I was playing through the tl_test.map again on a bored night when I wondered how it worked.
There isn't a set .weapon for the locator that specifies the weapon.model, and it doesn't seem to have any trigger volumes set or anything.
So if there's no .weapon, and there's no trigger, how the heck does it work? How the heck is it even in game?

It was released a while back I think and I was just wondering if anyone figured it out since then.
I could use some stuff to pass time by.

I can't take a look at it right now, but have you looked at the scripts yet, if it uses any? That could shed some light on how it works.

If there are no scripts, then take a look at the projectile and see what it creates.

In the weapon tag I think you can specify relative xyz coordinates for the origin point of a projectile. I did a similar thing a long time ago to make an artillery weapon. Basically just set the origin point for like +5z. This should make the projectile originate from 5 world units above you.

E: just checked and I'm right; under the projectile section, look for "first person offset"

Then I guess you guys can figure out how to make it work on other maps, cause I've only been able to make it work on bloodgulch.

It has something to do with how high up it spawns.
It's different for every map (assuming they have different skyboxs)

I think it spawns when you start a game with a custom gametype. In the item options make sure that the starting equipment is set as generic.

would it be possible to make it come fro mthe same spot everytime like say a ship in the sky. directly comeign from a sertin point on the ship?

Wait... I didn't really understand the first post because i'm lazy to translate everything (Google translator can suck sometimes) But... Are you trying to find the TL in the map itself?

README.TXT:

"About:

Okay, so I tried to rebuild the map, and bam. No target locator.
Opened up in HEK+ and recursive rip. Combined into my tags folder, and rebuilt. Nada.

No sign of the target locator anywhere.

Anyone actually find any target locator tags in this thing?

Well guys, I can't seem to extract the target locator diffuse correctly.

I just need someone to help me figure out the shaders for the screen and the laser.
Once that's done, I think I might do some cleaning of the animations and we'll have ourselves a satisfactory Target Locator. :)

actually no it doesn't, i got mine working as well and it works amazingly, ill post a video later today if i can pull myself away from planetside long enough to do so
