windows itself), nothing works. I'd also like it if the in-game OS settings sliders moved smoothly instead of in large notches, like it was before the latest update. I like the UI, but especially for the weapon position options the notches can make it hard to get exactly what you want. Edited by ReconNinja117 on Mar 4, 2015 at 11:09 AM

I always really liked that loading screen. Simple, yet elegant.
I wouldn't expect to see them until about this date

Difference between 30fps and 60?
Is it smoother or something? http://30vs60.com/
They'll probably have at least one prebuilt map per canvas, like they did in Halo 4. As a side note, I hope one of the canvases in H2A forge has Covenant structure pieces.
Do you know what would be even better than this? What would be even better than just a PC release of this game? Halo: MCCCE (Master Chief Collection Custom Edition). It would include fully unlocked mod tools for all 4 games (I guess 6 if you want to count HA10 and H2A separately) and compatibility with existing H1 CE content.
 ^Me if they did it
Disclaimer: Resolution should not discourage you from buying a game. Super Mario Bros is the 4th best-selling game of all time at a gorgeous 256x240. I just find this matter interesting to discuss.
From a visual fidelity standpoint, I don't understand why they're keeping the vertical pixel count full but reducing it horizontally, instead of just scaling down a little in both dimensions. 1328x1080 is only smaller than 1600x900 by 5760 pixels, so they could have the game render at either resolution with virtually identical performance. I'll bet that stretching the image sideways will make things look a bit weird due to the substantial blurring (1328 is about 69% of 1920) that will occur only from side to side. I would prefer that they set the resolution to 1600x900, so the game render and the output screen would have the same aspect ratio, and therefore the slight blurring would be very even throughout and the resultant image would be pretty hard to distinguish from full 1080p without looking at a freeze frame comparison.
I do think I know the real reason why they went with that weird, pseudo-1080 resolution: it's because 900p on Xbox One has been pretty badly stigmatized, and going with any resolution that ends in 1080 will let them call the game 1080p without technically lying, since that number alone doesn't say anything about the picture's other dimension.

This probably is old news for some of you, but I haven't seen a thread about this on here so I thought I'd post it for those who haven't seen it yet. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qPbKjso22o Do you think this is legitimate? He doesn't actually present anything beyond an eyewitness testimony, but this guy has a pretty reputable position as far as video game news goes.
You can always install CE to a second directory and keep that one at v1.09 so you can play OS maps with that one and v1.10 multiplayer with the other.
Apparently elites genetically modified themselves to have fingernails since 2012. Edited by ReconNinja117 on Aug 14, 2014 at 11:07 PM
Those elites look brand new, and I think they're pretty good-looking. I wonder, are the models they ripped from past games just placeholders? Back at the H2A campaign reveal ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=CJ3HcCyLeGE#t=748 ) they didn't really specify. Hopefully they'll make a whole bunch more models from scratch, I really prefer the visual style of the fresh content 343 has made for this game so far rather than rips. I just remembered the bit of Masterz's CE3 2013 interview where he said that first person animations for the armor abilities might not be possible (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7N7oOvsA8Q#t=77). I happened to stumble along an old video which showed it in action via OS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1QZJ5KQpxbU If this hasn't already been addressed and the armor abilities that would benefit from FP animations haven't already been removed, then it should be of use to ask Choking Victim about it (assuming he's anywhere to be found; he hasn't been here in almost a year).
