Every object has a multi.
A multipurpose map is not just for controlling specular/reflection levels. It controls self illumination, parts that are the same lighting no matter if your in the dark or in the light. And it controls color changing. The cyborg multi has an alpha map, that hi lites the part of the armor that changes colors. Same goes for the elite and grunt.

so, what would men do to achieve that a bit?

come to think of it, it looks the same over the whole armor, does that mean... just add a matt reflection plain bitmap perhaps? well when we have the effect ofcourse we can reduce it to armor parts

If we gave it a matt reflection, just a reflection that doesn't show any reflection, then we could come close, somewhat like the CMT Tension armor, but less solid looking, the CMT Tension armor looks like solid rocks, Halo 3 armor looks like soft metal, if you know what i mean

Thats Halo 3 Beta I believe.

Also you cannot have a reflection without reflecting anything.

I know it's beta, there is not that glow in the final, but just to post something quickly,
and by relfection i mean highly blurred, that sentance came out weird

like this

Halo 3 does Real Time Reflection on all their stuff. And the reflection on the armor is just the lighting of the sun doing its effects.

True... meh i guess there is no cheap workaround then,

also i remember the Ice from DEEhunter's map and the B30 room with real time reflection, maybe somehow we can get that on the armor? I don't know how that real time reflection is made on the ice and B30 floor so i can't really say if it will works, just curious though

RTR, or "dynamic mirrors" as it's referred to in the game can only be applied to a flat section of a bsp, as far as I know.

I thought I just got all cubemaps from halo 2 vista =O
and i ripped about 6 from halo 2, how the **** could i have missed that one?!

If your talking about the one on the visor, theres on in a50. Its what the cruiser uses.

Ingamed the H3 Beta spartan for fun with proper shaders. Colors are from h3, seems the colors brighten when its in the actual ingame.

They look kinda ugly, might be just that pic, i don't know, not even a reflective visor

The one you used to use in your *coughleakedcough* narrows look way better, why don't you just use those?

THis isn't going to be used for h3mt, just so I can learn more about shaders and replicating them.
