So here's 13 rigs that I've set up material-wise for animators to quickly grab and start using. I put "beta" in the title because well, this isn't exactly finished per se. While this is pretty much the release, I'd like to hear some input from you guys before I upload the pack to Halomaps.
(PLEASE don't do it yourself, it'll be uploaded by myself in due time)

As of right now, I have all those rigs you see in the picture in the pack, as well as the CS:S arms and Gordon Freeman but I kinda am leaning towards removing them since they aren't rigged for Halo and therefore do not qualify as Halo rigs (duh).

Tell me what you think I should do or add to each one and I'll consider it.

Otherwise, enjoy! :D

http://www.mediafire.com/?4jvncnhylyij7ie
Includes:
-15 folders each with a 3ds Max 8 .scene and a rig
-Skins for each rig, some having multiple
-No .gbxmodels, since this is mainly for animators and Max itself. You can always compile it into one if you want

Unless you're a miracle rigger and have made the H2 Elite and Arbiter bones compatible with my rig I implore you to make sure people know that animations made with one will 99% of the time not work for the other, lest we have some disappointed and frustrated Elite fans.

I didn't rig any of them, and actually I can't remember where I got the H2 Elite and Arbiter from. I think they were just in the folder that ICEE originally gave me ~2 years ago.

Either way, way before you started messing with the elite.

Nice. I wanted to get into animating and needed a good rig. Now I have tons of choices :O

Which would you recommend for animating?

I always like animating with the CMT Spartan rig, but in terms of something more user-friendly I think the Halo 2 rig is the one that'll probably least bite you in the butt for not knowing the difference between a good looking thumb and a bad one.

Edit: Sigma's rig is pretty nice too I suppose.

I was all set up for animating when I realized I hadn't downloaded any of the rigs yet ._.

What weapon model would you recommend for animating practice? I would go with the magnum maybe.

May I ask what/whose arms are located third from the left on the second row?

Teh Lag's ODST Rig.

To be honest I'm not sure if I should even be giving that out, but it's been so long since the animation competition that he originally released it in I thought it might be okay.

Still, sorry for not asking you Laggy.

Pistols are pretty easy so I'd go with one.

I highly recommend something intricate and complex with a bunch of bolts and doobly bits hanging around everywhere. Go for something high-poly made with sub-division modeling that isn't even supposed to go in-game. That would be a great starting point, because you'll probably only quit in the first 10 minutes when nothing is rigged properly and the model lags your computer when you're trying to move the perspective view!

But in all seriousness, go with either the Halo 1 Assault Rifle or Halo 1 Pistol. They are the simplest to start animating with, in my humble opinion, and the angles for creativity number many.

Also, cool release ODX, even though it's just a bunch of pre-rigged FP arms you compiled together with your prodigious animating aptitude. I'm sure the community will enjoy animating with an abundance of various interesting arms, even though the default Halo 1 Master Chief FP rig is still by far the best.

So what do you guys think, should I bother to keep the CS:S arms and Gordon Freeman or take them out?

Should I fix the readme files (because some don't have an author for the rigger)?

Etc etc?

I have a rigged turbosmooth cs:s arm for halo (As well as the normal model that I showed in biped thread), if anyone wants it. Also got the gbxmodel as well.

No, that's fine. I always give it out on request anyway.

Additionally I'll be in contact with you about the Elite rigs: my most recent rig file combines the CMT Elite and all of its arm permutations with the H3 one and in a day I can make a version of the H2/Arbiter that are compatible as well.

Weird. It seems that the link works, except the actual file download could not be found in the internal server.

...Did you not read what I said above?

I'm going to reupload it, I forgot last night but I'm getting it up now. Should take like 1-2 hours depending on how well my internet decides to work.

Edit: Added the reupload to the OP.
