No but in all seriousness I was stupid and procrastinated my research paper, so I'm trying to get that done today. When I finish, I've got some stuff to show off :3

It got put on the back burner temporarily because I lost interest in Halo for a while. Now I'm back and starting to work on it again (It's really coincidental that I've had these posts literally right at the same time that I started up work on it again o.O
Sorry I don't have anything to show, but rest assured it's being worked on. Like I said before if there's at least one person who wants to see this released, I'll try my best to do that.

Am I the only one who has issues that this mission is taking place on Deimos, a moon of Mars that can be traversed in a full day and has an equatorial gravitational field of 0.0004 G's? I mean I have no complaints with the concept, which looks neat, so long as real life physics are taken into account...meaning don't jump or you'll go sailing into space (maybe not).
Unless, of course, I am unaware of Deimos' current state in the 26th century. Perhaps mankind managed to get Deimos to spin fast enough to generate roughly 1 G at its equator? Or added gravplating?

Unless, of course, I am unaware of Deimos' current state in the 26th century. Perhaps mankind managed to get Deimos to spin fast enough to generate roughly 1 G at its equator? Or added gravplating? And what about the flaw in that it's only 700 years after our current time and it's currently impossible to generate atmospheres or speed up evolution? I doubt that it would be possible to speed up evolution at a massive scale at any point in time, and nothing can live with no atmosphere, so if we generated an atmosphere for the moon by the end of the 21st century, that would still leave less than 700 years for life to come into existance, and evolve. Possible? No. So, if we ever want this project to be completed, I think we should just ignore issues like that :P

Now let's go get some BBQ and get bizzy GooloR But then there's the idea that there could be a giant explosion if we tried to restore an atmosphere within a vacuum, as particles have some strange effect when in a vacuum and alone. But yeah, that's just too confusing, so I guess I can stick with the theory of future tech being run by Kryptonite. :P

Dia daoibh a chairde! First, @ the Deimos discussion: I picked it because I thought it had a cool name and it allowed me to put a giant red picture of mars in the sky. The dialog is already recorded and I don't really care about it much so it's not changing :D Second, Elefants are slow, but we never forget. I've been meaning to post an update since I started working on this over summer again. It's been 4 damn years working on this project. Seriously, the most accurate date I have is the last modified date of an old max save dated Nov 26, 2009. And, I've done it mostly alone (although Gamma was a huge help with the scripts, especially early on when I was learning scripting, seriously this project wouldn't have gotten off the ground if it wasn't for him), but it's nearing completion. My most recent updates have been:
- Portalled the whole first BSP (seriously this is huge because the first BSP has a buttload of stuff in it)
- Added LODS on the more detailed scenery objects
- Significant overhaul of the first BSP geometry (second BSP is up next).
- Drastic lighting changes, dropped the blueish hue that was permeating everything, in favor of a more traditional warm brown/tan. Highlighted objectives with lights to draw player towards them.
- Several AI tweaks to make the AI less stupid, as well as changes to several encounters to better utilize the environment for more dynamic encounters.
- Addition of new enemy types, including MAKO drones and suicide bombers.
- A few new vehicles, including jury-rigged truck cabs outfitted with chainguns and Pelicans with extended troop bays.
- Multiple ambient life forms. Birds, Rats, Fish, Bugs, and Snails.
These are huge steps forward in the progress of the map. I've been without portals and LODS for 4 years now. The BSP is now not completely flat, which makes the map much more fun to look at and interact with. Next few big items on the list are:
- Overhaul all squad firing/start/move positions to work on the new BSP
- Cinematic tweaks
- Retool the ending battle
- Work MAKO drones into more existing encounters
- Fix scenery/firing position placement to prevent AI collision with scenery
- Double check that all tvol placement doesn't conflict with BSP updates
Some pictures: I just finished the majority of the BSP update, so all I have is debug quality lightmaps for now. The second BSP isn't shown much either because it hasn't really been touched since I implemented it (meaning it is basically just an older version of ump-advantage, heh) Some Pictures of the map during playthrough: The layout of the first BSP from left to right: You and your partner suiting up: After insertion: Some Innies: Sniping: Crystal Cave (it's not this dark ingame, trust me): Innies searching for me (I'm hiding in the vent above them): From my perspective: Carrying the informant out: Here's some of the assets in the map, taken on my testmap because it's brighter. Chaingun MAKO Drone Rocket MAKO Drone Hovers around squads of Innies, providing long range support. Moves faster than a Sentinel but is significantly less armored. Suicide Innie: He flails his arms around and makes a B-line towards you, before blowing both you and himself up in a large blast. Innie Pelican: You'll start to see these if you alert too many other squads of your position. They'll fly in and drop reinforcements near you. Some even have hastily tacked-on extended troop bays: Other Innie Vehicles: Mostly these are looted UNSC vehicles, although I am toying with the idea of some custom vehicles for the Innies. You'll see these as well if you alert too many enemies, and they'll arrive full of troops, so it's best to stay low. Some camera drones (dunno what I'll do with these, if anything, feel free to suggest stuff): I thought it might be cool to have these guys patrolling the sky with big searchlights and they'd alert the nearest squad who'd then come and attack you. Ambient Life: Bugs, Shroom Slugs, and Mushrooms: No hostile life yet, although that might change. These don't have anything to do with Innie, but here's some other stuff I've been working on: Lekgolo variant I'm thinking of using for an artillery role: Some sentinel variants, each with their own (yet to be implemented) weapons/roles: Far right one is just the normal Sentinel for comparison. So that's it for now. Slán go fóill!

