So umm. I've been messing around with Halo 3 lately. It seem that it is possible to do it in a different engine so it can be used on a pc.
I've been playing with models form Halo 3 all over the internet and instead of a Halo CE remake, I want to get a true group of people to try to creaste a version for the pc with a very open mapping system.
Unity can do the trick but it would take a while.
I'm only going to try for a while. If we dont make progress I'll drop it but i think everyone would love a Halo 3 PC
What are your views on this?
My "Mapping" team isn't puting pout work. All have to the VERY VERY basic shape of the first weapon tag. I'm more willing to do something new something harder.
I've build code before for people.
My little experience wont be enough i need people who want to at least try.
You do not have to have Unity to help but if you want it pm me.
This is something IO have my heart set on the most.
I hope you guys can allow me to show you what I can do with teamwork.

I love the game but it is so annoying only being able to play it on XBox 360
Do you guys even want a Halo 3 pc?

Okay.
What did you do the get the models in the engine?
What i mean is did you have to convert the models and material at all?
I will try as something to pass time.
No one wants it but I do so i'll try myself.
Important You ahve to have a good group of people to get anytrhing done. it takes a TEAM.
that is way I'm asking for a TEAM first.
Like i said im not exzpert but I'm going to try.

Unity imports MAX and OBJ and 3DS and a crap ton of models and automatically converts them to FBX. does a heck of a job with it too.

Meh, idk. i tried. I have a AR that works like a call of duty gun. In other words, its an AR with bloom that recoils upwards and has a glitchy muzzle flash and makes sparks fly EVERYWHERE. If i ever continued, i would change that...but as i said in my thread, i would need support from people who could legitimately help...like gamma did, by donating his AR.

I have doen this in CryEngine 2 and 3, several assets... over 100...
You WILL get bored when it comes to BSP scripting and AI.

AI is mad bad in unity, not without rediculous work. BSP scripting isnt that bad, i did a bit for a little indie game a friend was doing....but that was like 2 years ago and i completely forgot how to do all that stuff. I remember your little halo aero, shame that didnt happen...

Oh please don't fake anymore...
Anyway I think that dealling with the long ai process is crazy but with how "open" Crytek claims cryengine to be it can allow for some very realistic physics and some crazy weapon abilities

unity is awesome being able to play games anywhere! graphic capabilities are comparable to psp and if your at a college computer it loads a game within seconds though halo 3 looks like itll take forever to load not to mention system lag once it fully does halo2 for pc i understand but halo would have to be downgraded a lot if you want it to run successfully on unity there will likely be bugs and glitches to deal with thousands of pages of coding
if you can run a multiplayer only ver with a few maps i think that would be fair enough to work
i plan to makes games with my friend with unity during my next semester.
ive always been lurking around halo forums but i thought id be of some help because i see progress going down. but ill be around until the near end of summer because ill be going back to school then ill be lurking again haha

unity is pretty simple you can work with the defaults and just modify them if you want a real simple haloish game but i know how people dream of the exact replica
the thing is people here specializes in the halo engine or just learning im sure some people will let you borrow some assets and models but if you need help with coding and you need to find people at the unity forum or find friends who are also interested learn about the engine and help do a certain area where you can work in other areas im sure people in real life you can depend on more

that would be great to have a halo 3 PC game but Microsoft wont be happy because they own halo now. i think that the best idea would be to make a thread into a petition and have people leave a comment if they want halo 3 on PC.
get a super long list of people then send it to Microsoft to show them how many people want it to happen. (and how much money they are losing)

Hey guys!
Sorry for the bump!
I have been doing some more things in Unity and I was able to create a plasma grande explosion. I also did s script that theoretically make the plasma grande stick to items and not the ground or wall.
[Update] It worked
Now I'm working on making the plasma grande seem to charge up before explodng. I might have to write a script to do an explosion after a charge up sound.
Anyone have any sounds fro halo 3 I could use to try it out?
