Left 4 Dead was a pretty good game, it really punishes you for not using teamwork. (If you play the game, you'll see, go 10 feet from your buddies, and you're about to lose the game). However my objections to L4D are:

(I'm talking about survival mode here)
1. The gameplay design is extremely unbalanced. You get hit by the tank once and you're done. The stun time is so long, that by the time you can move again, he's there to hit you again and take out another 30 health.

2. Most of the maps aren't much good. The only ones that give you even a decent chance of survival are Terminal, Boathouse, Hospital, and maybe Runway. The other maps are just awful.

Honestly, Survival is actually quite fun, but pretty soon you find that it is just simply too difficult. The good thing about this is that the game is very exciting and really actually makes you feel punished and desperate the way you would in a zombie apocalypse. But for gameplay balance, it needs some serious improvement.

I never Played the First Call of Duty.
However I did play the second one. The Story wasn't very engaging, That said, the game play was reasonably enjoyable.
I played a Demo for the third game, which seemed like a newer C.O.D 2.
COD 4 - Pretty Good game, new and original encounters and an interesting story line.
COD 5 - Story wasn't interesting, because that setting has been done at least 3 times. :I
COD 6: I Loved the single player. Wanted to die with the multiplayer. Spec-Ops was 'okay' but wasn't that fun In my opinion.
Black ops - I don't even want to get into how bad this was, But I still think MW2 was worse.

MW3 looks actually quite interesting.

Halo:D

Halo 1 - When I first played this game 10 years ago, I fell in lovexD
The environment, the weapons, the enemies and the story line, VERY original. ( Not to mention the HOURS of splitscreen slayer:D)
Halo 2 - I got this game in 2004 - opened the Metallic case of my collectors edition, and played the game. It dove much deeper into the covenants beliefs and ideas. And FINALLY - ONLINE MULTIPLAYER, now I can kill people from the otherside of the world:)
Halo 3 - The new visuals, the finale of the trilogy, the end of the covenant (or is it??).
Fully Ranked multiplayer with tracked scores and stats! - But the gameplay, not so great.
Halo ODST: Not as great - but one of the most original story line for ANY game - not just halo - And the all new firefight, which isn't as good as Nazi Zombies In my opinion.
Halo REACH: Alot of people don't like this game, but I do. The Multiplayer is great, the Campaign enjoyable. Great fun with friends (online or not) and the improved Forge too!

Zombies vs Firefight?

HALO < COD

Creativity and Customization:

HALO > COD

MULTIPLAYER:

HALO > COD (Cods multiplayer is horrific IMO)

While yes I am a HUGE halo fanboy, this is as Un-biased as it will get with me:)

I saw all of halo in COD. the opening cutscene in cod 5 showed EVERY EVENT EVER in halo.

Meh. I like Team Based games, but they have to be really believable. Games like SWAT and Brink, Lone Wolf never rewards you. Arma II, ultimate Team Play. Coordination of attacks on multiplayer is sick.

I do think Halo's the best game ever, although I can't say because I haven't played every game. My reasons:

ORIGINAL
Encourages teamwork still on multiplayer in curious ways(LIke, OMG ITS A HACKER, we must team up to defeat it! Or aimbotter, dunno.)
Awesome story.
Awesome stuff.
Beautiful music(My favorite game music out there.)
Awesome characters. I almost cried when Miranda died, then sergeant Johnson, but Johnson more really.
It has the Chief. Most badass character ever, in my opininion.
Other stuff like dat.

Reach and Black Ops are both equally as horrible. Not once in Reach did it ever feel like the planet was being invaded. The multiplayer in both games is both infuriating and utter crap.

I could never really get into the CoD games (mainly because I don't actually have any), so my experiences would usually end in failure and tears as I got owned by friends while throwing flashbangs instead of jumping (LolBumperJumper). However, I can see how it might be highly engaging to people, so from an outside perspective, it does look like a great game.

Halo 3 is, simply put, the best console game as of yet. The campaign has some decent storytelling and plotlines, the soundtrack is incredible, and the multiplayer is literally raw entertainment refined into video game form.
Halo 1 had that title, until Halo 3 was released :3
Halo 2 was rather lackluster to me. Certain things were just "off" to me - poor animations, mediocre plot (dat cliffhanger), etc. all add up to make the game overall not as good as the other Halo games.
Halo 3 ODST has the most engaging story out of all of the Halo games. Gameplay and Firefight mode are very solid as well.
Halo Reach is the worst Halo game to date. Everything about it, from the lazy, uninspired, and outright disgusting weapon animations to horrible gameplay mechanics (Bloom. Need I say more?) is an abysmal failure. It's interesting because the "additional features" that Bungie slapped on were rather disappointing. Everything has more polygons, but they look somehow uglier. Armor abilities are rather gimmicky. Armor customization has so many possibilites, but the Spartan model still looks strange and mediocre. Forge World unlocks so many possible new things, but I get tired of seeing the same green grass, clear blue sky, and silver Forerunner-ish structures within a few maps. This game was ultimately a tremendous let-down.

