That crowbar couldn't possible penetrate any part of the chiefs armor, even the parts in between the plates. :P The only vulnerable place really is the visor. And the chief could bend that puny crowbar in half in the first place xP

MC is a one-dimensional badarse character in the games, but actually has a back story beyond them.
Gordon Freeman is the same without the back story followup
Kratos... I have no idea because I have never played god of war xP

My ratings for Halo games
What I will be loooking for: Nicety,(If you don't undertsand nicety, its just soimething looking...nice.)Gameplay, Story, Graphics,
Halo Combat Evolved:
Nicety: 10/10 Gameplay:10/10 Story:10/10 Graphics:8/10
Total Points:38
Conclusion: Grapgics and nicety, as gameplayers should know, are two totally different things. Graphics is the level of detail, the skill, and the looks. Nicety, is just something looking GOOD. Doesn't have to be great graphics, just has to look GOOD.
Halo 2:
Nicety: 8/10 Gameplay: 9.5/10 Story: 9/10 Graphics: 8.7/10
Total Points:35.2
Conclusion: Despite the massive loss of points, this game... I still play it. It was GOOD! A fine example of gamebuilding, it showed the covenant side. It showed the elites honor, and the brutes savagery. I particularly liked the views of High Charity, it really got me ino that feelign where you ARE on a massive space station.
Halo 3(Or, as I sometimes call it, Halo 2 part 2):
Nicety: 9/10 Gameplay:10/10 Story:10/10 Graphics:10/10
Total Points: 39
Conclusion: As you can see, this game was only a hairsbreadth ahead of the original. Hairs, as in, microscopic. Everything was good. However, it wasn't as nice as the original, and I like that in a game. NICETY! Even with the different scores, I think they're the same, just in Halo 3 its a bit more evident.
Halo 3:ODST :
Nicety: 7/10 Gameplay:10/10 Story:10/10 Graphics:10/10
Total Points: 37
Conclusion: This was a hard choice. I wanted to give it more, but it just wans't the same. Sure, gameplay, story, and graphics were great, but it didn't have nicety and that ZING of Halo Combat Evolved and Halo 3. Mainly, I just missed the badass chief. Everyone did. But, this game is another good example of what Halo has to offer. Friggin AWESOME storyline, particularly liking the Vergil parts, since I'm one of them.
Halo Wars:
Nicety: 4/10 Gameplay: 7/10 Story: 6/10 Graphics: 7/10
Total Points: 24
Conclusion: This is perhaps, probably the only Halo game that to me, wouldn't be up at the 30s. Sure, it was different, but it sucked kinda. Graphics were okay, Gameplay.... eh, Story... again, eh. Nicety, however, was horrible. Its a bit of a stretch for me to give it even 4. Really, it wasn't good. One of the rare occasions Bungie messes up. Thankfully, that ain't much, except for the story in the next review.
Halo Reach(Last Bungie-produced Halo in foreseeable future.):
Nicety: 5/10 Gameplay:10/10 Story:6/10 Graphics:10/10
Total Points:31
Conclusion: As you can see, I wasn't a major fan of Reach. Gameplay and Graphics are awesome, but... it took a major plunge in Nicety and Story. Nicety, first, the Reach AR looked yucky. So did pretty much every other human weapon, although the Covenant weapons were pretty nice, and so were their vehicles.Story... argh, I hate it. It contains several base inconsistencies that for anyone who had read all the books would have known. 1:Spartan IIIs are supposed to remain secret, and I dunno how they can when they interact with a regular colonel(or Generral, I dunno). The fact that the Pillar of Autumn came down to the surface was a complete, LIE! It never had that time! Cortana was on it all along! Argh, I hate that bit! Plus, discovery of forerunner ruins. How did Halsey know about them? Why was she there? Worse, she never knew about Spartan IIIs. I think having an entire team of them drop on your front doorstept, and saying "HEY THERE PALLIE, YOU NEED A RIDE OUT OF HERE? BY THE WAY, WE ARE ALSO HERE TO PICK UP YOUR AI, WHO IS SUPPOSED TO BE ON THE AUTUMN, BUT SUDDENLY AND INEXPLICABLY HAD A CLONE CREATED OF HERSELF, AND IS NOW DOWN HERE? WOW, SO MANY INCONSISTENIES, ITS A WONDER BUNGIE MADE THIS STORY SO BAD!" Basically what I say at the Halo fanclub meeting at school.
All in All, the entire Halo Franchise gets 204 points, out of a possible 240. Not bad.

