Halo Maps is responsible for my entire career path. Without this community, I'd have no idea what I'd be doing now. Halomaps provided me a hobby and a skill set to make it through university and ultimately halo maps helped land me a job in the game industry. I wouldn't have explored coding and 3D art, met all my university friends/connections, or even appreciate halo as much as I do without this place. Most importantly, I wouldn't have gotten to meet all of you guys who supported each other to create wonderful content. Or just added to drama haha . Either way I'm happy to have lived thru all of this with you guys.
Dennis, if there is anyway you can keep the forums on a view-only state I believe that will help people who are still in the growing MCC Halo CE modding community. We love this forum and I think it can continue to be a place of knowledge and appreciation, even if its just as a stop for google search results. This forum does and can continue to help modders, even if it gathers dust.
I'd also like to say I respect the years of interesting experiences you strongly stood to witness and moderate Dennis. While at times a rough job, you truly did helped an entire community grow.
I'm happy to have known all of you. Good times and bad times, it has been more than well worth it.
wrist watch, with the map editor
 Fantastic
Happy Birthday to Heretic Hunt! It has been 10 years since I announced Heretic Hunt.
Today I am releasing ancient builds from my early development of Heretic Hunt. These builds do not represent Heretic Hunt's current state at all haha. These maps where compiled around 2013 but it is most likely that these were developed in 2012. Don't expect anything high quality haha

These where created for Halo Custom Edition so if you plan on running it on MCC, I have not clue how that will go. hh0.map, hh1.map, hh2.map, hh3.map, hh4.map
"map_name hh0" will start the maps and they do load in order when you finish each mission with the exception of hh4.map. Please run "map_name hh4.map" to play it.
None of these have a followable story or any form of continuity. These where more like sandbox tests and for learning experience.
Thank you to Colter for porting the first ever heretic elite and heretic grunt to Halo Custom edition. Additional thanks to zteam, Delicon, Jesse, CMT, LoneWarrior, and everyone who supported Halo CE modding in the earlier days and making these builds possible. Do what you would like with the tags inside the maps, just make sure to credit of course!
With mod tools for MCC's titles coming out soon, Heretic Hunt has a lot of development needed.
Thank you for sticking around and hope to see you guys with Heretic Hunt's next steps for the future.
Here are some screenshots of the old maps:

A huge thanks to Dennis and all of you here. Halomaps has made significant impacts on my life and I wouldn't be pursuing what I am today without Halo Custom Edition, this forum, and the support and thread replies for you guys. You guys rock.

Amazing work! Love the aesthetic a lot. Hope you stick around the Discord, people would love to see work like this from you.
Just beat the mod. Lots of fun! The slipperiness of the thrust pack made close combat very unique feeling compared to usual halo cqc. The new enemies was quite fun and kept me on my toes in a few instances.
Are you planning on making bug fixes? I ran into 1 or 2 game stopping bugs/issues. I'll give it another go that doesn't involve playing with mostly the shotgun on normal difficulty. I might run into other bugs/issues that would be good for everyone to get a patch for.
Congrats on the release, I'm having fun!
I remember having the tangled looking bipeds as well. From what I recall I was able to fix it by grabbing a later jms exporter version AND upgrading 3dsmax versions. I currently have the 2018 version with no issues. I recall this issue happening when I was using the 2014 version. Might have been 2013.
No public updates yet. Things are going slow.
Hey guys made a little trailer for you guys! https://youtu.be/-YGa5w30UNg
Official room and time! Saturday 11AM at the Armory stage
If you still want your project in I maybe able to squeeze it in. DM me on discord. #6935 Spiral
For some reason I feel like I provided something for SPv3. I can't quite put my finger on it. It might have just been Oddball things. I recall providing early plasma repeater scripts and a very bad squad command script. Neither of which ended up seeing the light of day. Maybe i'm just remembering things wrong.
Anyways, glad to see you guys are giving credit and I'm happy to see you guys are reaching another release!
Heretic Hunt is alive. With Halo Discovery Outpost coming I will be forced to have progress I can show you guys. An official Heretic Hunt discord soon hopefully as well.
Also, with sad heart, I should probably let you guys know that the voice actor for the new heretic character is unable to do voice work for an unforeseen amount of time.
The voice of Gianni Matragrano from the CE3 2016 trailer will be missed. voice over guy here https://youtu.be/wweY0EfcsB0 I hope for his return. But for now this means there is an opening for a voice actor. There are always openings for actors in Heretic Hunt. Hopefully a new youtube video soon. Edited by Spiral on Jul 2, 2019 at 09:45 PM
Oh they actually approved it, wow. I will have to organize a lot of things now. If anyone wants content shown at this panel please message me on discord. Spiral#6935 Game demo of a few mods was approved so get yo maps ready. I'm gonna advertise the heck out of this.
I will be organizing this a bit more mid July. It feels like rushing for CE3 again. Except all of y'all will probably see my face in a possible recording of the panel and not just hear my voice coming from an elite biped.

