I believe that he means when you pick up or wield the weapon, you do something to it. For instance, the Halo Reach grenade launcher has you close the launcher tube, then you can use it.

Look at what Shockwave has the character do to the weapon in the beginning for an example.

hey josh boneyard v2's bsp is done i can send it to you if you want, i'm trying to texture it, but because i don't have photo shop or anything its going to look awful, so your team shoudl probably texture it.

I'm workin on the reach assault rifle right now and I was wondering if anyone could politely tell me how to make these:

Those are extrudes right?
I cant figure out how to make them and Id appreciate if someone told me how.

Cut for the flat extrudes.
Boolean for the ones on the grip.

Boolean? No. Just use tools like Inset to get some triangles to work work with. Then position the verts correctly and extrude the inner face you have created into a shape.

Edit:
If your making a poly then I wouldn't both with the small ones on the stock. Just the front one as you see it.

Also, key tip which everyone seems to do:
Don't model in small details if they are only going to be like 1px out of the base object, as you won't see the detail, due to how small it is and because of the lack of AA in Halo...

Here's my progress on the MA37:


In my opinion, I think the ammo counter area thing needs work, somethin doesnt look right about it, not sure what. Also i think i should remake the grip as well.

You should still use perspective mode though, it makes it a lot better. Just hit P with the user viewport selected. Also, model looks better than the last one. You're definately improving, still got a ways to go, but you're getting there.

E:

See how the user view is distorted, where as the perspective view is exactly how you would see it if you looked at it in real life?
E2: these are both taken at the same angle btw

Actually perspective distorts it more. User/Orgrapathic keeps the proportions normal.

also google search to find some tutorials on rendering, they help out a lot, before i knew about advanced lighting all my renders looked awful.

boneyard, the bsp is done i have given it to rfu previously known as h3mt, and i am attempting to texture it myself (not going so good)

those look really great but i kinda need the textured ones that i have seen around if possible, and i also need the dmr, i guess thats a lot to ask for so i am probably going to have to wait

The proportions are slightly off but it looks similar :)

Edit: Lul at the triangles: 3,362,800