It's nice to see all these new assets, but I have a few nitpicks: •Since the Mako drones are light, aerial recon units, I feel that your current iterations are a bit too bulky-looking, and appear to be over-armed. For the chaingun Mako, I would suggest doing away with the triple-barreled minigun and external ammo drum and replacing it with a single-barreled machine gun (such as the one found on the Scorpion, or the Halo 2 stationary turret). Ammo storage could be internal. For the rocket Mako, perhaps the metal shields from the Warthog's LAAG could be removed, making room for a single, shortened rocket tube below the central eye. •Rather than white decals, I feel the Pelican should have red decals, as this seems to be the color of the insurrection. Rather than having random square plates affixed to the hull sporting the insurrectionist logo, the logo could simply be painted on the tops of the wings and on either side of the cockpit. •The Warthogs could use a bit of modification. At the moment, they just seem to be covered in insurrectionist emblems. To further differentiate them from their UNSC counterparts, you could give them a gunmetal grey color scheme. Instead of a bent square of metal on the hood, you could give them something akin to a police car's ramming bar. You could knock out the windshield and/or remove the rollcage entirely. A good source of inspiration would be to search Google Images for things like "Somali Technicals".
Aside from that, things are looking good. I like the semi-trucks and the ambient life in particular, and the insurrectionist kamikaze is an interesting concept. I look forward to the release.

I'm loving how things are turning out, Elefant! I just have a couple stuff to add onto what Echo and rcghalohell already mentioned. Quote: --- Original message by: Echo77 Rather than white decals, I feel the Pelican should have red decals, as this seems to be the color of the insurrection. Rather than having random square plates affixed to the hull sporting the insurrectionist logo, the logo could simply be painted on the tops of the wings and on either side of the cockpit. You could use the Insurrectionist logo like a roundel (circle with designs to show what country a plane is from) for modern aircraft... If you want to do that, don't forget to put the logo on the bottom of the wings, too :P ^ This is an F-15 fighter from the Japanese Self Defense Force. (yes, it's a thing.) Notice the red dots on both of the jet's wings? (They're also on the other side of both wings, as well as the vertical fin) That's what I mean. Besides that, take a look at my other suggestions below. Quote: --- Original message by: Echo77 The Warthogs could use a bit of modification. At the moment, they just seem to be covered in insurrectionist emblems. To further differentiate them from their UNSC counterparts, you could give them a gunmetal grey color scheme. A good source of inspiration would be to search Google Images for things like "Somali Technicals". Quote: --- Original message by: rcghalohell i think the rebel logos make sense if they are using stolen unsc stuff Of course, it'd make sense to put the rebel logos on there instead of UNSC's markings. But rcghalohell, it'd be a lot easier to tell (and fun to look at) if an Innie Warthog actually LOOKS different, too, right? The gunmetal gray thing works pretty well, too, but I think you could even take that a step further. (This goes for the Pelican and the MAKO drones, too) Instead of making them all shiny and shielded, maybe you can change or even take off the Warthog/Pelican/Mako's armor platings and show off more of what's "under the hood"? It won't give the occupants as much protection, but it should make them faster to drive/fly and easier to maintain -for a "hastily attached" group like the Innies, I think this would make a lot more sense. Quote: --- Original message by: Echo77 I like the semi-trucks and the ambient life in particular, and the insurrectionist kamikaze is an interesting concept. I look forward to the release. Me too -I'm looking forward to how stupid/funny the flailing animation'll look :P Edited by renegade343 on Jul 24, 2013 at 09:27 PM