The AI in Reach is retarded. 9 times out of 10 as soon as my shields drop, I instantly get headshotted by a god damn needle rifle. And don't even get me started on the heretic elites in firefight that don't have to reload.

Tell me about it. I got myself covered up to my neck in people who think Reach was the best. That goddamn AR was just so ugly. It is an MA37, commonly known as MA5. Nobody thinks to use MA5Bs, even if they are better.

I like the possibilities of forgeworld, but I don't like how they set it up. They should have different sectiosn with different environments. I was so looking foward to a Snow part, I was disappointed.

Reach was the second worst. I only say that because of the epic fail that was Halo Wars. Wars would have been good if they released it on the computer. It had good animation, nd I liked the fact that u commanded. But it was the most epic fail. It should have definitely been on computer, and the story sucks as well.

COd doesn't suck. The best Cod game is WAW, which is Cod5. The ones after dat are just the same games with new coats of paint.

You can't just say that. It's all down to your personal opinion. I personally prefer COD and other FPS multiplayer over Halo. I will play Halo, but I prefer others. But in terms of story and art work, nothing beats Halo.

I don't care about what people say. AA is a hell lot more realistic than COD(and more fun). Hell, it was developed by the army themselves. They sure did a good job using the game to promote themselves and bring in more recruits unlike COD(and G.I Joe). Plus, it's free.

eeeh, Halo 2 wasn't as good as the original Halo.

I lean towards Halo in all things, just because it sheltered me from everything. Flame wars at school, rages, it protected me.

It was also the first FPS I ever played,and the first time I played it, I was like "OMG!I JUST KILLED A JACKAL! I AM PRO!" Yea, but the one thing I like most about Halo is its ability to look good. Halo Combat Evolved still looks nice compared Black Ops, I mean, emphasis on the NICE! It doens't have to be totally realistic, but its that nice part that makes me like it more.

And they are different games, but COD is just trying to release a new game every year. Same game with a new coat of paint, in my opinion. Nothing really NEW!

And Halo makes it more interesting every gamne. Halo 1 was just pure awesome, Halo 2 put in Dualing, Boarding and more focus on the covenant, Halo 3, well, FORGE AND RIPPING OFF TURRETS! BOO YEA! ODST and Firefight, VISR and the fact ur not MC. Wars... no. Just no. Reach, forge world, WAY more customisation, even though the Spartans look yucky, and Anniversary, PURE AWESOME IN THE AWESOME ORIGINAL WAY, AND WAY BETTER GRAPHICS! Although I hate it how they're putting in the elites with those silly helmets that look like hats. And 4... Do I even have to say it? Everything I've seen of it looks like its going to live up to the standards of the awesome Halo games, like 1 and 3.

COD5 is admittedly the best(COD game) though. You have to admit, it was pretty fricking sweet. Zombies, and REZNOV! REZNOV, MY LOVE! Awesome dude. Almost as up there as Chief. Almost, but not there.

I am pumped for Halo CEA. The maps look great, campaign looks cool. Seems pretty loyal to Halo 1. Now if only I had Xbox LIVE...

I hope the game's as good as EA thinks it'll be.

Crysis 2 makes battle field look like a kids game.

To me, halo is more than just a game. Its a universe;a story; alot more than just run and gun and OMG NOOB I KILL YOU!

Halo 3 was the first shooter game I played. Ever.
And then I look back. Halo 1 //was/ an amazing game. original enough, cool guns, and lots of fun. (loved using the plasma pistol :D)
Halo 2 did a great job of expanding the story and adding gameplay, but it just felt off. It looked weird, felt weird, and :/.
Halo 3. Halo. God. Damned. 3. This is still my favorite Halo game (and prob my fav game of all time, one of) Everything. The fun of mowing down people on Narrows with twin SMG's, Standing in the lush green grass of Valhalla with a Spartan Laser, it felt so right. The armor customization, the menu, the amazing sound track.
I think Halo 3 had amazing enviroments, that were beautifully done.
Halo 3 ODST: I loved the armor in the game; and the city. Bungie did a great job setting the mood, and the design of everything, just blows my mind.
Halo Reach; It was good, but Halo 3 still wins. It just feels so repetitive. I love the graphics, the enviroments, (specially ForgeWorld and Winter Contingency) and the animations. Most notably the beautiful pistol and shotgun.

I still think halo 3 has damn good graphics.
CoD, on the other hand, is just Run and Gun, its nothing new/ creative. Its based in the real world like everything else.
CoD:BO MP is even worse than MW2 MP IMO.
