When people decide to publish their maps from inside of HEKAIO they will get multiple options to publish them. They will get to choose if they want to publish it to our custom made publish website that will display all of the tag authors that contributed into the making of the map along with screenshots of the map and ability to download and comment. Any team members that helped edit the map and the team leader will be listed as well for group projects. This will help give authors the credit they deserve and help prevent people from claiming tags are their own. You will then be able to categorize maps by their authors and even see all of the maps that have your tags in them. If someone was to delete the digital signature inside of the tags the tags will render themselves useless as the digital signature is also a key to being able to decrypt some necessary parts of the tags. Someone could always write a program to still rip the tags out of memory and remove the credits but if someone wanted to truly steal someones tag and call it their own then thats a whole different issue.
When it comes to protecting tags i have not decided if the original authors will be able to decide to allow people to protect their tags. This would mean if I make a vehicle and send it to a friend but he wanted to protect his map i could choose if he could protect my vehicle or not from being extracted. Or possibly i can release my vehicle tag protected so people can use it, but can't edit attributes about it.
In other words the original author has all of the rights to his own content and can choose to redistribute it editable or not editable. This is a different type of protection that i don't think has been thought up yet. Content can still be extracted, but the digital fingerprint encryption key would tell if it can be edited or not...

It's better to generalize all of your code, although one person is fluent in VB that doesn't make the language any easier to understand for anyone else that would need to take over if something were to happen or if he needed help.
Lol and I guess you, sir Dwood, are a more reliable source of information. Should throw some DriftWood into a fire.
I think you (cyboryxmen) probably just got the two mixed up, a program compiled in VB and C# would both run slower than one compiled in C++. Just as any DLLs compiled with VB and C# will run slower than a DLL compiled in C++. Edited by Sprinkle on Mar 13, 2011 at 11:21 PM

If you say so.
It's safe to assume your making the tag extraction for the team seeing you pretty much stated it multiple times. I'm guessing your using BlamLib as you as well suggested the use of it. So what exactly are you doing since BlamLib pretty much does everything for tag extraction.

Much less problems would arise in this community if everything was open. This community is too immature to respect authors work, and half don't bother. If most people in this community had instant access to awesome weapons/vehicles ect... hundreds more mods will be made which are all pointless, unless complete rework is done. And not many people will bother to learn to create new content if its there for them to just use... All of what you have stated is mearly speculation and assumptions, you wouldnt know if anything you have stated would actually happen seeing as you were not part of the community before HEK+. Another thing that you cannot just simply grasp is that the primary function of this game is to entertain, so what if people do not want to do everything by scratch, if its fun for them let them be.

Quote: --- Original message by: XlzQwerty1 There is already a tool called batch bitmap extractor. By firescythe HEKAIO is an ALL IN ONE program. This means just because there is an app for extracting bitmaps already, an app for editing map files, and an app for extracting maps into tags doesn't mean it shouldn't be implemented into HEKAIO. This is why we are developing the plugin infrastructure. This will allow for already existing app developers to port their applications into plugins to be loaded in HEKAIO... The point is that we don't want to have to open up multiple applications to work on projects. Of course you will have photoshop and 3ds max open as well, but there is no reason for you to have to have 3ds max, photoshop, tool, sapien, guerilla, halo, bitmap extractor, HEK+, and teamviewer open just to share your screen and work on a project. Not to mention Teamviewer is terrible for sharing an editing environment and only one person can have control at one time.. Firescythe has agreed to help work on the project as well and has been implementing features into blamlib that we will be using as soon as they are implementable. Currently we are still looking for a directx developer that is able to work with us on this project. HEKAIO WEBSITE:http://www.hekaio.info/

let me fix that ^^there removed pics remove the above quote and pics and your back on topic Quote: --- Original message by: ethreepohUntil we decide what this is going to be I'm not going to get into huge detail of what this is, what it will do, and how it will do it. I am in need of developers that wish to spend some time working on a HEK AIO project. This will be much like what Prometheus promised, but never ended up getting released. The basic functionality of the app is already in place but to build it to the next level some hard research and development needs to take place. This project is in the beginning stages and is currently being rewritten from the ground up. We are working on a white paper with what we plan on putting into the application and our goals and deadlines. Once we have a solid team ready to go with accounts setup on my version control server and have a todo for each of the developers there will not be any more development taking place. If you are interested please contact me via email or one of the methods below: XFIRE: e3pobot AIM: helixservers MSN: E3pO@wmclan.net Current Team Members: E3pO - Project Lead Deelekgolo SiLentK Dwood Kiwidoggie Conure Chaos Oxide Some features may include: Real time editing of tags on multiple clients. This will allow for multiple team members to be in the same editing environment at the same time and be able to get work done much faster. Joe Blow can be working on getting a shader to look correct while John is working on adding vehicles and scenery to the map. These edits will be in real time and sync across multiple machines across the world. All changes can be logged and have a digital signature with version control. Everything is done inside of the AIO app. There will be a custom 3ds max export plugin that will allow you to export into our custom format. When you make a new project inside of the AIO app it will ask for a max project to import or start from an existing project map file. When you select the max option it will automatically generate the needed shaders and compile the textures you have assigned inside of 3ds max. It will optimize your 3d mesh to use the least amount of polygons as possible without ruing your mesh. It would be the difference of trying to listen to a high bitrate .wav file and a high bitrate .mp3.. Real Lightmaps. Because we won't be using tool at all for converting data into tags we will have full control over what is being generated. This will allow for fully custom UVW lightmaps with the options of different rendering methods. Ambient Occlusion, Real Radiocity, ratGPU, etc. Drag N Drop anything into the app. Do you have a .vehicle tag you want to add into the map? All you need to do is drag n drop it in and it will add it automatically to the scenario and have the vehicle waiting at your cursor to be clicked and placed. Lets say you want to put in a different sky? All you need to do is drag n drop a sky tag or right click and "Use Sky" to activate it. You will have the option to then regenerate lightmaps if you wish. Realtime BSP Edits. Because we strive for everything to be in real time you will be able to change minor things about bsps. Lets say you have a face that just doesn't look right in game but looked fine inside of 3ds max. You can manipulate it easily inside of the editor. Editing terrain or hills will be easy with different brush sizes to smooth hills or make mountains. This goes for UVW maps as well and other painting fun. Paint Brush madness. There will be multiple different brushes and tools to manipulate the bsp and the textures\lightmaps. Lets say you don't want to open back up photoshop to add a vehicle trail. Select the paintbrush tool and choose your favorite trail type and paint away. This will also allow for edits in lightmaps. Moving objects in the editor is easier then ever. Changing the rotation on objects and moving them around is super simple to do and can be snapped to different grid systems. This will make aligning up objects really easy! And much more.... If you are not a programmer and would like to give ideas feel free to leave a comment. If someone wouldn't mind posting the image linked below as I am not able to display images for another 3 days. Go find some more talented programmers and have them give me a message. Until then, I'm willing to bet you have no idea who any of those guys are or what knowledge they have. Feel free to doubt us all you wish, this project will be worked on and will be released regardless of how finished it is. Once we have a stable build its going to be released. Sure not every single feature in the list is guaranteed to be added but the majority is not a long shot at all... I've personally developed file formats for work that are being used in commercial environments. Custom file formats is nothing special whatsoever. I've also developed a successful network library that is used by many applications that use my servers to communicate and store users in databases. I've created a clone of the gamespy master server....
