Thanks for the suggestion.
I might rip the texture from that and use it on the regular hog model, as I don't think the treads are needed.

Update on those vehicles!



I decided to scrap those old Coldsnap vehicles and make these from a fresh slate. I think it worked out much better this time around.

Also, we added a little something special to the list of vehicles. More on that later.

The only point of the mongoose in a firefight would just be running over stuff... however, isn't portent really just 1 hallway? o_O

The original Firefight Portent just takes place inside of Blue base on Portent.

Firefight Portent II aims to take advantage of the indoor and outdoor spaces.

That's still up in the air right now.
The main issue is the simple fact that there don't seem to be any good H2 marines around (at the quality level of the original Portent's).

If anyone has and/or is willing to donate some H2 marine tags (including Johnson if possible), that would be super duper awesome and appreciated.

What made you decide to use Halo 2 marines instead of the ODSTs allies you used in Descent?
To make it more like the original Portent?

ODSTs aren't the bulk of the UNSC's forces, I'd think it to be natural for more marines to be engaging in combat.
Also, Descent had Spartan III's I think. Although they do look similar to ODSTs.

Exactly. What we want to do is treat this as a complete reimagining of Firefight Portent with elements that still feel familiar. Elements like these would be Halo 1 barricades/vehicles, the Halo 1 flamethrower, Halo 2 enemies/allies, etc.

We want to respect the original while making it something more.

i can not wait since i just found out about it by seeing it listed in my UI firefight section.

just wondering so i dont look everyday and find nothing, which is the same thing that keeps happening when i look for updates on CMT SPV3.

I assure you that progress is being made every day on BOTH SPv3 and Firefight Portent II.
People not actively involved in the projects don't see behind the scenes, but these projects, and all things listed in the UI, are under daily care.

From talking with Mooseguy all of the projects he put on there that are not currently released he at least knows the state of development with them and knows they are going smoothly in production

They're in the zteam tags. You might be able to do 4 grenade types and keep backward compatibility to, I'm not sure.

However, it is ridiculously overpowered at the moment. I tried it out ingame and it rained down around 5 fiery explosions of death that killed me in less than 2 seconds. Definitely gonna nerf this sucker. A LOT.

Speaking of nerfing, I decided to re-download and play the original portent and I realised how OP the battlerifle is in it. It has like an in-built aimbot and it's bullets can penetrate.

Yeah, that was annoying! It's very easy to beat the level with that BR...
But anyways I think MoooseGuy will use the BR from Firefgiht Descent or an updated version of it.

Yeah, no worries. Currently we are using a modified Firefight Descent weapon set, which will be further adjusted for balance in this environment. Balance is one of our top priorities in this map, due to the store system.

I believe Gamma made it so it's bullet can penetrate so it would be like COD

Not only that. That BR has a lot of auto-aim. The bullets always hit the head.

Example: I killed 3 grunts, 3 headshots, one click, and I was aiming almost to the floor, I don't even wanted to kill them!

Also, the aiming in general in the original Firefight Portent don't work so good. Just try to move the mouse fast while watching your player with the flycam. The moves aren't synced with the controls. That's why you can miss some shoots while moving your camera fast.

It's just a huge radius of bullet-magnetism around the reticle of the BR, the BR in firefight rio had the same OP problem. It kind of works like a cham, however in CMT SPV3's current mod the BR/carbine/sniper feels like it has no bullet magnetism at all making it hard as hell to use, at least in the first map version that they have out. In portent-II you should try to make it balanced like inbetween halo 2 and halo 3's bullet-magnetism strength, if you can. Just a suggestion

The version in that image is the one in my test map. It has crappy shaders.
The version in the actual Firefight Portent II map is a lot better looking.

I've always loved the uniqueness of this biped. I'm not sure I could ever replace it.
