Yeah, looks like some sort of system issue regarding preloading of plugins for the game. This should only affect users of unusual or subpar systems. Like the guy in that video looked like his system was really sluggish, which may be part of the problem.

hmm, i didn't want to mention this but i have a problem with the quarantine thing, i use it and everything is fine, but there are times when the letterbox stays, and HUD never comes back, i remove the letterbox and put the HUD manually but i'm still unable to use zooming on weapons and i can't see nav points, that's the only issue i'm having, any ideas? o.o Edited by ChBgt909 on Sep 24, 2012 at 01:19 AM

You're supposed to die when the quarantine goes off. The issue is probably caused by you making yourself immune to damage.

If the game is crashing when loading to many resources, you should probably try using the objects_predict command. I never use it, seeing as SP maps seem to load whatever resources they need and pause when thats loaded. Perhaps it was more of an xbox thing than PC, since Xbox's all had a set amount of Ram and vid RAM? At least that was my experience with SPV2. Haven't encountered it with SPV3 though, might be an OS thing. Do you have any reports of non OS users experiencing any pauses while content tries to render on screen during the gravlift scene?

Perhaps the object_predict command would do it, I have no idea. The whole situation is just baffling to me. I've never heard of a map where you had to go play multiplayer for a few minutes to go play a singleplayer map. No one in our testing group (including you) ever ran into this problem, it was tested on both OS and non-OS and it worked fine. I just can't imagine the problem being anything other than a hardware problem. As for the RAM the original Xbox has 64 megabytes of RAM, and the person getting the exception has 4 gigabytes of RAM. Mind you I don't know what systems our testing group has, so perhaps 4 Gigs or RAM isn't enough, as I have 6 gigabytes and it runs fine. As for OS I'm uncertain. For both OS and non-OS there is only a slight 5 frame rate drop during the cutscene for me, which is almost unnoticeable. It's like their systens have to "warm up" or something first. This is just the strangest problem. Thanks for the ideas though, we'l make sure to use the object_predict command for our next map. Also can I ask how much RAM you have? I'm wondering as you were in out test group also. Thanks. Edited by Pepzee on Sep 27, 2012 at 01:19 AM

Say Pepzee, I probably won't be around to help with that map. Life things are taking priority, and I haven't touched (or reinstalled) HEK since I reinstalled Windows. Gaming-related things are gonna be taking a backseat for quite a while.

How much vid ram does it have, not that it probably matters much? The object_predict may have been something the xbox needed but wasn't required or is used on PC/CE. Korn would be able to answer that better than me though.
Are you positive all your music is correctly compiled and tagged?
The slight frame drop probably is a result of whatever it is loading, I'm sure through some trial and error you could figure out exactly what's causing it.
I actually have only 3GB of RAM, but I believe my card has 512. Could be wrong though, I just bought the best card for under 100 at best buy, don't even know the name off the top of my head. It's current gen though.

Yes. The music went through multiple tagging iterations until we got Rerout's compiling format to work without any issues.

The slight frame drop in the initial cutscene is caused by the creation of all the scenery items during that part of the cutscene. It used to lag worse when items were created at the start of the level, so I felt doing it how it was done was the best compromise.

My old computer was a 3gb and 2.5GHz, and ran this map pretty choppy. But it was a crappy 2007 Vista-running Gateway laptop. I finished the level on my 2010 MacBook Pro 4gb and 2.4 GHz, and never had any issues. These days, most people should have at least some general post-2009 hardware, which shouldn't have issues with the amount of stuff packed into this map. Oh that reminded me. Me and MoooseGuy agreed after the map had been out a few months to revel the easter eggs in the map. As we did spend some time on them and we didn't only to have a few people find them and have our work be wasted. This guy did a good job on showing all of them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P1K2mQUpFMoIf you want to find all the easter eggs yourself though that's fine with me, just don't watch the video and keep searching! As for the songs, not all of them are on youtube. We only got a few of them there, others were found throughout the deepest depths of the internet. I'll talk to MoooseGuy about potentially uploading the songs to youtube. Looking back on it now I suppose it would of been better to see if it was possible to include the .mp3 files in the .zip package. Well I guess that's all. All good things come to an end, and I'm sad this project is over, I had a great time making with MoooseGuy for you guys. Hopefully me and MoooseGuy can work on a project for you guys in the future if time will ever permit it again. All I hope is that you guys enjoy playing the map as I did.

Why thank you Mr. Lode. A lot of that elaborateness was actually Pepzee's idea. The music in the map was indeed found in all corners of the Internet, and once I get a good provider again, I'll upload a zip of the wav's for you guys. Remember...
