Ok, I have encountered a weird texture error (maybe not error?) with one of the textures for the map called Complex from Halo 4.
You can find out more about it here.

http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Complex

For what ever reason, all the Building in the model have sky blue texture for their roofs and some of the walls. Here is a screenshot from 3ds Max.

http://content.screencast.com/users/Fire_Dem0n/folders/Jing/media/8fe0cf90-9b30-4b55-8fbe-4e354fc40427/2014-07-14_2129.png

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Halo 4 shaders are different from the other games and we have had a bit of a hard time getting the scripts to figure out what bitmap goes in what slot (diffuse, specular, normal, ect) so what it dose at the moment is looks at the shader and places the first bitmap into the diffuse slot so you have some idea as to what bitmaps it uses. What I am guessing it has done for complex is place the normal map in the diffuse slot. You will need to go in and manually fix it. You can look at the shader what bitmaps it calls and, using some logic, you can figure out what goes where.
(Pro tip: the names of the materials in max are the tag names of the shaders)

Ran into a problem with the Texture Window for applying materials to imported models using AMF format.

Apparently when optimizing a scene in Max (i.e. Deleting Objects) and then applying materials to the left over mesh, it throws up an error and then Max locks up completely. Not sure if this is supposed to happen or not, but it does for me.

Using 3ds Max 2013 64-bit.

Also, I noticed an option in the Texture Window for the Adjutant max script. It says "Selective Import" and it's toggled by default. What does this option do?

EDIT: Was just able to replicate the error a second time. It says:

--Runtime Error: Attempt to access deleted scene object

I really have no idea what's going on here or what it is you are doing to be honest... Never herd of that error before... Maybe give me a step by step of what you are doing so I can understand better?

I genuinely think your pc has developed a soul.

To crush it, backup all your files. Reset your pc to the day you switched it on. And keep that virus raper in check.

When I started using a 3dsmax 2014, it gave me loads of crappy stupid errors. After 3 months of being frustrated, I just backedup all my files. Reset it back to factory settings and discovered that a dxd39.dll file had not been included in the system which is what max required to run.

So I downloaded and installed the dll and now all is well.

Umm....What?

Also, I noticed an issue with extracting normal maps as a DDS file format. The texture comes out as a black background with no normal information at all.

Is this normal for DDS file formats? I ran into this issue with the Halo Reach Warthogs textures.

My computer doesn't even like DDS formatted normals in any program, so it could be something with the file format itself? Try extracting normals as a TIF or PNG and see how that runs

Not all bitmap formats convert properly to DDS, that is why TIF is the default and should be the format you are using unless you are doing some crazy silly stuff.

And people are going to get tired of your snide remarks. I am one of the Adjutant Program testers. Finding possible issues with the program is my job. So I am sorry if you can't understand that. Also, I don't take advise from people who are smart alecks.

Anyways....

I am exporting the DDS files as DXT5 File Formats. Which from what I can tell is the standard file format for exporting. It's also what I was recommended to use. So that's why I am unsure what might be causing the Normal maps to show up as black when using DDS.

From what I can recall, you need to install a plugin from Nvidia's website. Not sure if they still provide it, but that's how I fixed that issue.

I'm simply stating, as an individual it seems a little out of place, that you worked on something as awesome as adjutant but can't seem to fix little menial errors.

It's like being able to restore a car, but not able to restore push chair?

And you also need to really just stop while you can. You are acting rather immature and under the actual age that is required to actually sign up for being on these forums.

That is probably one of the dumbest things I have ever heard come from a human being. I don't think you know what it even means to be a Program Tester. Our job is to find problems and issues with programs. Pretty much we are asked to break it (if we can) and then report back the problems we find/found. You obviously can't fathom what my job is, so you might as well just stop now.

Yeah, the forum works really well on ipad lol. At the moment we have no plans of adding support for any more titles, this may change but no work has gone into anything so if we decide to go down that path it will be a while from now.

So I have a "genuine" problem.

When searching for maps in the "open" browser. Adjutant doesn't seem to recognize Halo3 Odst maps as the .xbox360files which it wants to open.

However it recognizes Halo reach map files fine. Am I doing anything wrong>?

This program does not deal with Halo 2 at all, and there is no public program to get animations from any game past Halo 1.

They used to be available on the XboxDB FTP (it went down again)

Matt does not have them.
