That's right.
I have been working on an (almost) completely custom map. I'm hoping to finish it by May 3, 2009. That would be my 1 year anniversary of joining Halomaps. :) Basically, It's a Brute themed map. All Brute weapons and vehicles. I'm just working on a BSP.
So , this is what I have so far.
Ravager: Brute weapons similar to the Spiker. It is a rifle type weapon with 4 deadly blades on the end. Firing sound is mine :D


Stinger: Brute prototype sniper weapon. Shoots 1 giant spear then needs to be reloaded. Usually fatal in 1 shot depending on where the target is hit.

Purple Plasma Rifle: It was going to be black, but that didn't work, so I made it purple. Shoots a lot faster, but the bolts are weaker.



Shivs:Blades mounted on your wrists. (Chronicles of Riddick anyone?)



Impaler:
Another Brute weapon. Combination of the Needler and Pistol. Shoots a heavy radioactive spike projectile that damages about the same as the pistol. But it can empty the whole clip in a single explosive burst to kill the target. You can shoot semi-automatically and if you hit the target 7 times, the spikes radiation will cause them to detonate.


Shredder:
Replaces the Needler. Shoots 5 spikes per shot. Semi-automatic. Covenant technology stolen by the Brutes after they split from the Covenant. The spikes home, but not as much due to the weight of the spikes.



Brute Shot:
Brute grenade launcher.

Stinger:
Brute sniper weapon. Shoots a spear at the target. Shoots one shot then needs to reload.

Incinerator:
If there's one thing the Brutes love more than spikes, it's fire. This weapon shoots a grenade like the Brute Shot, but when the grenade hits the ground, it explodes into fire, which spreads out to fill a fairly large area.

Mauler:
Brute shotgun type weapon.


Decimator:
Brute heavy weapon. Shoots overpowered grenades that bounce and release spikes.

Gravity Hammer:
Ceremonial Brute Cheiftain weapon.


GRENADES:
Brute Shot Grenades:

Grenades fired from a Brute Shot. Can also be thown by hand. They bounce this way, similar to a Frag.
Spike Grenades:
Sticks to any surface and emits a hail of spikes when detonated.


VEHICLES:
Reaver

Brute response to the Warthog. Wasn't popular in the beginning but eventually replaced the Prowler. It can seat a Driver and 2 Passengers in side seats. While there is no turret, the Driver also controls 2 twin-linked cannons. The cannons are similar to the Chopper's cannons, however they are far less powerful. While the Prowler was designed for Troop Transport, the Reaver was designed to perform tasks such as insertion of troops while under fire, or rapid strike attacks. The Reaver is faster and lighter armored than the Prowler, but lacks the onboard turret. The passengers can't aim behind the Reaver either, leaving a 45 degree angle from where it is vulnerable to enemies.

Impaler=90 (pickup icon;)
Shredder=80 (sounds; tagging; pickup icon; reticule)
Brute Shot=0 (model; animations; textures; sounds; tagging; string lists; pickup icon; reticule)
Brute Shot Grenades=0 (model; animations; textures; sounds; tagging; string lists;)

VEHICLES:
Reaver=60 (sounds; physics; tagging; string lists;)


Due to balancing issues I have forseen, each custom weapon will be replacing an original Halo weapon:

AR=Ravager
Rockets=Decimator
Sniper=Stinger (Spear Gun)
Pistol=Impaler
Flamethrower=Incinerator
Shotgun=Gravity Hammer/Mauler/Shiv
Fuel Rod=Brute Shot
PP=Impaler
PR=Brute Plasma Rifle
Needler=Shredder
Frag=Brute Shot Grenades
Plasma=Spike

The only non-custom things in here will be:
HUD
Biped
the BSP textures.

Why:
I like the original HUD. I could make a new one if I wanted to, but it would be bad.
Same as the HUD. I could make a new biped, but I would mutilate it with my horrid textures and animations.
Textures, Bungie's textures are a hell of a lot better than mine :P


In regards to crit:
Crit whatever you want. Just be nice and remember there's no guarantee I will take your crit. I am mostly content with what I have going here.

Thank you for your incredibly helpful attempt to point what exactly is disgusting about them. I especially appreciate the way you used nice and helpful vocabulary to point out the specific errors. Those rod of god pistol-like things or however they are, should have some more detail on the barrel, since it just looks like extruded/beveled cylinder. Add some sights or something

well yeah they are mainly primitives placed together. take some time to play with the tools in editable poly and find out what most of them do. then you can visualize the process of making things and be able to edit geometry to make it look better

Neat ideas. Try taking them to a more advanced step and working on them a little longer. Maybe you could also work on your references a bit more for that SMG. Map sounds pretty fun though. Are you going to have default weapons as well?