1. Yeah, SPARTAN-IIIs were created on Onyx, dunno what Bungie did there... 2. Wasn't the Pillar of Autumn always on Reach?? I recall in Halo 2 they say that it made a (hasty) escape off into slipspace, heading into the events of Halo 1. 3. Forerunner structures have always been on Reach, the game might show just the exterior of the structure, although in the novel (probably after what you see in-game) Halsey and Red Team (Fred, Kelly etc.) jump down this 500m elevator shaft and they find some crystalline shard that warps gravity and gives people high amounts of radiation, even through radiation shielding . Oh yeah, forgot to say, the Reach AR looks yucky because its meant to look like a stripped down version of a normal AR, so it has a skeletal appearance to it. After Reach fell, Cortana supposedly took a random Slipspace jump in order to get away from the Covenant, as per the Cole Protocol, and ended up at Halo. Read Halo: The Fall of Reach for the full backstory. 3) Yes. Although they end up destroying it later on in Halo: First Strike. Well, a Marine blows it up, but whatever :P I never really liked Reach's story. Bungie really let me (and anyone else who had read the books beforehand) down. The gameplay was also too childish. What, Spartans need equipment to allow them to run and evade? I didn't realize that I needed something for me to run and dodge crap thrown at me...

I understand that Bungie has the right to change their storyline, but if you had read the Halo books before Reach came out, you'd understand my frustration.
As for Halo 3, it was equipment designed to work for you and the enemy. Brutes deploying Bubble Shields, Power Drainers, Trip Mines, etc. In Reach, you have Sprint and Evade which are natural human skills. You don't need a powerup to enable you to do so! Halo 1 and Halo 2 are completely different games with totally different kinds of gameplay. It's nearly impossible to compare the two. Halo's a more classic shooter built around splitscreen play whereas Halo 2 was one of the first instances where faster, arcadey gameplay was incorporated with online multiplayer (on a console, that is) and achieved a considerable playerbase. Two completely different things.
Halo 3 and the games that followed are post-ruining, however,(they didn't really incorporate changes as drastic as those Halo 2 implemented) so they don't really count!!

Edited by UBE Chief on Sep 12, 2011 at 03:02 PM I did read the fall of reach, infact I read all of the main story line halo books before Reach came out, yet I still consider the games to be the main source of truth as far as the story is concerned. Also, you will notice that beyond a few obvious changes, the two story lines of the book and the game do not contradict each other for the most part. The vast majority of the two do not interfere with each other, so who is to say that the two didn't happen simultaneously,(with a few obvious exceptions). As far as gameplay is concerned, most people where quite happy when the sprinting ability was added in to the game, mostly because it was frustrating as hell in the first 3 to be stuck at the same damned running speed all the time. The abilities where balanced for the sake of gameplay not necessarily for realism. Oh, and by the way, ever single armor ability except sprint is used by the covenant as well as by the humans.

Yes, I know that the Elites have all of the abilities except sprint, you know what I meant. Still, it's not exactly realistic (and yes, I know that Halo is fictional) when you need a piece of equipment to enable you to run and/or evade. Personally, I think those two should always be available to the player, and have the other four as the actual equipment.
I'd also like to see the statistic where most people were happy with the add-ons of Armour Abilities.
As for the books, it was arrogant of Bungie/343i and/or Microsoft to dismiss the books to forward Reach. If we could've had a game where we'd be a part of Red Team (according to Halo: The Fall of Reach), then I'd have been far more hooked. Instead, they gave us six characters with practically no backstory and more gimmicks than a clown party. I disliked it.
There was one thing I did like in Reach, and that was Forge World. If only they could have advanced settings for "making" a map...

News flash, they haven't been available before Reach, and you also overlooked that I specifically mentioned Sprint as the armor ability that people really wanted. I didn't mention any of the others. Of course its not realistic, that is to be expected, and if you expect it to be realistic then you are just being ridiculous. It was not arrogant of them to change the story, IT IS BUNGIE'S STORY, THEY DID NOT WRITE THE BOOKS. Therefore they have absolute control over the content of the story, and what they create comes first, period.

