Well, im trynig to improve the HCE engine while its runing, Why? Why not decrease encounters o rendered objects? Becuase the map has no scenery, only the encounter and only uses the H1 models. I use the monitor to see much CPU was using and ram was using and to my sorprise it was only 30%. How could that be posibly if i was at 10 fps?

Prove:

So does H1 uses only core? theres anyway to make use more? Or at least use more cpu speed?

Is it a laptop? Btw Halo CE cannot use any multicore technology LMAO.
The only far possible way is building a halo cea like renderer, so that the main process is less overloaded.

You have an Intel Pentium processor at 1.8ghz and that list does not list your graphics card either.

Yes, you're going to get low performance unfortunately. And no, CE cannot use multi-core.

What is wierd is that this computer has manage 48 actors at once before (Outpost firefight for example, 25-45 fps,) but this time is so laggy, and I´m using the same count. How ever Halo 2 runs smooth, why not this time?

Maybe it's not the amount, it's the quality.

What do you mean? In Outpost i used H3 and HR characters with 10 times the amount of polygons,

And now im using the original H1 models. The only thing that has change is the bsp, wich now has 30k while Outpost only had 5k polies, how ever

48x2000 each = 96 000 polies + 30 000 = 126 000 per scene

48x10,000 = 480 000 + 5 000 polies = 485 000 per scene

WTH?

There are other factors that can dip a game's frame rate you know. Most of the time it's game-related with how well the game is coded, sometimes however it can OS related.

That's not good...

You are running the original Windows 8? Windows 8 has been unsupported since January. Windows 8.1 is a free upgrade and I would recommend updating for security sake.

You are running integrated graphics, with only 64 mb of dedicated memory. The rest of the video memory is shared with RAM. While only Halo requires 32 mb of dedicated memory (2003 specs), I would recommend looking at more powerful hardware if you wish to play games without performance issues.

HPC does actually use multiple cores, just not to great effect. Having said that,it also has no need to use multiple cores to great effect.

Whats the point of having the source code for CE if you're going to port it to Source.
You don't need the source code to port Halo to Source. We can extract BSP, scenery, fp models, weapon values, etc. Literally no point of the source code.

If you "port" to the Source engine, then its just a Source engine game. You aren't using sapien, gurilla, tool to compile, your just using Hammer to make a source map.

That means 0 backwards compatibility to the 1000s of maps thats been made for CE, which if we had the mythical source code for, one of the major points would be backwards compatibility. (or at least an easy process to make old maps compatible)

If you make a "Source port" it defeats the purpose. It stops being Halo.

Go get gmod and download a bunch of Halo weapons. Theres your source port. Have fun.

Sketch, he meant source port as in a Doom source port like (G)ZDoom.
Edit: Basically take the source code of Halo CE and modify it to include new features.

My point still stands, whats the point of a Source code if you're just going to port it to Source.

This. We dont need to port to source if we have the source code. People smarter than me could add the things missing from CE that Source has.

Oh I'm sorry, for having an idea that is good.

The point of a source port is to enhance Halo CE and potentially give the engine enough capabilities to match something of a modern game. Just look at Vanilla Doom on Dos compared to the best mods out there for source ports like GZDoom. It would remove all the limitations that mappers complain about. There would be compatibility, since the ability to use .MAP files is in the source code. Just like how doom source ports can still play .WAD files.

Also "BipolarAurora" I do not need your blatant insults when you could actually be contributing to the discussion. This has NOTHING to do with Contra just because I am new to a game. Please tell me why I should stop posting? What is it about me having a casual conversation which upsets you?!

You know that Microsoft isn't known for open-sourcing much of their programs including Halo, since CE's engine can still make them a profit with the Master Chief Collection being a thing. Think for more than 10 seconds.