The models really lack detail and are bland. However, its a really good start and is good your trying :)

If I may throw in, try and draw some of your ideas on paper, this tutorial will help. You can scan the drawings, or take a picture of it, upload it to your PC, and slap it on a plane and model it from that.

Nah, the only things in here I didn't make myself are:

some textures

Yeah, the back was modelled very roughly after the spiker. You hold the back rod with your right hand, the left hand goes under the magazine

I will probably end up going back and editing the content later. Right now it's still early WIP so a lot of this is probably going to change.

It looks promising, but i have a few points to improve on the weapons:
-The Smg: Try chamfering the back part, its a litle too bland and would look better if it had rounded off edges.
Same for the front grip., Also, try getting the trigger area a little bit more detailed, not with one 90 degree angle, but with more junctions.
-Rod of God: try adding alot more detail, it looks so boring now. Try to change the grip and maybe make the barrel a tube?
-Plasma rifle: Nice touch, would be nice if you had a pink Plasma rifle skin too lol gay PR :P

I'll keep that in mind when editing my models. Also, got the shiv in game, but you only get one now AND you hold it left handed :D LEFTIES FTW :P that means you can't throw grenades with it though. I managed to make some tiny edits to the mortar and rods of god but nothing major. I'll post some more pictures when I get back from school.
Then I'll probably start on the super sniper and guass rifle.

Bouncer: Covenant protype weapon. You might remember this from Internment_v2.1 It still functions the same, but it is getting a SERIOUS visual overhaul. The model in Internment was a placeholder I never got around to finishing, the new model will be a lot better.
Silenced SMG: When I started on this it was new, but now a few teams have already done this. I want to put it in there because I think it's really cool.

:V I am aware of the error in the back and by the magazine. You can't even see them in-game so it doesn't matter.
Super Sniper: Yeah, now there's a weapon named after you :P UNSC Prototype anti-personnel sniper. Fires a round at supersonic speeds, creating a minature detonation when it strikes the target. Tiny razor sharp pieces of shrapnel are lethal. It's bolt action to balance it out (That means one shot and then put a new round in).
Rods Of God: Giant satellite floating in orbit. Firing calls down a giant metal rod that explodes and sends out pieces of shrapnel. Functions much like the binoculars in Ambush.


Gauss Rifle: Sniper type weapon that shoots an underpowered Gauss round.
Laser Sighted Pistol: Pistol with a laser sight.
That map you see might not going to be the final map.
Shivs:Blades mounted on your wrists. (Chronicles of Riddick anyone?)


Also, I have something cool in store for you guys, I won't tell you what it is until it's done because I don't want to get your hopes up.

PROGRESS:
MAP=70 (new scenery; weapon placement; all gametypes)

Ravager=100

Black/Purple PR=100

about the Ravager:
I'm think I'm liking the new Brute weapon, 5/5 for originality, but it's a bit impractical. If you are going to melee someone, then it looks like you would have to stick the front of the gun into them and pull it out, which would cost you time in a fight. (Hey, you're doing all the animations and stuff, so I can't really say.) It needs to be a bit more Brutish because right now the blades look fine, but the magazine is just stuck to the bottom and the handle/grip thing at the back is way too thin and wiry to support something of that size.

about the SMG:
Aside from the back, the barrel looks a bit too thick on the inside.

about the Rods from God:
lol, I saw that same thing in some magazine, Popular Mechanics I think...
Anyway, cool idea, but the gun is too simple. Perhaps instead of what looks like a scope with a trigger and grip, :| you could have this: http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/UNSC_Laser_Designator
It is basically a giant laser pointer mounted on a Sniper Rifle stock with a high-powered scope. That would be way cooler than the little pistol thing. (I'll make it if you want, but it's up to another person to texture it.)
I don't know why you have another Plasma Rifle, but w/e, it's your map. Same goes for the blades; cool looking but melee-only weapons really only work in certain places and CQB maps.

If you had read my other posts you would have seen that I am going back and editing the models. This is a WIP after all...
You havent even SEEN the map yet -_-
Most are Bungie's textures. I only made the mortar's base stand texture, the ravager's metal texture, and the bloody blades on the shivs and ravager.

I love the map and models it looks great :D. I have some criteria for you. Like many people have already said maybe put a little more detail into the rods of gods gun and make it so it does not look like it is just a extruded cylinder primitive. That's my crit for you. Keep up the good work :D

EDIT: I have read your posts and i know that it is a WIP i was just pointing out again that the rods of god need more detail.

Seriously, you should do that Laser Designator thing. It looks great and it's already canon. (Not that that matters much in Halo Custom Edition...)

Seriously, you should do that Laser Designator thing. It looks great and it's already canon. (Not that that matters much in Halo Custom Edition...)

Not much progress has been made here really. Managed to make some more minor edits to the Rods of God, tagged some stuff. Finished the pickup icons and reticules for the weapons. Working on the secret vehicle. Made a video:
