Agreed on both those statements. I do find it annoying when people complain about something that's based on the preferences of the creators, and nothing they can change though. CMT can post updates wherever they wish and so complaining may be allowed but it is rather pointless.

In other news, I got HEK and Halo running on OSX, I got several things working and hopefully I'll have a video working later today before I go to work.

Are you guys going to attempt a cave scene? And when I say cave I mean barely lit, deep dark pits, can't even see the ceiling dark. I always wanted something like that(I know its what you guys want), but they are not in many good FPS and it can provide some nice gameplay as well. I think if you do do one, I think you can pull it off. You guys have done amazing stuff with a 10 year old engine that I am surprised bungie or 343i hasn't even referenced you guys.

hey I've gotta ask this because it's been a thorn in my side for every halo game

since you got normal maps working on non bsp items, could you get decals appearing on non bsp objects? I would really love to see bullet holes and plasma burns appearing on ai, vehicles, etc.

I know it's a lot different than normals but could you perhaps look into it?

Yeah, they'll all have different weapons, i just haven't got around to giving it to them cause right now cause shadow hasn't run the scenario through his latest uncorrupted yet. So as of now the ODSTs can't follow you through.

they should have your silenced smg. due to the fact that you are supposed to be sneaky in this level so stealth is key.

Silenced weapons for the first part, then things like shotguns, assault rifles, and smgs for the boarding part would be good!

Being sneaky isn't going to be the marines biggest issue anymore, the covenant are going to have bigger problems to worry about by the time you are trying to board the ship. I'll probably give them a well rounded set of weapons.

thing is the way i see a50 is you know stealth is key but soon as you get in the ship it doesnt matter because they know you have breached them.

chief should start with
silenced sniper
ar

odsts
silenced smgs


then when you come across the first marine dead body there should be a shotgun

Well maybe give the marines that get off the pelican first, some get silenced smgs, when you get into the ship, they have regular smgs like they took off the silencer.

I honestly don't know, With OS we may be able to generate effects in anims like you can with sounds, if so a hammer will be entirely possible. Also highly likely then would be, a sword with lunge. This is all an IF though, we would still have to make it backward compatibly for the luddites who don't want to use OS.

Edit: Spiral would you mind editing out that pic, I'd rather not have people asking me for the next 2 years what happened to the gravity hammer pic "we" posted.

I really don't see gravity hammers working that well in CE, with its primitive physics engine. I'd rather just see a usable sword.

I don't mess around that much with custom weaponry, but couldn't you just have a gravity hammer use a damage effect that causes a fair bit of instantaneous acceleration?

Another idea, try to a make a free roam area where various task has to be done before proceeding, like Silent Cartographer, except bigger and more to see. Maybe around 7 Main task with sub task leading up to their completion and maybe side task. Not a complete open world experience but it gives more variety and sandbox gameplay. Have like two Biomes so that a repetitive color code doesn't get dull, such as forest that turns into snowy mountains. Pretty sure its a lot of work, but hey something to think about.



And try to make a desert invasion scene, add a little warm colors in there.

Nice to know that you ain't overpowering the game engine like Crysis. Not even the current Generation of computers can fully master it and to be honest, Halo OS is more beautiful than that game.
