I was going to say Tesla, but wanted to avoid the debate that would imminently follow. :P

P.S. Tesla was crazy smart, that is crazy + smart.

"Yea, we're still in an early beta stage and all scripts are still subject to change for better optimization."
There may be some ways to make it better, but I'm confident my specific method is the best.

Well I'm confident that being a lazy ass and just using Print and Inspect statements is best. (What exactly is the argument I'm joining in on? Its efficient ways of displaying numbers and such, right?..)

I'd like to clarify: I did NOT make the whole concept up.

When helping Pepzee, I drew some inspiration off of the points system that DSali had shown me. Part of it was mine, but several elements of it WERE drawn from his scripts.

Short answer? YES. The idea may have certain parts derived from DSali's ideas. I can't claim credit for what I didn't fully make; a lot of the inspiration did come from his implementation. At the time, I was just helping Pepzee; he had no idea that it was partially built upon ideas from DSali's conceptualization.

Was the actual script plagiarized? NO. I have full faith that Pepzee wrote the script himself, or based on certain ideas that I gave him from my and DSali's conceptualizations.

TL;DR: This argument is stupid; YES, DSali should be given credit for part of the script. NO, they didn't directly steal and copy DSali's script.

Lestat, this whole argument is pointless.

Even if Gamma was inspired by your ideas or took a few of your ideas, you can't possibly think that you should be given credits just for inspiration.

If we're giving credits for inspiration here, how about we credit every music artist that Gamma and Moose have ever listened to music from? And every single person they've ever spoken to in their entire lives? And perhaps then we should not only give them credit but also give credit to every person who has inspired Bungie's developers?

At the end of the day, inspiration is just too complex and there are far too many contributions. Unless you were directly involved in this project itself and contributed your work yourself, I don't think you need credit at all.

Your method, Print and Inspect, wouldn't work because uptime is not controllable, the messages would stack up, and you can't really specify the units its displaying. My system says "Points: ####" his says "#### cR" the old one was "00:##:##" yours would just be "####".

But I can control when console messages are cleared; there is a command, cls, just for clearing the console messages. The titles, sure, I couldn't write 'points' on the same line, but I can write points on the line above or below in either green or white (whether I inspect the string, or print it)
Really, the biggest problem with print/inspect is that it will always be on the left hand side. You'd either have to print/inspect some blank lines, or move the radar to somewhere else.

Inspiration may be complex, but I think he deserves credit for his original implementation. He spent a lot of time with his concept, and it seems rather unfair for someone to take it and argue that theirs is completely different. If anyone wants to blame someone for this mixup, blame me; Pepzee and Mooseguy had no knowledge that the help I provided them was based on DSali's work and DSali had no idea that I helped them with an idea that was partly if not mostly based on his concept. Mooseguy and Pepzee's argument in the beginning of the thread was based upon their knowledge; as far as they knew, they had no idea that it was in any way similar. Now they know the full story, and I see no problem for giving him credit. His implementation was rather remarkable at the time, and he should be recognized for it.

TL;DR: big misunderstanding; DSali should be given credit; further discussion on this argument is pointless and stupid.

We have a few different ideas right now as far as gameplay and armory options go.
We are working on getting the right balance with all these different elements that we have. Details on the armory will be revealed when we have a more solidified selection.

Or simply let us create AI by "purchasing" them.

Yeah, chances are, if there was a feature in the original, it'll be in this map as well. So purchasing of AI still applies.

Haha I remember this when it was released; groundbreaking stuff.

Out of interest, does the second image show an overhaul of a UI which integrates the credits system, or is it an in-game pause menu?

In-game pause menu. Pepzee showed a video about The Armory/Credits System on Xfire.

Wrong again Altheros.

You will not have to pause the game to enter the armory. The system has been totally redone from the ground up.

What do you think about instead of them walking out of nowhere, ODST's drop in from above to fight alongside?

He could always just make a dropsship full of marines come in that would work to. And ODST's to like pods dropping from the sky that would put a smile on my face any option would lol.

So about the barricades in Portent, we are thinking of removing them in Firefight Portent II, because the outdoor combat environment is not very well suited for them, as well as the fact that there is a lot of natural cover around the map.

Rest assured that we are making up for this removal with other new features. Personally, though, I don't think I ever actually used barricades for practical purposes in the original.

don't make the fighting arena too big, or else hunting down stragglers will be a pain in the [REDACTED].

Nav point the stragglers.

Yup. Just like in Firefight Descent. That's the plan.

We decided to stick with a classic vehicle set, as a style choice. It goes with some of the other stuff and stays true to the feel of the original Firefight Portent.

You guys do know that warthog comes from the Coldsnap set. The tank was edited to match how it looks.

Thanks.

I'm gonna see if I can tone the snow vehicles down to a more metallic gray color. Right now they seem a bit too bright for the map.

The hogs currently are using the shaders from whoever made them, which I'm guessing is HDoan. The tank is something I whipped up to match them. But I'm thinking of toning them down a bit.
