(shrugs) I know thats one way of doing it but i made it before i found that out, and i haven't messed around with detail objects much so i don't know how they work or if they can be animated. i'll mess around with them later but i'm busy enough now

For the last time, it's not "3d grass". It's not even scenery. And it's not needed where it shouldn't be. I'm working on the detail_object_collections, just having some problems with sapien crashing when I place too many.

They looked too tall as well in your previous video. When you crouched, it looked like you could have hid under them.

Also, footprints only needed on the snow. Nothing else.

I'm afraid that decal footprints might not show up under the snow seams-- they are more elevated then and more opaque than the rock seams.
I can make the footprints spawn footprint scenery, though, and that would work.
I guess I should make the detail objects shorter. Luckily, that's just a field change in guerilla.
Problem is, sapien doesn't like a lot of these objects so close together. I guess I just have to be careful, and budget space accordingly?

How would you get the footprint scenery to eventually disappear. Or could you do that in guerilla too?

footprints in snow or sand would look cool, but on grass i think it would look weird and unnecessary. however, go the stand up grass.

realism in halo would require spartans to stop flipping tanks without taking their hands off of their pistols that are somehow more effective of a weapon than a 15 round per second assault rifle

Halo is not supposed to be realistic, that is the whole point of Halo, Sci-Fi shooter. This is why we prefer Halo more than CoD because we have more skill and creativity while CoD Fanboys stick to their ultimate realistic games.

I'd also love to see you cap someone with a 50 caliber sniper rifle and not blow their arm off, much less freaking kill them

or get to join a firefight with an mp-44

or jump and be 100% accurate

or quickscope

I finished the footprint decals long ago. I will let slappy use them of course, if he wants. Either way, I'll release them (and everything I have) soon enough.

Hey jesse. Did you use scripting for the footprints or did you do it all in guerilla like i did?. Just curious to try and compare working styles

Didn't take more than 5 minutes to get the concept working. What took a while was getting the decal bitmap just right due to the randomized direction, and it's all done in Guerilla.

Lol yeah that sounds about right. And what i meant by being more real was making it have better graphics and such. Like in the maps bungie made for halo 1 they could have made them much better. Like in the ice maps add in some stalactites and footprints. And maybe even some dead grass and dirt. And snow blindness. I'm sure you get the idea

@slappy So since i haven't seen any gravlift scenery in the update videos does this mean that there wont be any or that you just haven't gotten them in yet?


@HaloIsAHorribleGame: If you love to see people in pain so much why don't you go to japan?. then you get to see a ton of people that have had everything they had taken away...The world isn't just a happy place to pick fights with others for sick psychological reasons and i think it's time we all had an awakening. Maybe then people would put aside this foolishness and stop acting inappropriately