Quote: --- Original message by: LaikaGlove I figured I'd release what I have because it's still an asset to the community. I'm not sure how many people are still active around here, but I was hoping with the soon to be release of MCC for PC there would be a spark of new activity
People who think this way are fantastic to me. Thank you so much and I'm glad to see a tool like this make it to the public custom edition community after such a long time. I really really appreciate it.
Oh my lord I've always wanted a solution to my horrible sloppy bsp clean up days. I'll give this a go later on. Thank you DeadHamster
Hey this is pretty damn neat. The HSC always looked like a mess of parenthesis to me. This is definitely an acceptable alternative.

Hey guys so as most of us know Halo Outpost Discovery is a thing: https://halooutpostdiscovery.com
I noticed that the community can submit a request to host a 60 minute panel during the event. I've been thinking about this for some time now and I'll be near Anaheim at the time of the Anaheim event so I plan on submitting a request to make a Halo Custom Edition panel. Would anyone like to join me? Yes this means meeting me in person. I'm sure none of you would try and rob me for tags.
We'll obviously mention what Custom Edition is, its history, and popular mods that people may have seen. SPV3, Stkft, Firefight portent/Descent, Halo ce3, Halomaps.org, Probably Storm, Huge/Bigass and all other popular staples of CE will definitely be highlighted. We'll also go over up and coming mods too with permission from creators/teams. Obviously Heretic Hunt will be shown with brand new content
I can increase the scope of the panel to include the topic of all Halo mods if I have others outside of the CE community join me/requests it. I would like to know as soon as possible from all of y'all. Also I'll probably have a copy of a Heretic Hunt beta with me to share with anyone who shows up to the Anaheim event. Maybe a Firefight Portent II beta as well.
Halo Outpost Discovery Anaheim is August 30 – September 1 Panel submission deadline for Anaheim is May 31 but I don't think submitting last second is a wise choice. Making a panel submission doesn't guarantee that a panel will happen. But if you showup anyways we can say that we've met someone in person who mods halo. Not many can say that.
If any of you want to join me or know anyone who might be interested in joining me please reply or message me on discord Spiral#6935
Also I'll be redoing my hot-glued grunt cosplay from comic con so don't miss that. Cosplay people I met, Instagram @anvilstation Edited by Spiral on Jun 21, 2019 at 12:38 AM Edited by Spiral on Aug 27, 2019 at 08:43 PM
Hey I was just thinking about that insurrectionist project. It was one of my fav WIP projects back when Halomaps was populated. While i'm sad to see this isn't a return of the project, i'm glad you're getting the content out there in some form. Thanks for visiting us and I'm happy to see you around.
Oh nice! I'll check it out later. Good to know people are still making tools.
Heretic Hunt is still alive. I check Halomaps daily and try to keep up with all of the projects here without saying a word. I'm still around.
I should really have an update video or something.
Here is a needle rifle I did like 5 months ago. WIP https://youtu.be/0xRCbUPObpc obvious shader and animation errors/not-so-good-quality parts along with other things. I've been trying to get everything looking consistent with a halo 2-HD kinda look. That or another look i'm trying out.
I'll see what I can comeup with for a video later on. I hope. Edited by Spiral on Dec 20, 2018 at 06:28 PM