That was my point in the first place xP 2. You were expecting realism if you wanted them to be able to sprint to begin with. 3. They didn't dismiss it, they made a story that contradicted that of the book to a very minor degree, the rest of the story is left untouched and could have happened simultaneously with that of Halo: Reach.

@Guys debating armor abilities:
"The Evade ability is provided by a 'plug' attached to an Elite's armor, described as a 'dummy module' or 'terminator plug' whose precise function is unknown. In any case, it appears to enhance the mobility of the wearer and is compatible with both Sangheili and MJOLNIR armor systems."
"Canonically, the 'Sprint' function operates by bypassing the safety limiters of the MJOLNIR actuators and "muscles", allowing better performance at the expense of heat regulation, overheating the user if used for prolonged periods." - Halo: Reach Game Manual

That is correct. The bodys 'Sprint' function is normally tiggered by nerve stress, or motor-end stress, that is why we move super-fast for a shot period of time when frightened, or hurt. It is a natural function for body survival. But Noble 2 'Kat' has found a techno way of reversing the Back-Off effect, making a Spartan able to move faster, more like x2.5 the normal speed, but if over-used, it could cause a body break-down. Here is the Diogram: 1. Human or animal's body detects physical stress in body. 2. Brainwaves increase, ordering the heart and lungs to work harder. 3. This enables the Human or Animal to Run, jump, climb, or fight harder then usual. 4. Once threat is destroyed, or the brainwaves stop, the burst of speed stops. 5. The human or animal is then again at normal strenth or speed. Hope you guys can finally study science. v.v

I loled at everything you said here. Halo Wars was a good RTS console game, it's just that every halo fanboy wanted FPS ACTION HIGH ENEGRY 24/7 GUNGUNGUN. Instead of plan, build up, upgrade for 15 minutes than attack. Multiplayer on HWars was fun. But what was even worse is your final conclusion. You don't know anything about this game do you? My Halo Ratins: Halo 1: 8.75/10 Great game, good campaign, multiplayer networking sucks. Halo 2: 6/10 Rushed game, blah campaign, blah multiplayer, but at least the mp works here Halo 3: 9/10 Short campaign compared to 2, but at least this didn't try to overdo itself. Multiplayer was fun and worked. Halo Wars: 9/10 Good Console RTS, really had fun times in the MP matches on 3v3. Halo 3 ODST: 8/10 Good campaign and story, maybe to much downtime but wasn't that bad of a campaign compared to most Bungie games. Halo Reach: 6.5/10 blah campaign, unbalanced multiplayer. At least 343i is trying to fix it with the upcoming title update. Mass Effect 2: 9.75/10 Great campaign, so good it didn't need multiplayer. But the game can be game ruining glitchy at times :P Edited by MatthewDratt on Sep 17, 2011 at 12:29 AM

Listen, mate, I understand you're reasoning, but maybe I just play too many strategy games, OR, I maybe just think that it is nearly impossible for a good RTS to come out on console. You can give it any score you like, but I have at least a score of my school friends backing me up.
Although, truth to tell, they're kinda stupid.
Anyway, good luck with yo beliefs. I'm sure you will one day realise that you are wrong, and suicide because you cannot imagine a world where you are wrong. Good day to you, sir.

Oh god. Its not the best rts. Its a fun RTS, better than Wars.
And Age of Mythology sucks as an RTS. If you spend too much time on it, you suck at other RTSs, because in Mythology you don't need to be as skilled, and playing it just weakens u over time.

Quote: --- Original message by: LegionofShadows Listen, mate, I understand you're reasoning, but maybe I just play too many strategy games, OR, I maybe just think that it is nearly impossible for a good RTS to come out on console.
I think you missed my point. Quote: --- Original message by: LegionofShadows Halo Wars:

I am sorry, but I have to agree with HaloIsAHorribleGame. But the charecter from God of War can't beat Gordon Freeman. Plus, the game is just epic, anyone who says this trailer sucks, obviously has no taste for a good video game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yV00UE_UaAY&list=FLJFobh-KmYF1JDvxJ9d5Daw&index=1 I recommend if you do not want to see innocent people die, I recommend skipping to 0:57, just soem advice.

Oh...My...God.
One of the most awesome trailers ever. I recommend getting that game, anybody. I have it, and it owns. Not as much as Halo, but it still friggin owns.
It better than Wars and Reach, as well.
