Lol. The term Alpha comes from the Greek alphabet in witch case alpha is the top dog. Meaning that a beta is second and alpha is the finished product. So if this is before beta then it wouldn't be alpha and if it's the first release then it would be omega, because thats the lowest. so could we just call this the test version or something? :) Edited by grunt_eater on Apr 13, 2011 at 08:04 PM

Dude, alpha versions come before beta versions. Qwerty mentioned that since this is the first build to be tested, and that a lot of the looks are not up to par, that we should call it an alpha. Beta sounds more like pre-release bug testing... and the map isn't exactly there yet.

anyway i love this map{no homo} and the work that's being done,i would however really like to see the work being shown here,being put into a custom map next time and not a copy of a map that is already avalible if i just loadup halo3.

To be perfectly honest, I was a bit harsh, but it's just that it seemed to me that you were assuming a bit too much, especially when you consider what I already know. My point was that Qwerty helps Slappy quite a bit it, and I think it's fine if Qwerty fills in some of the updates because we all know that Slappy isn't always around.

On a side note, I think the glass looks kinda weird on the base and I don't recall a flag base or whatever being on the base unless its CTF/Assault.

No in the vehicle tag you can scroll down to seats and you'll see pitch range. If you want it to only be able to look side to side then make it -50 to 90. I'm taking this striate from the warthog passenger seat. So i'd do this instead of the camera tracks. Or maybe you would have to do the camera track two...In witch case i would just use the warthog passenger

slappy, i know a lot of race enthusiasts here in aus, ur map gonna support race? if it does id like to have some input into where the nav points go. i too love a good race map, seems like a lot of map makers either dont support it in their maps or they put the navs in stupid places or dont utilise the whole map, such a shame, race can b a lot of fun.

Most likely Slappeh will make the map compatible with most gametypes.

With this alpha test I'll recieve nothing but criticism on the bsp, and how it's not exactly halo 3. People who have never modeled before saying that they think a rock is too low or how the blends are in the wrong spots, how the bases aren't extremely detailed, or how I forgot the details from the river or certain ledges. People who have modeled before will be criticizing my overall modeling technique, and how I should do things like start over or use Poly more. But most of all, people will continue to judge the map by its shaders, something that I haven't been able to get right for seventeen pages. It's not shiny enough from the right angles because it cannot be. This is not halo 3's engine. I have been reluctant to give anyone the bsp in full for very good reasons, but I can't trust anyone anymore with this test. I think I might as well be giving the bsp to ONE other person, to have any and all texture work done to the best of this map's potential. That means source files, keeping in mind the fact that several people will have the structure bsp as a result of this gameplay mechanic Alpha test.
Pics are from sapien. Map already supports race. Blandness might be because of sapien. If not, then I can't help the fact that the shaders or lightmaps suck.

Question that might make the map less "bland". Do you have a fog pallet on the map. like if you added the bloodgulch sky (clear afternoon) Then it has a fog effect on it and some of the other sky's don't. I'll do more research on this but i am sure if you added the clear afternoon sky then it has a fog on it that is making it look blurred from farther away
