There's no environment blur with Halo CE's graphics. This is the clear afternoon sky, with a model modification.

Yeah, but what i'm saying is first go into guerilla and open the sky, now you'll see fog color and it's set to really bright. this makes it so the farther away from a part of the map you are the more fogged\blurred it is. if you set this to a lower color then you get brighter more vibrant colors in your map

...Happy time :D?

EDIT: Just realized that it also makes the shadows more accented

Update: the detail object placements have somehow been erased! Only a few will be visible in the alpha, unfortunately.

Whats up with the tree trunk in the background? looks extremely fat and then skinny while going up.

Add race to it; Valhalla is such a great map to traverse in a vehicle in my opinion.

After testing the alpha, slappy is gonna fix some major bsp problems, especially the base.

It hasn't even been an hour into the first test and already there are a demoralizing amount of things people don't like.
And few glitches.
Alpha testers, please tell me what errors you have found on xfire or through a PM, rather than on the thread.

but the feedback is criticising his personal artistic choice, it doesn't concern the playability of the map or address any bugs. And to criticise one's artistic choice is demoralising. Just like when I wear my favourite pink shirt and everyone says it looks rubbish.

@ highguy, nature isnt perfect, to have uniformity would look unnatural, it looks much more realistic if there are a few wonky trees. I like the fat based tree, looks like one of those trees that have that shape because they've grown on a rock. Slappy, don't you dare change that fat arse tree, looks sexyyy.

Slappy, there are only about 3 people who I think you'd trust with the BSP. I don't want to name them though.

heres the thing slappy: the harsher the crit the better it is. cuz it pushes you to work more, also what i would suggest is breaking the crit into topics, there is visual crit ,
(shaders lighting etc) which should be the last thing on ur list of stuff to do, not because its not important but because this is just an alpha. then there is technical crit (vehicle placement tacticalstuff, like the turrets) and then there are ppl who dont understand cuz they cant; "its not shiney why do you fail at making it shiny" truthfully, it can be made shiny in halo's engine just tell those ppl to stfu and use enb series if they want it shinier. lastly just remember its only crit and its up to you weather or not u wanna utilize it. while everybody wants the beta or alpha or whatever ur calling it, i do think u should limit the amount of ppl you give it to, lest we have a cmt repeat where you have an excellent project leaked due to impatience and the community gets an unfinished project. i for one want a beta but know im not getting one. would i leak it? absolutely not. but its a respect thing. i respect this project and u enough to not want it until u are confident its "done". i think others who beg for a beta would do well to have a similar mindset. only give it to people who you feel would help most. but post as many vids from as many players as possible so as not to miss things, because we as a community can safely (without risk of leaks) give you gameplay crit that way. cuz i guarantee you there will be ppl who spot things u didnt that way.

phew, carpal tunnel. but all ranting aside your doing an excellent job and dont give up. and if it helps ask for specific crit on things YOU as the maps author are iffy on. that way we can help on the things u need help on.

keep it up holmes :)

Criticism isn't what I want or need. All there is to be criticized is either the obvious or the general, neither of which help.
As I always say, what is needed is prioritizing.
I also like the category thing, I've been noticing those things throughout the forum.

Kinda waiting for someone to tell me that harsh criticism is necessary and that I'm being a baby in some way, so I can utterly ignore them.

ok, you can ignore me all you want then.

but criticism is a vital thing during making a map, and being open to it is the key to success. even though your making this map, plenty of others will be playing it, and making the players be happy is the point of a video game experience.

No need, 094 has the hogs done... Hm, I sense a small overlapping of work here. I think we really need to organize who does what because I know that Qwerty is helping alot, and I am a bit too. Xfire would really come in handy here.

Edit: Qwerty and\or Slappy, I'm going to be on xfire all day today after 6:00 California time if you wish to discuss anything.

i'm not trying to start one, im telling you that you need to be open minded to criticism for outside sources to ultimately make it better. it is only benefiting you.

I think we're done talking about the criticism stuff, Higuy, it's getting nowhere.

Jesse gives me the idea of making a master list of project objectives, so we can see what's done already and what to partake in. Perhaps I can merge in my priorities list... and we'll see what direction to head in.

Slappy, I'll try editing the shaders for you if I can. I remember the old sandtrap shaders were absolute crap but with a little persistence (and 4 weeks) I got them to how they are now :)
If I fail, the worst that can happen is that you get someone else to do them.

Also, do you want me to take high-res pictures and post them? The ones you have right now seem a bit low in terms of quality.

You can go ahead and take xfire screenshots or whatever. I'm too lazy, I just snip the screen from sapien.
Maniac's looking over my shader tags, and I don't know whether work would overlap there or not...

Maniac is a pretty capable guy so I think I can safely leave it to him. Just the same, If nothing else, I still want to do the work aswell, then we can possibly compare and trade shaders for a better final product. I looked over the alpha and noticed that the weapons themselves are ok, but the HUD is absolutely old. I really want to replace that with the current one. Also, your BSP is pretty damn awesome.

Guilty as charged XD

It's cause I have a extra class afterschool, then I head over to my friends house until about 8:00, get home and spend 2 hours doing stuff and go to sleep. Spring break is here though so I can get lots done.

looks like you have a good enough group to help and find any problems that anyone giving crit could say or find.as for the alpha, that should obviously only go to those who are hands on helping you with it.
looking forward to seeing the completed version when it's done.
