Oh, I was under the impression that the dark red elites were zealots, since that's the primary zealot color in Reach.
Anyway, my point is that it can't stick perfectly to the lore, so why bother proving it goes against the storyline? Lumoria is a brilliantly done map, and I don't think its fair to be critical of them in some minor storyline aspect. Edited by Polamee on Dec 14, 2010 at 04:57 AM

Aight, some things in here are great, a lot of things are bad. First off, the voice acting, is absolutely terrible, the only one who is remotely tolerable is Brandon, because he's the only one who sounds like he's the least bit into it. Meanwhile everyone else sounds like they're delivering a report on the most uninteresting topic known to exist. This is easily my biggest gripe, because every time I was getting absorbed by the great exteriors, and the great interiors (atleast later on, keep reading) I'd hear someone speak and it would totally ruin it. Second, some objectives, specifically the "Get across the wall and set up an LZ one", and the finale fight are very poorly implemented, well, more accurately, the triggers are. On my first playthrough I ran right by the place where you're supposed to kill a bunch of covenant guys, and the only thing that tipped me off that something was wrong, was when In Amberclad was still looping, despite starting 10 minutes ago. I stopped and looked at the objectives and noticed that what I was supposed to do was way back, at which point I just hit restart. Then I found out your opening cutscenes were unskippable :S The player has almost no indication of what he's supposed to be doing there, and unless you make it much clearer that he's supposed to stay there and kill things, (and by clearer I mean more than an unenthusiastic dialogue line) then things are going to go wrong. Another issue that happened to me was at the end of the area with the buggers, hunters, etc, in the cave. I finished that, and continued running through the door, as some idiotic marine charged out yelling and screaming. Apparently I had to talk to him to trigger the next event, but he ran right by me and there was no indication I Was supposed to wait. I ended up walking through the entire finale area to find absolutely nothing had spawned because of this. Atleast this time all it took was loading the last checkpoint to fix it. Third, and finally, the beginning areas, where you rehashed forerunner structures from the campaign and multiplayer was incredibly disappointing. I know full well that you have the best forerunner talents working with you, so why did you do this, it looked terrible. Other random irritations : The marine in the aforementioned pre finale area (after being talked to) will get you to follow him, then stop dead right where the bsp is supposed to switch. So he stands there in mid running animation. Ghosts coming out of the wrong way of a one way tunnel (after the wraith) Getting ejected out of the warthog and not being able to get back into it for absolutely NO reason whatsoever. Never give AI's rocket warthogs. The giant red whatever that covenant vehicle is looked awful. I can only take so much of the same tree. The wall, which was one of the only custom pieces of architecture early on, is incredibly boring looking. Some lights were uv'd wrong, and had borders. The ending cutscene is the most anticlimactic thing I've ever seen, and doesn't seem to fit at all, they need to get this archive, so they run away? The buggy cinematics, certain objects, most notably the pelican dissapearing on certain angles. The Good : The Cutscenes Most of the custom architecture The AI encounters Every single climax event, the finale was great fun, and the architecture was stunning. Your directing players directions through the use of light was great too. The skyboxes, glad to see con is still at it. EEEE: Quote: --- Original message by: Higuy You get what you get when it comes to voice acting. Trying to find voice acting was like trying to find that 3p animator. You know full well this is terrible justification, don't spew this higuy, you know better. Edited by SeL on Dec 15, 2010 at 12:50 PM

I stopped and looked at the objectives and noticed that what I was supposed to do was way back, at which point I just hit restart. Then I found out your opening cutscenes were unskippable :S Skippable cutscenes are difficult to implement. The looping music triggervolume error pissed me off too, but it only happened to me on my third playthrough. The player has almost no indication of what he's supposed to be doing there, and unless you make it much clearer that he's supposed to stay there and kill things, (and by clearer I mean more than an unenthusiastic dialogue line) then things are going to go wrong. Yeah I was misled a couple of times.Another issue that happened to me was at the end of the area with the buggers, hunters, etc, in the cave. Lol nice. By the way, that guy is actually the scientist.Third, and finally, the beginning areas, where you rehashed forerunner structures from the campaign and multiplayer was incredibly disappointing. I know full well that you have the best forerunner talents working with you, so why did you do this, it looked terrible. This was done, as Higuy has said, to save time in the production of the level. Modeling everything from scratch would take much longer and be too much work. Remember these guys have lives to keep track of too. Other random irritations : The marine in the aforementioned pre finale area (after being talked to) will get you to follow him, then stop dead right where the bsp is supposed to switch. So he stands there in mid running animation. Yeah, there are a few bsp change glitches, but the glitches they had before with bsp switches were WAY worse. I don't mind this very much.Ghosts coming out of the wrong way of a one way tunnel (after the wraith) Huhwut. The only way out of that tunnel is toward the player...Getting ejected out of the warthog and not being able to get back into it for absolutely NO reason whatsoever. This is on purpose, because the following encounter is meant to be played on foot.Never give AI's rocket warthogs. They never seemed to screw up when I played. The giant red whatever that covenant vehicle is looked awful. Shadow. From pre-Halo by Bungie. The color is bad but the vehicle otherwise stays true.I can only take so much of the same tree. What? You want them to make 5 versions of the pine trees? Don't think so...The wall, which was one of the only custom pieces of architecture early on, is incredibly boring looking. Forerunner looks like that. It's fine imo. Some lights were uv'd wrong, and had borders. I didn't notice any... Only maybe some cliff UV errors, but not everything can be fixed. The ending cutscene is the most anticlimactic thing I've ever seen, and doesn't seem to fit at all, they need to get this archive, so they run away? If you looked around, you would notice that TM is making a sequel. You don't know the full picture yet.The buggy cinematics, certain objects, most notably the pelican dissapearing on certain angles. Yeah, many of the cutscene problems were due to rushing at crunch time. Good thing an update will be released sometime. The Good : The Cutscenes TM just hired MattDratt to fix them. So expect them to be even better. EEEE: Quote: --- Original message by: Higuy You get what you get when it comes to voice acting. Trying to find voice acting was like trying to find that 3p animator. You know full well this is terrible justification, don't spew this higuy, you know better. Terrible justification? If he had better people to voice act he would have used them... no sense in not using available people. He just didn't have the talent availability. Edited by MoooseGuy on Dec 15, 2010 at 04:07 PM

Still, if you're gonna plan on putting custom voices, might as well get a sound editing program and fix them up a bit, no? I found the soundtrack to not really match the pace of the battles I was in. Sometimes, the marines did blow me up with the rockethog, make them not shoot at an enemy if the rocket's blast radius can impact the warthog. Cutscene glitches, obviously. Other than that, very well made. Quote: --- Original message by: MoooseGuy Who cares? It's called freedom of speech. We know that we have freedom of speech, it is annoying because it slightly hinders the experience of a high quality map. Also, restriction of expression, lol. People: like the Lumoria map or dislike it that is all fine and good, but if you are going to debate the issues of why you like or dislike it stay on the issues and off of personal attacks. Move on.

What Sciophobiaranger said. It's not as if this map was made by a professional studio with access to paid skilled voice actors. (By the way guys, I'll volunteer to voice in Lumoria pt2 if needed.)
